[QUOTE="TheOwnerOner"]I dont understand what you are trying to prove.Pausing actions is necessary if you want to comand your squad, change weapons ect..in mid action.Vandalvideo
You and I both know they could have streamlined the radial menu to where you could assign the spells quickly to a set button. Thats what I'd rather have preffered. I think the freeze frame meshes with the pacing of the gameplay. Still looks great though.

The guy playing the demo released a statement commenting that you can indeed set actions to hot buttons and set AI preferences for your party. He only used the radial interface so heavily to show off how you could potentially set up combos and strategies for your party. Also, he said he preferred to play it that way as well.

not all rpg's have to be turn based, but if it was an rpg, he wouldn't be aiming a gun, you would use a command and tell him to shoot the gun at which guy. otherwise, it's just a strategy game.

Like KOTOR, Mass Effect's battle engine is run behind the scenes. Even if you didn't use the radial menu to indicate specific character actions (which seems suspiciously like the command menu you say the game doesn't have) it would still continue to run in just such a manner. Just because you don't have hp numbers popping over character's heads every time they get hit doesn't mean it's not an RPG.
