Well, i downloaded the japanese RE5 demo not to long ago, and after playinng it for a awhile...i'm come to the conslution that, it kicks ass. Its pretty much RE4 on roids...i just wanna clear out that while the game looks like RE4, it plays so much different now, expecially with the shooter controls, it actually plays close to gears, with holding A to run and left and right triggers to aim and shoot. The game has a more slow pace to it, heavier if you will, it feels realistic and moves feel fluid. Some enviroments are destrucatable and the fire is insane, blow up a barrel and it sets the floor on fire for a short time, pretty sweet. physics A.I is pretty hard and now i see why its made for 2 players, animations while similar to RE4 it's better and has a bit more variety, another thing thats cool is you know how you can shoot doors, etc? well if you have one of those infected villages infront of one, and melee him when promped you can punch him straight through the door, its dam cool.

Now to graphics...the character models are the best i've seen in a console game, Better than MGS4 and gear 2. Draw distance is awesome envrioments look great and trees/foliage sway etc, but due to the bumped up models, the enviromental textures are toned down from what i've played, you won't see gears 2 or Resistance 2 like textures, but flat low rez mostly...but from a distance still looks great.

My only negative is...

A) Sheva your A.I buddy, while its an awesome addition to the game and survival feel, she gets kinda annoying, most of the time shoots down your enemies and pretty much heals you all the time, when down...which is cool, but the freedom of the game feels limited, i straight away thought of the classic Re's how it should only be you, alone, doing the single player...it gives it more of that surival horror feeling, but i guess team work is the concept for RE5.

B) Enemie bodies dissapear in bubbles like RE4, i wish they would just stay lifeless on the ground, adds to realism

C) Jumping across to platforms, chris looks weird doing it, seems unnatual...while its a small thing, it kinda bothers me.

so far thats it...feel free to ask any questions.

Draw distance is the number one killer of horror games. Its not scary if I can see you coming from a mile away :(
How is the ammo situation? Any good? I have a feeling that this game will have no Survival and no Horror. I dont care what you say, but If I basically have unlimited ammo (always have plenty in stock) its no longer a "Survival" game...Im looking at you RE4

Won't M$ ban me if I'd have second, Japanese account? What's the safest way to establish one? I actually don't have my Live hooked, and I have 1 month Gold trial in handy, but I will have my 360 plugged to the net today for the first time, and I feel tempted to try the demo.

actually i depleted my ammo quickly....half the time i was trying to look for some, since the enemies are harder and those exercusion dudes take so much hits to bring down. While it is like RE4, the demo had fewer of it. The tension is definitely there, its all about survival and helping your A.i..all about team work, since the enemies are in greater numbers...this time, gets pretty hard.

They are easy to make one and all they ever do is block that account With that said, youre going to need a Gold subscription

I have never heard of anyone being banned for having an account from a different country. You will just need a Windows Live email account that is set to Japan. And the account will need Gold, because the demo is exclusive to gold for the next week.

RE5 sounds less and less like a RE game and more like a 3rd person shooter. It shouldn't be called a survival horror game anymore. Thanks for the impressions TC.

Ok, i'll take your word for it, but if this turns out to be one of those games were I have unlimited ammo...i'll spam your email! :P But the draw distance aspect is seriously bugging me and the concerning amount of footage shown in day time, and the car scene...all these things are pointing to an action game rather than a horror game :(

Im with you there...I might just avoid this, or maybe rent it. While RE5 will probably be a good game, there are far better action games out there that I could spend my money on.

Yep. the graphics are just as promised....the game looks dam good, IMO....crisp, detailed, especially the character models. Nothing to worry about.

Youre a Japanese 360 owner, COOL! Anyway, i saw the recent screens and it looked like there was a huge downgrade in the environments

Eyezonmii

err, wth you on about? i'm too hyped? sure..i just downloaded a game demo of the most anticapted 09 title...it hasn't clouded my judgement tho, was there something i said in my little review that got you mad? i call it how i see it, obviously its my opinion.

No dont get me wrong, i just assumed that you are so hyped for this game that even if it had some flaws that it would be the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Havent played it myself so i cant really say, but you saying it has the best character models..... was little bit ... well...um i disagree (based on HD videos)

I will get RE5. Although it's not the classic survival horror game anymore, it still seems to be a pretty good game in what it is right now. I just wish it wasn't so different from the original games.

I agree with you,but not with the texture part..are you playing the game at 1080p? because i have i at 720p and them i switched to 1080p and some texture look bad, which is obvious that the textures are 720p native..but this is only an early demo from months ago..

If people are doubting my opinion on how the character models are the best compared to other consoles games...they shouldn't...once you play it, you will be amazing on how srsly detailed chris is, its the first thing you notice when you start playing, especially is hair. Eyezonmii
No you're right dont worry about them..they haven't play the demo..hey give me your gamertag and we can play co-op together :)

I believe you that they look impressive.

I actually like the fact that its more like an action game. Hope the controls are smooth and fairly simple, maby a bit gears/mgs4 like.

All i can say is, IF you loved RE4..you will love this one. Its basically the same in how you play, but the little things like movement, button layouts, animations, destructible environments and now the A.I (healing and aiding) definitely ads and feels fresh. The NEW controls take some getting use too. and please for the people doubting the horror of the game, don't judge untill you've seen the full game, like i've said capcom have yet to show the HORROR/Scary parts of it. The tension/survival feeling is all there...while it looks like an action game, its takes more than just gun blazing and reloading to do it, from what ive played you have to save your ammo sometimes and rely on hand to hand combat, good head shots and using strategies to complete bits...add all that and the fact that you have to keep an eye on your partners heath...it isn't easy...trust me. It feels more survival-ish than RE4.

They look fluid and natural to me, from melee's to reloading, picking up, death animations and helping out your A.I...they are much improved. A lot complained about the RE5 death animations being the same as 4, while some are still the same, they have been tweaked and improved, they react to environments and new ones have been added in...it feels different, IMO and i like it. Again, this demo is an earlier build..apparently so stuff can still be ironed out.

Thanks for the reply.

Resident Evil 4 on Steroids Wouldn't Be a Bad Way of Describing Resident Evil 5. The animations are a vast improvement from the last game in the series, the textures are a scatter bag (some good, some bad) but overall it still looks very nice for a console game, the controls are easy to handle with easier movement because of the revisions to them, the environments are nice and thought out giving you freedom and restriction at the same time, the enemies are so-so because they feel very much like rehashes with new abilities but the enemies are very much subject to final release because some of the enemies in the last game not even I saw something, the a.i isn't smart from what I've seen but it is aggressive always hunting you to bring you down, the team mate sheva is dumb an annoying and I so wish I could get rid of her! The overall effect for the graphics meshes together very nicely and the presentation is very well executed even for a demo. Honestly Horror Doesn't Exist From What I've Seen but the Survival Aspects Very Much There.

Did you d/l it on the PS3? If so, how are the controls? Where the sticks and triggers fine? I know the Framework engine looks and performs the same on both systems (best multiplat engine IMO). I may be definitely getting this on PS3 instead of 360 for the sole reason that I don't plan on renewing my Live subscription. And a huge chunk of the game (making it a better experience) would be totally worthless :(.

its not available on the PS3 yet, its only so far exclusive to 360 Japanese market place, until Capcom confirm the US/EUR date.

Cool, well in that case I'll look up how to make a Japanese Live account.

What i most love about the game, is how the enemies react to the environment... when your hitting them, say i punch a guy and his standing next to a wall, he won't just do the animation regardless, he will react according to whats around him (smacks into the wall, slides down steps, its dam fluid and good....and defiently improved. Uppercut someone never felt so good...their is weight to it, realism..etc. okay i'll shut up now. Eyezonmii

Not now,but 2009 for sure..and is only an early build..we haven't see the final version..but right now this demo blows away Gears 2 graphics and whatever coming in 2009 on consoles.

It won't be dead space that's obvious the that doesn't mean capcom won't have surprises in store for us later down the track in the full release, it has dead space intense survival aspect with ammo though from the demo but that could change quite easily with weapons and customization. Demos give you a taste not a impression which is the bad thing about them with games like resident evil, difficulty also always plays a hugh factor in resident evil games.

of course it won't be DS, it'll be way better. DS was easy, IMO and it's way to linear..play it once and you just don't go back, the story was also a let down and the main character is about as interesting as a crumb on the floor. The gameplay was good tho, i'll give it that. RE5 has the tenstion and survival feeling in check..the horror is there, just not from what we have seen....trust me.

To be honest, only Chris side of the story in Resident Evil 1 was somewhat challenging.
