Here's the screens from a while back, some may have not seen them I guess. These are not from OXM, but it shows off a few things like Gridlock remake that are talked about.

they should make a gun that shoots the goo like metal sht from the tech demo and it would spread and cover their body or something

the meat mode is really the only major thing thats new and it and probably wont even get played as much.

-New weapon Scorcher (Flamethrower) "most realistic fire in a game we've ever seen" Hopefully it's not as useless as the Halo Flamethrower.
-5 vs 5 Cool I guess. The game felt pretty tight as a 4 v.s. 4 game but this should be cool too.
-Assasination gametype altered. everyone respawns until their leader is dead. when the leader is killed they stop rewpawing and the game ends when everyone is dead on one team. Could be interesting I guess.
-Assasination renamed 'Guardian'. Yay?
-New gametype 'Wingman' 10 players split into teams of two.each team is played as different character (eg marcus and marcus vs Dom and Dom etc) That sounds cool.
-Features Matchmaking Awesome
-Exectucions now vary on the weapon you holding (eg sniper rifle will be used like a golf club) That sounds rediculous, but then again this is Gears.
-Curb stomp returns Expected.
-'Y' will cause your character to unleach several brutal punches to a downed enemy, killing him. Cool.
-'A' will cause you to pick up the enemy and use him as a shield. The player your using as a shield will go to the respawn line. Cool.
-New gametype 'meatflag' sort of like CTF but epic have done this in their own way. The flag will instead be character wandering around the centre of the map. He has his own weapons and even a place on the leaderboard.
To capture him you will need to down him and pick him up as a meatshield and take him back, slowly, to your base. If you shoot the meatflag enough times while he's being dragged back to base, his captor will loose him and he'll go crazy on everyone around him. That sounds downright crazy, nice to see Epic is being a little more creative with the multiplayer modes.
-Specific weapons will cycle round the maps. Good
-Stopping power - if your running towards an enemy but he is firing straight into your chest, you will slow down. Awesome
-The oppurtunity to spawn with either the lancer or hammerburst. Cool I guess.
-Hammerburst gone through significant alterations. The faster you tap the the right trigger, the faster it fires. quicker shooting = more recoil however. Will have to try it out first.
-New weapon Medusa. could be considered a power weapon. 6 shots per burst. I hate power weapons.
-Bullet shields. big metal shield that stops you from getting hit. can be planted into the ground to make a new cover. enemies can kick it down though if they get close enough. Sort of like the Deployable Cover thing from Halo 3, cool I guess.
-Grenades can be stuck anywhere. not just on enemies. they can be planted on the ground,walls,doors etc to produce a proximity mine. Cool.
-smoke grenades carry a stun effect that ragdolls anyone in range. Interesting.
-new weapon poison gas grenade. produces a cloud of smoke that kills anything that lingers in it. they can be stuck onto enemies were the will slowly die. people stuck by the gas grenade can also injure team-mates if the get too close. Awesome.
-On games with no respawn, when you are dead you can fly around the map as a "ghost cam". You can even take screenshots that will be uploaded to the community. Kinda pointless but ok.
-Gridlock returns. However its more overgrown now, plants and grass growing. (everything is still the same though- cars are where they where etc)Everyone loves Gridlock, so that was kind of a no brainer. Gears without gridlock would be like Halo without some sort of Blood Gulch.
-New map - 'river' - symetrical map, each team has a thin strip of land with a house and sniping tower, and inbetween them a river. New maps are always a plus (as long as they're not bad maps)
-New map - 'Security' - long thin map. to the left and right are stairs leading to veranda's that run the entire length of the map. you are barred access however by red lasers, which will kill you if attempting to pass through. A power weapon is barred on the other side of the map while at the other it is defended by sentry guns. There is a button in the middle of the map that turns the lasers and sentry's off for 20 seconds. Sounds annoying.
-New locust 'hammerhead' (helmet makes him look sorta like a hammerhead shark) Might as well have a giant neon sign floating over his head that says "Shoot me first!" but whatever.
-New locust 'Grenadier' (this is the guy we saw in the video were marcus punches him to death) Ok
-Two people can chainsaw one guy at the same time. Sweet
-New cog 'Tai' has aboriginal tattoo's. ok
-New cog 'Dizzy' "looks like chuck Norris" lol
-Cole returns for multiplayer at least. He better be in the singleplayer too!

The weapon-specific melee kill on a downed opponent for the sniper is to throw the rifle in the air, catch it by the barrel and take a happy gilmore-style swing at the opponent's head.

What? This is the best game ever.

i reckon this will improve multiplayer drastically, more than anything else. it will massively increase the use of the lancer and at the same time severely limit the use if shotguns, which was probably one of the largest faults of multiplayer.

Also the fact that the walls will chip away where you shoot the lancer so it wont cause for a need to pull out the shotgun just to end the stalemate.

Though the shotgun will most likely stay my choice of weapon. I didn't really just bum rush people, I usually stalked the player untill I found an opening to go in and take him out without him knowing what hit them.

It depends on if there is a way to tell if they are there or not and if it will automatically kill you no matter how close to it you were.

You can have a good online game without dedicated servers, but you must have a good net code which they didnt in Gears 1. It should be much smoother and have less problems in Gears 2.

Well it sounds more and more casual.... but I like the sound of the flamethrower a little. Hard to make anything of stuff we havent seen in action.

game looks a lot like gears 1...but with better ligting and colors...still looks great.

what counts is gameplay here, and gears delivers, IMO.

you won't know until you play it :P it'll be interesting to see how "meatshields" work out on MP... are they in "bleed out" sort of or dead when you can pick them up? if it's bleed out then it'll be interesting to see wether he gets a load of friendly fire being the shild or not

Its not something your going to be able to just fix with a patch, its incorporated into the entire online system and isn't fixable via patches. With Gears 2 having more focus on Multiplayer they are going to optimise the online experience way more than they did the first. I dont think we have anything to worry about, and honestly I didn't have that much of a problem with it with Gears 1 and I never hosted one game.
