Nathan and Marcus went to the store yesterday....

The following is a true story recounting the trip to Wal*Mart by both Nathan and Marcus.

Nathan is a good looking guy, aged 22. He is currently getting his doctorate of philosophy at a major university. On August 29th, he went into Wal*Mart to purchase a next generation console. Nathan is a savvy shopper and he has done his research. He goes up to the shop clerk and requests a Playstation 3.

For $299, Nathan knows he is getting an excellent deal. He also picks up popular games like Valkyria Chronicles, Infamous, Killzone 2, and Metal Gear Solid 4, winner of many game of the year awards.

Nathan has no problem connecting to the online through the PS3's included wi-fi.

When he gets home he hops onto Killzone 2 to play some multiplayer. He then goes on Play-Asia to purchase future AAAE Demon's Soul. He knows he doesn't have to deal with pesky ntsc/pal restrictions because the PS3 is region free.

Nathan connects his PS3 to a HDTV and marvels in the PS3's clean layout. He connects to online easily. He immediately starts downloading his favorite PS1 games that he may have missed out on. He understands that these games aren't new, so he feels Sony's pricing is fair for both the consumer and seller. His attractive girlfriend comes over to watch some blu-rays that he purchased while out. He picks up all his favorite because he knows Sony's blu-ray is supported by all major studios.

Not long into his PS3 career does Nathan pick up award winner Little Big Planet. Because of the game's creative nature, Nathan leaves college to pursue his real dream of becoming a game designer. Sony's partner Insomniac signs Nathan and is now working on future exclusive titles like Ratchet and Clank: a Crack in Time.

Nathan still loves his PS3 and is looking forward to new titles like MAG, Uncharted 2, and the new TRICO project. His attractive girlfriend makes him breakfast every morning while he browses the PS3's free internet browser.

Marcus is an average looking guy, aged 22. He is currently getting his associates in communications at a community college. On august 29th, he went into Wal*Mart to purchase a next generation console. Marcus is a very uneducated buyer. He walks into the store thinking, "well I know I want something". He asks the clerk what he thinks and the 16 year old zit faced boy responds with, "well the 360 of course, you can play Halo 3 and all the other exclusive shooters".

He decides with his 360 he would pick up some other games including Lost Planet, Eternal Sonata, and Ninja Gaiden 2.

Marcus is having a tough time connecting his 360 to the internet. He doesn't want to buy the $100 wi-fi adapter, so he chooses to buy a 100 foot ethernet cable to connect to online. After some messy drilling accidents and a few holes in the wall, he is able to connect.

When he finally gets online he pops in a game and wants to dive right into some multiplayer. Uh-oh, Marcus just realized his Xbox account is only silver level. He must have a gold account to play online. What a bummer, but oh well. He decides to purchase a gold card for a 50 dollar fee. Not that big of a problem, as Marcus realized that he couldn't get any imported games because of the 360's region locking. Even if he wanted something, he would be quite confused as to what to get, with the dwindling Japanese support the 360 has been getting lately.

Marcus is confused when he connects his 360 to an HDTV. The NXE system makes the xbox 360's shopping more difficult than it has to be. After he figures it out, he buys the hot title Call of Duty 2 for $30. Unfortunately Marcus doesn't know he can buy that game for $10 at Gamestop or Amazon. Marcus' fat friend comes over with a couple HD-DVDs. Unfortunately, not all studios support HD-DVD so all he had in his collection was Evan Almighty and the Dukes of Hazard remake. It's ok though, because Marcus realizes that he can't watch these anyways without an expensive ad-on.

While downloading Lego Star Wars for $30, Marcus realizes he has ran out of groceries. He runs to the store leaving his 360 on during the download. Upon arrival back to his house Marcus realizes what has happened. While leaving his 360 on, his console obtained RROD. The overheating then caused the console to implode with flames. Marcus, having two mortgages on his house, must now move back in with his parents. He also must quit school and start his career as a fry cook to stop the hounding creditors.

He no longer plays games and dreads waking up in the morning.

Marcus decides to get a PS3, but then he realised FF13 isn't a PS3 exclusive anymore. Furthermore his favourite game, GTAIV, gets exclusive expansion packs only found on the 360.

Marcus wins.

Cool Story. Still a bit confused how the heck does a guy go from Philosophy to game designer, IN TIME to work on the new R&C.

I think this perfectly shows the problems of XBox360 and highlights the awesomeness of PS3 :). Don't misunderstand me, I think X360 is an OK console, but in comparison with PS3 it's just not as awesome. It blows my mind how someone would choose an XBox360 over PS3. Well, maybe Mass Effect and Alan Wake could be an incentive.

Flames don't make things implode. Perhaps the plastic case melted from the heat, but the Xbox did not implode lol

True story: My friend has and xbox 360 and he won the lottery, I have a ps3 and I did not win the lottery, hence the xbox 360 is infinatly better than the ps3.

Nathan, being so educated, didn't realize he was only getting SD quality when he connected his PS3 to his HD TV? I saw nowhere in the story, Nathan purchasing HD cables.

No it doesn't, unless you mean the Best case situation for the PS3 and an unrealistic worst case situation for the360, why would someone pick a 360 over aPS3, maybe the RPGs the 360 has would be reason, and the person isn'tmoved by thetons ofexcustive shooters thePS3 has.

A real true story. My girlfriend laughed and said "Can you switch over to the PC so that I can use a real browser" when she wanted to get on the internet one day. "This crap keeps crashing and I need to get some work done."
