BF3's campaign was also terrible.Jebus213
I don't remember that being part of the initial argument, but thanks for changing the subject?
My argument is fully backed up.

Not at all, but whatever :?

[QUOTE="Bigboi500"]Basically it's big corporate business sticking it's dirty finger in the game industry's pie and taking it over. They're like a virus that destroys whatever they infect. They swallow up smaller independent developers and re-tool them to put out generic rehashes with the sole intention of making as much money as possible by creating a lot of hype without adding much new content year after year. They also take away sales from tons of other devs' games, resulting in lots of people losing their jobs.[QUOTE="commonfate"]
I really want someone to explain the whole "CoD is a disease and ruining gaming" argument.
I see a whole lot of diversity in the industry...
commonfate
Gaming should be about creativity and passion and a love for what they're doing, not driven only by the bottom dollar. The Activision/EA machines delete all that and replaces it with a robotic factory-st-y-le heartlessness business approach. Nothing like that can be good for the future of gaming.
I've seen you post similar points before in other arguments. Gonna go ahead and save us some time and say agree to disagree. That's perfectly fine by me.[QUOTE="Miroku32"][QUOTE="Ravensmash"] Not sure if srs. I have a solution for your Call of Duty dislike - it's called not buying it. Hear it works well and saves you money. Please don't try and imply that these thieves are doing anything positive for the industry. Would rather you allow COD fans to enjoy their game too, instead of some faux political-esque message :|RavensmashWell, I hope someday gamers notice they are being ripped off and do the same they did to Guitar Hero: stop buying CoD. I'd rather gamers buy whatever the hell they want tbh.
That is a poor mentality to have. If this continues, game prices AND dlc prices will increase.

Fixed.
Pirates can't play post-3.56 firmware games on jailbroken PS3s.

So i'd rather have gamers buy only worthwhile games and DLC. That's not gonna change the outcome much.
The industry is reaching a point where there are a lot of up and coming problems. DLC, store exclusives, and poor relations between pubs/devs/retailers. We're the consumer, and we are the ones that ultimately decides what happens. When more and more money gets involved, there is some smarts in relation to what is right and wrong. How people are so willing to put up with on-disc dlc, day one dlc, and to an extent the string of revenue MW works off of is beyond me.

I consider that to be smart/clever business. They don't hold some golden moral standard when it comes to gaming. Times are changing.[QUOTE="lundy86_4"]

I completely agree. The issue, naturally, lies in between the consumers and the stores, and the stores and the pubs/devs. Unfortunately, we're never gonna find a sufficient enough "no-buy" for consumers, and thus we'll all continue to buy. Even boycotts last a limited amount of time before everybody storms in.

I think most of the sales from day one dlc, annual rehashes and other disingenuous products that sell well that aren't in the best interest of the gamer is done by kids using their parents money. The other percentage of adult buyers just don't realise what they're doing, or just don't care how it affects the future.Considering the general consensus amongst hardcore gamers that CoD is the source of all our problems, I'd imagine a good amount of people would pirate it.illmatic87

I don't understand the fascination with it. Eventually it will die down, probably shortly after the start of next gen, but by *od, I've seen people buy NEW xbox consoles JUST BECAUSE IT IS MW themed!
PC gamers who say that the piracy problem on consoles is equivalent to the piracy problem on the PC are as bad as consolites who say Uncharted 3 looks as good as the best looking games on the PC. Both are just not true.Talking bad about pc because of how early it got leaked? What about Gears of War3 and the many console games that have gotten leaked earlyier then this so far this year?

You clearly know nothing about the PS3 scene.
Every game released after Portal 2 is encrypted with new keys. Pirates can play any game that requires only 3.55 firmware and below on jailbroken PS3s, but they can't play recent games.
The PSP is a different case. I won't go into details on a site like this though.
Why are you bringing this up? Pretty much nobody here pirates games, and dislike it when people pirate. Pirating in general is bad, doesn't matter the platform.
And why does this deserve a thread when pretty much all console games are leaked a couple weeks early?

Both are just not true.PC may have around two to three times the amount of games downloaded when compared to a console, but that's understandable given that the player base is larger, and that many people download it only to find out it won't work on their computer. Those counts are just how many times a file was downloaded, so one person could count like 5 times for it.Talking bad about pc because of how early it got leaked? As long Steam and other DD sites on the pc continue to offer amazing deals on games constantly I'll be fine even if game prices and dlc price goes up. Personally I have bought almost no DLC as I don't care for paying extra but if your not content with paying full price dlc goes on sale quite alot on the pc even the map packs from the greedy activision can be had for half-price just need to have some patience good things come to those to wait.PC gamers who say that the piracy problem on consoles is equivalent to the piracy problem on the PC are as bad as consolites who say Uncharted 3 looks as good as the best looking games on the PC. Piracy is just as bad on consoles as it is on PC :| It's even worse when it comes to handhelds. No one is defending the problem, but to deny it is even worse.
In after piracy ruins PC.
Anyway this wasn't a group of 1337 hax0rz that hacked Infinity Ward or some crap but rather a warehouse worker who made off with the game which happens with every platform.
Like some people already said, why even bother pirating a low quality rehashed game? Its a waste of time and effort :S

Maybe we should make a thread every time a console game gets put on pirate sites a week or two early. Its funny how its a big dead when a PC game gets leaked yet pretty much every console game released is on torrent sites weeks before release and noone mentions it.
Scratch that i think it would be better to just have a console piracy thread where we can announce all the console games on torrent sites, oh wait no, that would probably get you banned.
What's terrible is that these pirates create this huge cycle of ignorance that causes some companies to impose annoying DRM's on the PC version, or just straight up ignore it at the worst case.
Its bad enough people just have 0 moral qualms, but then you have the people actively seeking pirate copies to not give the developers any money, just because they feel entitled to own the game even though they don't want to pay money for it or support it. Honestly, if you don't like the expensive map packs or lack of formula change, then you wouldn't want it at all. If you care enough about it to pirate it, I don't see why you can't buy it when its cheaper later on or at least used.
I'm not defending but.... Black Ops is still over $50 retail and people don't buy games 'used' on PC.What's terrible is that these pirates create this huge cycle of ignorance that causes some companies to impose annoying DRM's on the PC version, or just straight up ignore it at the worst case.

I don't care because they will make plentyof profit on this game. So what, they will be missing a few million out of their billion...
This is how it works? Sweet! Apple makes billions from ipods and stuff right? I'm going to steal one today, entirely guilt free. Jebus213
As of right now there's only 8,000+ people playing Blops and Mw2 on PC. Also that's world wide. Both games are dead.
MW2 is in the top 5 most played games on Steam - whilst Black Ops is also close by.Attitudes like this that make me despise gaming communities sometimes. Advocating piracy, how silly.Hopefully it will get pirated as much as possible. It will serve Rehashvision right.

GEOW 3 was available on console in the summer pirated, lol.
It happens on all platforms.
losing COD games on PC wouldn't be the biggest loss to me anyway, it's not like the devs care about the port that much anyway.
Serve them right for what? Making a game that millions of fans enjoy? If fans didn't want a new version every year, they'd stop buying it. But apparently the DO want a new version every year, so why does that bother you?Hopefully it will get pirated as much as possible. It will serve Rehashvision right.
