[QUOTE="II-FBIsniper-II"]He ran straight into an oncoming car at the end and the car he hit barely lost any speed...SpinoRaptor24
I noticed that too.
Is this supposed to be the "best racing racing simulator"? Colour me unimpressed.
so im not the only one who also noticed that too.
yet ZoomZoom2490 says gt5 physics is far ahead of forza 2 or 3. LOL yeah right.
I guess he didnt watched the video to the end
Please Cows don't talk about Physics GT5 can't touch Forza in Physics it's no even funnydevilsoultaker2You cant exactly say that, Sure the Physics are tons of s*** when you crash into an object, But the driving physics are spot on. This is coming from a man that owned a 01 GTi
Guyz i got a question for all of you , oh mighty racing genre fans....
Since when DAMAGE >>> EVERYTHING else?...
I mean what GT5 or Forza etc missing with some awesome tracks , cars , graphics in general , real physics for each car , thousands of cars , official tracks and cars etc etc...
I mean , WHAT do you want , real damage?!!! Then sorry , but if a car hits a wall with more than 200km per hour the REAL damage will be ... well.. car wont be a car anymore... YOU WONT be able to play!! ...Really...
So in the end there isnt a REAL damage or realistic damage to begin with... I see people saying over and over... Damage is bad .. damage is this .. damage is that....
I mean , you got so good and excellent racing game , where most of racing games for more than 10 years now aint got realistic damage , now damage >>> everything else?...
Will you wake up please?...
AzatiS
Here is why damage in some form is necessary, straight from GTPlanet...http://www.gtplanet.net/page/16/?gr_i_ni
"Cheaters" riding the walls rather than racing clean to get around the course faster. And from what I saw in that OP video, nothing has changed. Doesn't effect me in single player or time trials, but very aggrevating in multiplayer.
Besides, realistic damage simply can't be done with todays technology, even IF the car manufacturers would let them explode a car into a million pieces, which they won't. Maybe you should wake up.
Looked like the GamesCom demo to me.So wait is that really new footage or just old footage being rebranded as new? cause if its really new footage thats pretty dissapointing.

The damage modeling looks great, I don't know what you guys are talking about. i just got NFS : Shift to hold me over till GT5 and i have been having a blast with that game.... the damage modleing is no where near in Shift what that video shows for GT5. Hell if the final product is better than Shift we should all be happy. It's much better than no damage. What are you guys expecting? Burn out level damage? That isn't going to happen. It's same as GamesCom :(

just goes to show you can't put any weight in anything fanboys say about their games.
Exactly!!! Like I was saying play need for speed shift, its damage modeling is barley there just a crack in the windshield or a scratch on the side. But it has impact visuals in force feedback screen etc.... the game is fun as hell, just like gt5 will be. And to the people saying its not affecting the car. I seen in that vid the car swirving down the street like the steering was messed up from the damage. If you guys want damage like you are talking about there is a game for you, its called Burnout Paradise. Go check it out. These are sim racers, it's about the race not about smashing into walls.Forza 2 is the exact same though. You see dents after running into a wall 100 miles hour. Every game is like this. I don't understand the complaints at all. Because there are no games besides F1 2007 that will tell you to restart the level because of damage. Do you honestly want the game to tell you to tell you to restart the game because you screwed up and hit a wall? Because that is basically what you guys are complaining that the damagae isn't realistic. But which game has realistic damage?

just pointing out the hypocrocy of lemmings in this thread. There was also a mention of bumper cars and GT5 is this thread...
Here's Forza2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_W0ehahwKg&feature=related
Bumper cars anyone? There is no glitch here, just damage turned off...so why dose the physics allow the player dto still win move ahead bump off walls if the physics are so far ahead of GT?
there is a game like that, its from last gen called flat out 2 ... you hit a wall and the driver goes through the windshield and smashes along with the car. These are sim racers, and all the sim racers don't have 100% realistic damge .. .these peeps are being too critical. What were they expecting. And if you are racing a car your not supposed to crash. We have games made for fans of crashing cars, fun ones too. Burnout paradise comes to mind.I dont know what you guys are complaining about. Its a video game first of all and it is not going to be 100% realistic and we know auto establishments do not approve of having their cars torn up in a game.
Seriously the people complaining about this should understand if your car hits a wall that fast, the car is dead, and the driver has flown out of the window. If you want a game like that be my guest, but it will be frustrating to nail every tight corner without doing so.

Well…..In the video you supplied…..The player is clearly trying to shunt the other players by quarter paneling them ..I don't see the bumper cars you are talking about..Thats what I expect to see when players choose to do that type of action..
But to address your comment about the player shunting off of walls and still winning……That has very little to do with physics and more to do with the damage turned off….FM2 has the option to turn on simulation damage and I would be surprised if the player is still competitive after a series of moves like that…
The reference of "Bumper cars" in GT is derived from a player bumping off of anything and nothing happens (long term effects) from doing such actions...The same cant be said with FM2 when played on Sim damage..

Thouse are pretty good....There are also some really funny FM2 glitches when yea search for them on Youtube
this whole bumper car stereotype is a false as the playstation3 has no game stereotype, made up by typical xbox fanboys, seriously its histerical
Classic24
Yes because EVERY car race you see on TV, the winner is the driver that bumps off of everyone else to make a turn...

Congrats on Poly for taking this long to finally address it. I guess by GT10 it actually will seem like real racing...
Not really... I spend most of my time doing the license tests anyway. I love those.Rikusaki
Lol, at all the haters, the game looks fantastic. For those of us which have been playing the series since GT's debut on the original playstation, GT is and allways will be the KING of console racing games, no others come close.

They would obviously put it in to capture fans who like damage in order to boost sales.Rza_rectah
lol....all i can say is you guys are going to be sooooo ticked when online racers beat you using cheap bounce off the wall tactics.
i'm playing dirt 2 atm and hitting the wall or anything else like cars, signs or whatever scrubs off speed and it also has race ending terminal damage if you hit anything too hard.
how can poly be so far behind the curve?
not to mention that damage is just a side note in scheme of things when gt5p was not able to implement basic features like chat, private matches and friends list support.
damage may end up being the least of gt5's problems

Nothing new here.
I'm a little weird at how he recovered from doing three spins so easily. he just kinda caught it and kept going.
Looks beautiful, but that was part replay? It kept switching up, can you just see the hud in replay then? Becouse I never touched replay in prolouge, so I dont
know if it's like that or not.

Dirts damage doesnt affect the actual car though. But its still good for visual damage.best damage is in grid, dirt and dirt2.

In regards to forza rewind has no place in a driving Sim thats more of a Grid/ NFS function.
Rza_rectah
Taken from an interview that when asked about the rewind function..I think he answers the question that "rewind has no place in a driving Sim"
Is the rewind race feature your way of doing what GRID did? What made you want to add that when Forza 3 is a simulator? You want it to be approachable, but that feature brings it back to the arcade realm.
Dan Greenawalt: I couldn't disagree with you more. I've been in the racing game industry for over 10 years. I was around back when nobody had [the] restart race [feature]. Why? Because restart race was too arcadey. It was too easy. You gotta earn it. If you came in last place at the end? Suck it. Deal with it. That's the nature of the beast. That was what everybody said back then.
Nowadays? Guess what: you can't make a racing game without restart. It's ridiculous. Well, rewind race is a fantastic feature. Ours is different [from] GRID's. Was it a good idea in GRID? Yes it was. But they only gave you three of 'em and they penalize you for using them. That's stupid. Frankly, that's like penalizing someone for restart race. That's just stupid. So mark my words: five years from now, just like racing games are now doing the green line [that originated with Forza], they're all going to be doing rewind race and they're all going to be doing it just like we do.
At E3 it seemed like you could rewind the race as far back as you wanted. Is that how it's going to be in the final game?
DG: Absolutely. That's what it comes down to. I've got the perspective having worked in racing games. I've heard people, and I know it's going to be the same thing that happened when restart race [was introduced]. I'm going to get people that say, "No, it's not hardcore enough, punish me more." Really what they're trying to say is, punish everyone else – not me, because I'm a really good racer, and I feel like if I don't have everyone else being punished, I'm not proving that I'm great.
Well guess what: great racers are still gonna win. Rewind race doesn't make you any better. It doesn't make you any faster. It doesn't make you any smarter. All it does is give you a proportional response to your mistake. You've been racing for 40 minutes, you have a mistake, all the AI pass you. [Normally], what do you do? You hit restart race, maybe. You turn off the console, probably. You go to bed for the night. You throw a controller, potentially. What is a proportional response to that five-second mistake you just made? I should take five seconds from you; you have to hit the [rewind button], it takes five seconds. That is a proportional response.
