I disagree, I'm looking forward to last.fm and facebook, personally. OH NOEZ 360 IS TEH CAZUALZ.
why would you want facebook on a console anyways. Last fm is understandable but facebook.I don't know? Why are you questioning what I want? The only thing that matters is the fact that I want it. Yes, I have 3 computers in a 10 foot vicinity of my 360, all of which will be more practical to use for facebook than the 360 - but that doesn't change the fact that I think it's a cool feature that I will probably mess around with.
lol we pay MS 50 bux an year and they can't even add an internet browser to the console and instead add two or three programs that nobody really cares about. Before you call me a cow I own both ps3 and xbox.
Yeah this hardly makes XBL better than the PS3. Not saying this as a fanboy, but as an owner of all three consoles.
I agree with this all over. There is simply no reason for this update. Under what horrible spell would I feel encouraged to to post a screenshot of a video game on my Facebook or need to tell all my friends that I got an achievement? It's just... stupid.Whichever M$ Boss is responsible for this outrageous Xbox Live Update, and is planning Xbox Live's Future should be fired immediately.

ok thats cool, ps3 can surf the web too, it can go on facebook, and i can upload game shots from my computer, but who really wants to do that?
and if i wanted last fm, then id go on my computer and listen to it at the same time, update isnt that big of a deal. yes its cool but its not really needed.....
all i want is cross game chat and it looks like thats coming too.

useless in the long run just asking why you would want a useless feature but you dont know so W/ETwitter and Facebook are already available on the PS3, and if you really wanted to, you can still upload screenshots from the PS3 to Facebook.. takes a little longer but it's there. Also, no 1080p low bitrate streaming cannot replace bluray. Here are a few reasons 1) Internet speeds. I'm still at a 1mbps downstream, and thats the fastest connection I can get where I'm at. This service requires 9mbps 2) Bandwidth caps 3) It has about 1/4th the bit rate of both audio and video 4) This service can ONLY be used on the 360, while BD's can be used on any BD player..With twitter, facebook, zune marketplace and last fm integration that will blow away psn forever. You can take screenshots from all games and post them to facebook for all to see. I dont think theres any reason to buy a ps3 anymore. Also theres 1080p streaming so that replaces blu-ray.

useless in the long run just asking why you would want a useless feature but you dont know so W/E You missed the point of my post. You shouldn't be so focused on why people would want these features, just the fact that there are people out there that do - and that alone justifies them being there. If you don't like it, don't use it and it will be like it was never there. For those that want to use it, great. I don't see how this could possibly count as a negative.,With twitter, facebook, zune marketplace and last fm integration that will blow away psn forever. Wow, you are really grasping at straws here. Twitter and Facebook on a GAMES console as the defining features?
For years the Lemmings knocked the PS3 for not being a true GAMES console because it could play Blu-Rays
Twitter and Facebook?? I think that's awesome. I mean soon we won't even have to play games on the 360 anymore
And honestly, consoles have been playing games since the first one released so it's good to see that the 360 is'nt living in the past

Woah there. I think you need to reel in your expectations there. (Unless of course you're trying to instigate... in which case... way to go!)
If anything, I'm curious to see how deep the integration goes. Can lastfm be played in the same way custom soundtracks are played? Will Facebook and Twitter be accessible from the Guide menus from within whatever game I'm playing? It'd be a cool novelty to be able to FB or Tweet without having to totally exit out of a game.
Also, according to Major Nelson, there's going to be some Zune funtionality in there as well. Have no idea what that could be.... Zune marketplace access, Zune library interface, integration of Zune cards with gamercards? Could be plenty of things.
So yeah... I'm excited to see what all this is about, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it'll blow away PSN forever.
Is it integrated? Why does it matter? It can still be done on PS3. o_o[QUOTE="blizzvalve"]

Facebook and twitter aren't essential for a gaming console, Trophies may be essential for many players, in both cases i dun care, adding trophies and facebook and all that stuff won't increase the value of the console at all.I thought you were gonna mention some major stuff, Facebook and twitter, damn, the PS3 has them since day 1.

I guess this is good for people who like these services and by the looks of the popularity and numbers, there's a lot of them who likes these services. Just like Netflix, these services will be easier and make it more convenient for those people who will use it. I'm guessing the people who are complaining about these services are the same ones who aren't going to use it.
Sure adding these features "aren't essential for a gaming console" but at the same time they boast about the other HD console already having this from day one and they're ok with it. Actually it didn't have this from day one, it has an Internet browser, and how is having an Internet browser "essential for a gaming console"? Nothing really, these game systems gives you entertainment and these services adds to that entertainment.
All these gaming sites like GameSpot, game developers and anyone and anything game related has a Twitter and Facebook, so the Xbox 360 adding them to their service was just expected. Last time I checked, Uncharted 2 has Twitter, but I don't see anyone complaining about that. :)
While true, i think the xbox live integration is better. They're custom-made apps for the xbox, designed to be used from your TV and with integration with your games and your profile. PS3 just offers the ability to use those websites via the browser. But still, it's hardly make or break either way. They're a bonus, not an essential.Facebook: Can be done on PS3

While the TC did exagerate a little, i kinda feel like he's getting a harsh rap here. I think some people are a little uninformed saying 'lol i can do that on the PC for free!' and 'PSN has had that from the beginning!' which isn't true.
These aren't incredible features which will change the face of gaming, by any means. But for one, they're free. You dont have to be a subscriber to use any of these. And two, PSN does not have these features. PSN instead has a web browser, which allows you to visit these websites as you would on your PC. That's not what is coming to XBox Live, is much more fleshed out and well integrated than that.
What the Xbox is getting, is custom-made versions of these sites which work like apps from the xbox live dashboard. They integrate with your friends list, your xbox live account, and your games, and are made to be used and viewed from your couch on a television screen, not on a PC. They also interact fully with your xbox live account, so you can post what game you're playing to facebook/twitter without having to type the message out, and can invite friends/post screens/whatever you want seemlessly from the guide button - you dont have to quit your game and go to a web broswer to do it.
Observe:
Twitter on Xbox Live:

So if you enjoy those services, it's a very cool and new feature.
No reason to buy a PS3? More than enough reason without even thinking about online. I guess Twitter, Facebook and Last.fm is better on the X360 then PS3. But then again. We have a fully working (kind of) internet browser. While some sites have issues with it many work perfectly. I can browse around and read reviews, check out wikipedia articles, walktroughs, watch youtube videos, use some forums (Gamespot doesent work after the last update anymore for some reason... It worked before) + all of what you have... For free...
