[QUOTE="TheCoreGamer_"] is that suppose to look better then uncharted 1? Martin_G_N
Uncharted 1 shots that aren't bullshots. Also, my PC is quite cheap.
P.S- Why aren't you flirting with the crazy Mexican hobo fanboy on Youtube??
HAHAHA...You have'nt even played Uncharted. That picture looks like a PS2/Xbox game...LOL. You've must have had a pretty unique PS2Very little is gained by doing things like this, and all they are doing is holding back other components of the rendering.KingsMessengerVery little was gained.........You mean.....like having a game which is almost unanimously praised as "Console Graphics King" by almost every video game reviewer and critic?
Thats crazy. Tuesday cant come fast enough for me to pick this game up. I absolutely loved the first one. Naughty Dog are one of the top 5 developers in the world imo.
Why are people getting hyped over a number? Who cares how many polygons it uses, the end result is what counts. Developers don't aim to use the highest number of polygons, they aim to create the desired result with as few polygons as possible.
I don't know what poly count Crysis models use, if this is supposed to be higher then it seems like a waste to me, Crysis models looked great and did it with less.

It would have been that way whether they had 10,000 polygons or 200,000 polygons. The other aspects of the graphics are great. They could have been even better if they weren't wasting resources on unnecessary polygon counts.
Crysis characters had between 8000 and 12000 polygons. They just devoted resources to things like "Wrinkle Mapping" and subsurface scattering skin shaders. End result is much better IMO.Why are people getting hyped over a number? Who cares how many polygons it uses, the end result is what counts. Who cares? There's a lot more to making models look good than polygon count. Crysis models blow away Uncharted models with a lot fewer polygons.
-Tretiak
Yeah, 2 games you'll probably never play in your life, who cares.

...? I've played Crysis and Uncharted.
I would say that Uncharted 2 isn't even up to par with Risen...
Notice how much bigger scale this game is than Uncharted 2.
Much less Crysis... The scale is still pretty high AND it looks much better.
lol I swear you people crack me up always talking about the graphics in Uncharted 2, if ya'll think this game looks good I bet ya'll will crap in your pants if you saw Crysis on PC maxed out running at 1920x1200 16xAA 16xAF, no game on any console this generation will even come closeProjectPat187
youre absolutely right, but how many ppl can achieve this with 60fps with pc hardware? probably less than 2 percent of the human population

epic self quote fail. you should at least remember to switch accounts before you even try to troll. ps. crysis can run on custom very high @ 1680x1050 with no AA on a 700$ rig (my own) and 2% of the human population falls at about 20 million ;)plenty other games have nice cover animations, how are uncharted 2's better than Mass Effect's, GTA IV, GeOW...GTR2addicteach time you pop out he takes a different position, other games dont do that and have the same thing over and over.

the hardware of consoles however, remain the same.
never the less, pc gaming is stillexpensive.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, PS3, 2007
Main characters – ~20,000-30,000 polygons
Drake – ~30,000 polygons
Pirates – ~12,000-15,000 polygons
http://www.rsart.co.uk/2007/08/27/yes-but-how-many-polygons/
If any of you actually care how game art is made head on over to the polycount or game artist forums. Insomniac artists as well as some artists from epic games post up plenty of art work.
Here's a couple of screenshots of Red Alert 3 for the PC. Amazing aren't they? 1000x better than Uncharted 2 aren't they? Especially the 1st one! :D
Can you grasp the sarcasm in my post?
Cutscenes are like this, it's just a movie being played for you to watch. Cutscenes can't be used in graphics comparisons any more than these two screenshots can. Even if a game includes cutscenes with Pixar-like quality, they can't be used in graphics comparisons, it's a movie for crying out loud!
thats great. But the new push as been towards textures, no polygons.lhugheyIt may push back towards polygons with developments in hardware tessellation and, of course, the next big step of realtime ray-tracing.
Poly count isn't everything... horgen123
Actually it is, polygons and textures make up pretty much everything on screen :P
Of course just because polygons are the foundation of graphics doesn't mean cramming more into something automatically makes it better.
Of course just because polygons are the foundation of graphics doesn't mean cramming more into something automatically makes it better.True. Just look at Modern Warfare series. Technically far from the meatiest graphically, but it looks damn realistic and impressive regardless thanks to some artistic decisions by Infinity Ward.AnnoyedDragon

You're last line is what I am referring to. Otherwise thanks for the laugh [QUOTE="Tessellation"]RE5 character models look better.killzowned24too bad it has last gen animations. What the hell does that have to do with this thread? He's right, RE5's models do look better, and I bet the are not 80,000 polys. I'm calling BS. Unless they are talking about certin cut scenes then I don't think this is correct.
I am going to question to one thing, and that is wtf o.O He doesn't look 80,000..... toxicmogNo, he doesn't look 80K at all. I think maybe in "some" scenes, that might be true, but not any of the gameplay.
To each their own sir, to each their own...dont mention that dissapointment resident evil 5 with the greatness of uncharted 2

I know right the game doesnt even have streaming textures lol on top of its crap animations.dont mention that dissapointment resident evil 5 with the greatness of uncharted 2

[QUOTE="Animal-Mother"][QUOTE="TheCoreGamer_"] because if im not mistaken, this is more then Crysis. PC owners owned.TheCoreGamer_lulz, I cannot wait for a bunch of people to come post crysis screenshots and put U2 to shame :P uncharted 2 looks way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> crysis IMHO. then you should upgrade your 5200fx gpu to something a little newer, then play crisis again
well when it comes to pc gaming only crysis has pushed the limits of graphics, i ask the question, is it worth it for one game? pretty good campaign, crappy multiplayer, so one game this generation in graphics is crysis which is unmatched but I ask the question again....is it worth it? pc gaming talks about great graphics but so far there has been only one game the past several years that has pushed hardware, the next jump isnt going to happen until 2012/2013 when the next consoles arrive...so i ask again.........is it worth it????

only crysis? you think only crysis looks better than most console games? Have you forgotten about nearly all the multiplats released for both consoles and pcs?
and check the textures on this game:

You have to judge the visuals of a game in motion so check some of the other vids of the game and honestly, playing STALKER with the additional mods makes it look better than anything I've played except for crysis.
Which ofcourse can do things like this:
