He looks like he has deep pockets? The dude is wearing what seems to be a burlap sack, I doubt he has enough money for "Lilly" here...

Anyway, yeah, Risen is looking pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but I'm interested nonetheless.

So I noticed that Lilly is a whore. :P

It looks like the new Vandal hearts, although I haven't seen those enemies or characters before. PS: Hooray for spiritual successor to Gothic 3 (Screw arcania). Looks like fun.

Yeah I'm not like Arcania.

It seems un-interesting.

Looks like Gothic 3, and I hate Gothic 3.

That game is like a tutorial on how to not make a game.

No. Oblivion was and will always be nothing short of awful. Morrowind was vastly superior.

No, it looks like many other fantasy RPG's that came before Two Worlds. Was Two Worlds the first fantasy RPG for ya? Just wondering.

And this will probably be even worse than that. Why you may ask? Because Gothic 3 was. Lets look at the evidence here. 1) Being made by the Gothic 3 makers. Therefore it will be unplayable at launch. 2) After it IS finally made playable by the community (Publisher will stop the devs patching it after a month) two years later, people will find that the combat system is utterly awful. 3) ??? 4) No Profit.

You must have some low standards or are just a really nice person because Gothic 3 should be more in the 1-3/10 range.

The series as a whole has pretty terrible gameplay.

Wtf are both you talking about? Bioware worked on what is basically two of the greatest WRPG series ever. NWN and Baldur's Gate. They also were the first to introduce the moral choice aspect to WRPGs with KOTOR. Bethsedia started the Elder Scroll series back in 1994 and Daggerfall was released in 1996 and basically set up every WRPG after it. The ONLY other company that could really be looked at as pioneering WRPGs would be Black Isle Studios with Fallout and Planescape: Torment. But both of those games came out after Bethsedia had already shipped two Elder Scroll games. Heck even Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale, NWN 2, and The Witcher all used the Bioware game engine. So YES, I'm completely serious that Bioware and Bethesida basically pioneered WRPGs. At least as they're known now.

The many posts in this thread reflect why I never made a thread about this game. As it does not have a massive marketing campaign and money filled hype train driving it, so hardly anyone around these parts will even give it a second glance. Nobody is saying that it is going to be some revolutionary RPG that will redefine the genre, lol. Besides, why should it have to be in order to be considered simply a good game? Oh, I know, "If IT dON't loOk lIKe it'Z at LEast teH 9.0, I doN't WaNTz iT, ROFLMFAOWTFBBQ!!!!!!1!11111ONE!"

So now we're crediting table top games with being the creative force behind the greatest WRPGs ever? Yes, WRPG got it's start when people that enjoyed table top M&M games wanted to see if they could create a new way of playing them, but darn if you want to get technical WRPG's started when J.R.R. Tolkien wrote The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings since table top games almost exclusively are based off of the fantasy world ideas that he created. I will give credit to Origin and the Ultima series since they first put the table top pieces together. However, like I said, the way that WRPGs are in their current state, I think a direct line can be drawn from The NWN / BG / ES series.

They all originally borrowed their ideas from J.R.R. Tolkien. This entire argument is stupid since you've done nothing to prove your point and only show your ignorance in not being able to type a well thought out sentence. Or is it that you have no basis to stand behind your beliefs and hence try to deflect that fact by attempting to imitate blind fanboys? If so, you're doing a good job. Don't like a developer. . .that's fine. But give them credit where credit is due. I'm out of this thread, no point staying. I can't even have an intelligent conversation. Haha, you think I really type like that? Anyways, none of those games are table top, I'm guessing you don't know much about the history of WRPGS? Anyways, sure Bioware/Bethsedia did make WRPGS more popular, but that's about it.

Of course, I understand that it simply will not appeal to some. As with any game, lol. However, there are plenty who refuse to even look at a game unless it is on a mega hype train that is being driven by big name devs and publishers. These types also automatically conclude that little discussed titles that have little marketing will automatically suck simply because hardly anyone is talking about them. It is the "unless it's popular it sucks"mentality. I would think it would be obvious the types I was referring to.

Ultima VII is the best RPG ever made. No other RPG surpassed it's interactivity and complexity.

That's because most of people hyping this game has already played the Gothic series from the same developer. Gothic is one the most immersive and detailed RPG series ever, and I think Risen will be just as good.

Why are you hyping this Shock? The characters look bland and lifeless, but at least the grass looks pretty.

Two Worlds can get an A here, so anything is possible.

Characters look bland and lifeless? Welcome to the RPG genre, 2beers!

From the video footage I have seen, I think the whole world has a unique charm and life to it, as well as the characters. Still has a typical WRPG vibe, but I think one of it's hooks is the volcanic Mediterranean island that it is set on. So the world is a bit different than what one may expect from this type of game. I can understand some doubting it on first glance, but there is a bit more than meets the eye here when you read up on it. I think it is going to be a solid, but probably underrated gem.

I love me some Demon's Souls, but who was even comparing the two here?
