I wonder if they're trying to achieve the best visuals they can with the engine they use @ 120Hz. Looks better than before IMO, but I do prefer modern Doom over Halo any day :P

@iamthetruth101: I doubt that screenshot is taken in 120 mode. Only game I could compare it to on modern console would be CoD. I get why it doesn't look next gen though... it plays on a 2013 underpowered xbox one also.

I guess Horizon Zero Dawn 2 doesn't look "next gen" because it plays on a 2013 underpowered PS4 also.

Seems people fail to see the reasons these screen shots are being used is to illustrate updates to wider aspect ratios and field of view settings.

If its being played on the Series X or a PC then I don't doubt it, obviously it's not going to run at 120 FPS on the Xbox One/X

I doubt it's going to look that much better than HZD. I doubt were' going to even see any substantial leap visually this gen hence why more devs are focusing on things like ray tracing, 60 FPS, the SSD etc

@Pedro: To be honest, Horizon zero dawn already looks better than what I'm seeing from halo. Maybe it's just the art style that's bugging me about it. Seems too cartoony or something. Reminds me of a really old '90s PC game. But maybe that's what they're going for. I don't think Horizon will be mind blowing but with the increase to 60fps and instant quick travel(hopefully) should make it feel next gen. Halo has already been 60fps on base xbox one. Not sure how jumping to 120 will be a generational leap, but I've never seen 120 in action, so idk. It also already runs in 4k on X1X. To me, halo 5 looks better than this new one. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. And it has nothing to do with being a Sony fanboy. I actually cringed at that first video they showed last year.

@iamthetruth101: Not to keep beating a dead horse here, but with those graphics, you're probably right... series X should have no problem running this game at 4k 120. The much weaker X1X could already run halo 5 in 4k 60, and that game looked more impressive than this one. Oh well, my opinion. Like I said to pedro, its probably just the art style that's bugging me. But if that's what halo fans like, then good for them.

Halo's artstyle was never 'trying to 'realistic' as possible ', this should be pretty apparent to anyone who's played the series.

@Pedro: I guess a lot of people also never knew what a halo game looked like. I posted a pic side by side of infinite and halo 5. Is halo 5 not halo? If it's supposed to look cartoony like a mature rated kids game from 10 years ago, then they nailed it. I always thought halo pushed the hardware at the time it released each gen. This clearly doesn't look like it is. But hey, 4k 120 right? 🤷‍♂️

It looks good. Halo has always been about story and gameplay over graphics. I look forward to giving it a try for $0 because I have game pass.

Firstly, a zoomed in shot of two games is a really silly comparison on all accounts. Also, where in the game is the shot you are referencing? With that said, Halo 4 and 5 deviated from the series core design. The game was never a realistic looking game and was very stylized. This changed when it was given to 343 and they pushed the aesthetics more towards generic sci fi. Now, they are going back to original which revolves around a cleaner aesthetic and brutalism architecture which is more inline with the original design.

@Pedro: I'll admit I've never been a halo fan so I'll take your word on that. I was a big Destiny fan and also thought halo 5 looked decent. Guess I figured that Bungie went from halo to Destiny and that they were similar. Well, good for old school Halo fans then. Not so good for gamers that have been fans starting in 2012 with the series.

That wasn't my screenshot but it served a point, a point you clearly didn't get. I wasn't trying to compare graphics. I was showing the contrast between art styles. When there's multiple articles on this game, and many posters here have commented on it, I'm gonna chime in too with my opinion. It was obviously a big deal since they even admitted it and delayed the game. So explain how this is good for gamers that arent over the age of 25 or so? The gamers that started the halo series with halo 4. Not everyone is old gamers like us. Not sure why anyone would want a game looking like old outdated graphics just so it can run at 120fps with the majority of gamers not even owning a tv that supports that but can say "But this is what halo use to look like.... nostalgia."

u guys do know those are pc screenshot @1080p 32:9 ratio. take the best looking games u can find drop it from 4k to 1080p then move it from 16:9 to 32:9 at 60fps and see how it holds up.. that post wasn't to show off graphic but instead to show off features.
