You consider 2005 recent then...?

Halo 3 2007 Halo ODST 2009 Halo Reach 2010 Halo 5 2011-12? See the pattern now?

2 years wouldn't be bad ... I'd be ready to buy a new console by that time ...

Funny how a new Halo game signifies a new Xbox

BPoole96
Xbox 360 is not Halo-dependant like the original Xbox was. Halo 3 came out 2 years after the 360 launch. The next Xbox would be even less Halo-dependant.

[QUOTE="Sgt_Hale"] I would be VERY surprised at a new console in 2011... unless it came from Nintendo. That is way too early for new consoles from Sony or Microsoft. Frankly, I'd be disappointed with the 360 if a new xbox came that soon. Five years on the market doesn't sound that bad... but in terms of gaming, I'd feel taken advantage of. It seems like we're finally just getting warmed up in terms of great games, and the 360 in particular is already struggling with its pace of great exclusives... The idea of giving up & focusing on the next gen at this point would seem kind of cheap. ESPECIALLY with Natal coming out... I'm sure it's technology that they'll include in the next gen box as well... but I'd rather see them use it to keep this gen fresh.

Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed a lot of great games this gen... but compared to last gen, we haven't seen nearly the amount of great gaming that was in the PS2 era. And if this gen only had another 2 yrs left in it... I'd have to say it sucked in comparison. That said.... I'd hope Sony would take at least another year to continue maxing out their system at least. Heavy Rain is the most interesting game of this gen for me right now... and I'm hoping to see much more innovation before this gen is out. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

To each there own, I guess. Truthfully, I'm sure we'll hear rumors about the NeXbox in late 2010. Then we'll get slew of facts in mid 2011 (E3) and the release in 2012. But like I said, even if they were to release a new Xbox in 2011, it's not like they'd stop supporting the 360.

Well that'd be cool if true... but they stopped support of the xbox when the 360 dropped, so I'm not so sure. We'll see though.

Well, it's like I said...The 360 is making money for Microsoft. The orignal Xbox was 4 billion dollars in the hole. It would have continued to cost Microsoft money to continue to support the Xbox. Even though the 360 came out on November of 2005, I think the Xbox was pulled off life support a year before that.

I would like to see a new console for the end of 2011, I think by then the improvement in graphics will be enough to make the difference. I mean we are seeing some difference between the pc and the consoles now with games like Dragon Age go give it another 18 months and it might just be worth getting my wallet out again.
