I'll just leave the link below for discussion.

Hahahahahahaha, oh that's amazing. I'm not buying the game until it comes off the Epic Store. The dev made a decision that gamer's don't like, and they're gonna threaten future titles on whether gamer's intend to use a free market and decide not to purchase Metro... If this is legit, then it's glorious.
Oh boy. This certainly is going to go well.
/sarcasm
Anyway the game looks good but I’m not sure I’ll ever get around to getting it myself as there’s way too many other games that I want to instead. If I do get it though it’ll be on the Xbox One.
5 minutes and namek explodes.
That fight lasted over 3 hours lol.
I'm not sure if he understands the reasons why everyone is sour about the bait and switch tactic used......
Someone else's "breakdown" of why
Reasons not to use Epic Store:
1) They have terrible security (80 million accounts were exposed last week)
2) They have terrible customer service (just google it)
3) Games are more expensive on Epic due to regional pricing
4) You can't play games offline
5) Limited social features
6) No screenshots
7) No controller support
8) They broke EU laws (and still do)
9) Scummy tactics (you had to tick a box to opt out of emails etc)
10) They are partially owned by Tencent (a company that sells user data to the Chinese government)
11) No achievements
12) No cloud saves
13) No game forums (many people went to steam for subnautica support)
14) Epic make you pay the transaction fee when purchasing games
15)They are anti-consumer (They pay for exclusive rights to games to try and force you to use their store)
16) They can refuse refunds even if you meet the criteria
17) No reviews
18) No Linux support
Err, all of this goes to a Russian forum.

Yeah, I'd take this with a grain of salt.
Lol. Everything surrounding this and that store is pretty skeevy. Protoss is lovin' it though
No I don't like the store anymore they make you play online and be logged into their store to play the free to play games.
Their using the free games to spy on users. I don't trust epic anymore they can keep their free spyware games imo.

I don't have an Epic account yet. But, if it's true, no offline mode and poor security would be big negatives to me.
Well, I don't know what has been officially said, but at the end of the day, I am interested in the quality of the game and not social media shenanigans. I will buy it from the Epic Store and I would buy it directly from 4A games if needed. I still have massive respect for the developer and it would be silly not to support them as long as they are making quality games.
I plan on waiting until it releases on Steam if it turns out to be a solid game. Not looking forward to adding yet another launcher; especially with how bad Epic Launcher is.
This all reminds me of Crytek, the similarities are just unavoidable. Games that pushed the graphical boundaries. Small time dev gotten big and raises a fanbase due to quality title but then ended up throwing it all away due to greed.
You should never shit on the base that made you popular in the first place. Bye bye 4A Games, join Cryek in the gutter.

Yet your telling the publisher and EPIC its fine to to these shady practices... If you buy this game......... and if you do buy it through EPIC dont use your normal debit/credit card.... EPIC's security sucks.... multiple times millions of account's info have been leaked more than once.
@dagubot: How bad is the Epic Launcher really though? It is a single player game. As long as I can select the game and launch it, that is all I really care about.
Its bad..... no offline mode and poor security, and higher prices outside of USA. And their Launcher is bare bones.... No features etc

Just like I said in the other thread. Epic and certain dev/publishers with them is har at work to undo what Steam has done over the last decade or so for PC gaming when Epic were busy sucking up to the consoles.
The amount of money they will lose.... Gamers would use Metro to bench new hardware like they did with Crysis and previous metro games.
All they needed to do was sell it on all the stores but like 15% cheaper on the epic store. That's how you would bring gamers over... Not making it exclusive and having a tantrum because gamers want it on their own chosen store.
@jun_aka_pekto: Every single one of those is true.
I know that. The ones in bold are what I care about.
It's just one developer rather than the stance of the studio (or studio heads). I won't be buying it anyways on the Epic Store because there are a number of things they're doing which I don't want to support.

I give no fuckwits about the drama involved. I'll take the smart move and wait, see how it all plays out on Epic's part. And the way Deep Silver did is even worse, the game already have a page and it's dedicated forum on Steam, after all. I'm gonna wait until the game is on Steam, specially since I have a huge backlog anyway and it does not help when Metro Exodus is launching with the rest of the heavy hitters like Crackdown 3, Anthem, Far Cry: New Dawn, & Jump force are all releasing Feb 15. I really wanna play Far Cry: New Dawn more so and I already got Anthem & Crackdown 3 lock down, Epic is doing me a favor in ways, I can finally wait until Metro Exodus launches on Steam next year.

PC is an open-platform, not a close-platform and this is becoming a console launcher then a simple PC launcher.
The reason other launchers don't bug me as much is because it's usually for the company's own games, and most if not all 3rd party games on them are available elsewhere anyway.
Here is a thread from indie Dev via twitter that makes a lot of sense. We really don't know what these devs are going through or how hard it is to be in this business.

Aaron San Filippo-
Something I wished more gamers and indie game fans realized right now: A lot of the people who made your favorite games are honestly struggling to survive and keep making games in 2019.
We've gone from a situation where 3-5 years ago, there were about half as many games on the market. When we launched Race The Sun in 2013, we were on the Steam front page for over a week, and that was a lifeline for us. These days you're super lucky if you hit front page at all.
In 2015 a front-page mobile store feature might get you enough revenue to survive a year, if you could get it. The same feature today... Well it won't. There are just _so many_ great games in the market now.
3-5 years ago, we would send hundreds of emails to press and youtubers, and few of them would reply. These days we often get radio silence, or we get asked what our budget is for promotion. Media folks have to pay the bills too!
All this is to say: Please have a little bit of understanding when you see things like a developer arguing for a slightly higher revshare, or deciding to take a platform-exclusivity deal, etc. They are not being greedy, they are doing what they need to survive.
@the-a-baum: If they were so concerned about sales, then the developers shouldn't have made such a "controversial" dick move in the first place. But then again, what do I know about "good business decisions" right? The issue is that PC gamers have to use another store, how much effort it takes or if it doesn't mean anything at all to the PC gamer is irrelevant. But it's business and they are gonna do what they gotta do. Like most everything in life only time will tell what matters and what's just useless crying.
All that said, I'm not boycotting Metro Exodus, Epic & Deep Silver doing me a favor and wait next year until it comes to Steam and as of right now, I got better things to do & play anyways.
What a bunch of babies. Also, narcissists. I'm not boycotting Metro or 4A or Deep Silver; I am boycotting Epic's storefront. They are being boycott-by-association, so in this case they have no one to blame but themselves.
I'll buy this game the second it's available on GoG or Steam or [god forbid] their own digital storefront, but as long as it's an "exclusive" I have no interest in it.
There are plenty of fish in the see, as they say.
"How dare you boycott my game! I'm taking my ball and going home..."
Cutting PC out of the Metro series would be a very silly thing to do business wise, even more so than putting out a statement like that. Wonder who's in charge of PR over there.
Haha pretty much this.
As for the silliness of it, I agree; I am sure Metro will be popular on console, but I feel like it's base is on PC. It'd be a shame if they cut off their nose to spite their face.
Metro truly is a Exodus what a proper name for this scenario. Just look what happened to BFV sales when you insult your fans stupid move. I felt bad for the devs after the shit Deep Silver pulled now I couldn't care less it's to bad this game looked really good. Once this story goes viral if it hasn't already they are done for.
It's coming out to Steam on 2020, and I have time to wait.
Yep. This truly made me wait. The Epic store is not established enough, plus the multitude of other reasons, are the reason I won't buy anything through the store. I'll grab the free shit, and that's all.
@lundy86_4: Honestly though, if Epic was at least as competent compared to the Steam platform, I would have bought it. But the Epic Launcher is just Steam 1.0 at this point, maybe even worse.
