While a warrenty is a good thing, if your console fails you will have to call them and send it in. It's hard to put a finger on exactly how long all of this takes but it seems to be approximately 1 month. That's a pretty big inconvenience.

beekayjay

My last E74 took me 4 business days. And obviously didn't cost me a dime. It's very hard for me to call all this "unacceptable". I mean a 3 year warranty is worth A LOT of money. This is straight out of the box, free of charge.

Praising their replacement policy without acknowledging the reasons why such a policy was needed in the first place is analogous to praising a pharmaceutical company for reimbursing you hassle free after their medication turned your skin green.

M$ had no choice in the matter they had to give a warrenty of this calibur due to the lemon laws of the U.S., if not for this warrenty they could have been forced to do a complete recall and refund all money which would have been devistating to M$.

[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"] People here in SW (non-360 users) use that word often when talking about the RROD. I would like nothing more then have them explain WHY it's unacceptable. Is that wrong? If they truly understanf the word unacceptable then they should have no problem explaining what they mean. :)

if your average game ($60, about 1/5 the 360's price) failed or otherwise didn't work because of issues pressing the disc about 30% of the time, would that be acceptable?

I thinks it higher than that. When I had a 360 i got the RROD 3 times in a year and a half :|. And pretty much all of friends who have a 360 has gotten the RROD at least once.

Thats still almost a quarter of all consoles. Out of 30 million consoles thats nearly 7.5 million failures, which is unacceptable. If anyone out there thinks this is good, then wow.

Not as high as was previously thought. But still highest of all the 3 consoles.

LOL, maybe you should read closer..... "SquareTrade does note that many costumers are reporting the RROD error straight to Microsoft, which would bypass the company's statistical data, and says the failure rate of the Xbox 360 could be as high as 35%" Basically the whole report is crap because they still don't know what the true number is. The ONLY company that does is MS........and do you really think they are going to give actual numbers? I mean this is the company that said they were in the 2-5% back when this crap broke. Essentially everyone call MS to fix their console so you can't believe the numbers at all.

And Sony is at 10%, shame on both companies. Seems only Nintendo makes quality hardware. themyth01
If you actually read the report, it says a big reason why Wii probably doesn't fail as much as PS3 is because it's played much, much, much less. No one plays the Wii so how can it break?

No doubt. I know PS3 has a small issue with Blu-ray' diodes or whatever they are called. My brother had a broken PS3 right out of the box a year ago. However I think it's safe to say it's no where near the PS2 or the current X360. Either way Lems can't honestly believe the failure rate of the X360 is only 2-4% right now. Are people really that ignorant?

Fanboy logic says that their console has a zero percent failure rate, all of the good games with no exceptions and that competition from other companies is what keeps the industry from pushing foward. Once you accept this logic, a 2-4% failure rate of the Xbox 360 seems perfectly reasonable.

it's not acceptable either way, BUT, I would only buy the game if it had that failure rate IF it came with a 3 year warranty. Which does not make it acceptable, but does make it palatable.

The Cows are scared the Jasper 360s failure rate maybe lower than the PS3s.
