This is a good example of why many developers don't interact with or aren't allowed to interact with customers beyond carefully curated PR pieces. One wayward sentence can cause such discontent.

“The recent decision to move Metro Exodus from Steam to the Epic Game Store was made by Koch Media / Deep Silver alone.
The recent comments made by a member of the 4A Games development team do not reflect Deep Silver’s or 4A Games’ view on the future of the franchise. They do reflect the hurt and disappointment of a passionate individual who has seen what was previously nothing but positive goodwill towards his work turn to controversy due to a business decision he had no control over. We respectfully ask that any and all valid feedback over this decision is directed at Koch Media / Deep Silver, and not the developers at 4A Games.
The future release strategy of the Metro series lies with Koch Media / Deep Silver. Our decision to partner with Epic Games was based on the goal of investing in the future of the series and our development partner at 4A Games. We have every intention of continuing this franchise, and a PC version will always be at the heart of our plans.”

its just one man view. not entire development team.
@with_teeth26:
problem is that the publishers/devs that are moving away from steam are the bigger publishers with their own IP's and DD platform, bribing 3rd party devs/pubishers for exclusivity is not being competitive . Valve/steam is dev friendly too.
Its just called greed. Publishers and some not all dev's want full control of not just profits but how consumers dictate the game sales.
Look at CD project, When they released Witcher 3 across all DD platforms plus their own GOG, it sold very well. while they tried selling throne breaker only on GOG it didn't sell too well. Now if it was on Steam, origin etc it would have done better
It seems about right. If people won't but their game on PC, then they should stop making PC games. Also, Epic Games Store is offering better revenue, so of course they have decided to go there for their sales.
I really don't get why people is getting so upset about all this, they are making a bussiness decision, is up in the air to see if it's going to work or not. If it does, then Steam may have to change a little and that's good, if is not, then the devs will have to put the game on steam as soon as they can.
Honestly, is fine by me.
I'm just gonna throw in my opinion but I think Epic & Deep Silver could've done better if they just sell the game for $50 on their store vs $60 everybody else. It may not be the $60 Epic's thinking but paying $50 for a game would get me thinking if I pay $50, I save $10 and use that $10 to buy something else.
The point is, you want to entice buyers, less then somebody else. Doing this makes you ask, do you really need it? Do you wanna save $10 but missing out features the other client doesn't have? It's super easy to do without thinking if you keep the new games low prices. Epic as a launcher shouldn't be making exclusive deals like they are doing now, Epic launcher is a in-house lockdown console on a PC and PC is an open-house after all.
That's exactly what I thought. If they wanted to do this and not piss people off, put it on both store fronts and charge only 50 on epic games. Would have been the best move they could have made to avoid the negative PR they now are experiencing.
"How dare you boycott my game! I'm taking my ball and going home..."
Cutting PC out of the Metro series would be a very silly thing to do business wise, even more so than putting out a statement like that. Wonder who's in charge of PR over there.
Haha pretty much this.
As for the silliness of it, I agree; I am sure Metro will be popular on console, but I feel like it's base is on PC. It'd be a shame if they cut off their nose to spite their face.
Indeed, it's never wise to limit your market... especially over something so petty. And I agree with that, when I think of Metro I associate it with PC.
LOL. In case they didn't piss off gamers enough. Oh, how I hope this game doesn't sell at all on Epic store. It would be so incredibly funny.
4a Games still say PC is our heart and soul and decision is made only by deep silver and epic.

4A Games can say whatever the hell they want. If their partner is an asshole, I still wont play their games. Metro Exodus is destroyed for me. Was gonna wait for Steam release, now I wont even do that. If anything, I'll pirate.
4A Games staff are free to leave the studio, make a new one and cater to PC gamers anytime they want. I'll wait.

do you know Metro IP is owned by koch media? even author dimitry is not happy with it. 4A doesnot own Metro ip
Deep silver are 4A boss not thier partner. they are still one of the best and most consumer friendly and passinate developers. its just thier publishers decision.
GSC own STALKER ip though so they have full control on STALKER IP even if THQ nordic become STALKER 2 publisher. the ip is owned by GSC. cant say same about 4A.
despite all this fisaco. im still expecting Metro Exodus to be better than Half life 2 but not STALKER as its impossible to any game to beat STALKER SOC.
@ghosts4ever: None of that matters. If I make an awesome donut, sell it to people, then my boss comes and take those people's donuts away, and sprinkle them with poo flakes before giving them back, people are gonna get upset. It doesn't matter that my intention was to make an awesome donut. It still has poo flakes on it.
**** Metro Exodus. **** poo flaked donuts.
I’d like to point out for people saying there’s no security in the epic games store, you can enable 2 factor authentication for your epic account. So yes there’s security for your epic account. If you don’t enable it and your account gets hacked well that’s on you.
@ghosts4ever: None of that matters.
time will tell. only time will
i did downlaod epic launcher and if game turn out really really really good. it would be worth for it.

I think Epic Games Store is always online and you have to be logged into the launcher to play the game. With steam I just double click the game and start playing with my ps4 controller.
I dunno epic games store works but I thnk you have to be online in the store logged in and I don't even know if you can use the ps4 controller if your locked into xbox or have to download something to use dual shock 4.
I don't trust epic games store anymore you shouldn't either man and 4a after they threaten us consumers you should have been like thats wrong even if it was just one dev its still part of that team.
4A didnot threaten us. just one employee do.
4A are still PC oriented.
Deep silver doesnt owe steam or gabes fat ass anything.
Neither does Steam and PC gamers to Deep Silver. It's a free market, you made a d*ck move you have to live with it.
Im a steam gamer and i owe valve nothing, im not loyal to launchers, the **** has valve done in the last 10 years besides dota 2.

I'll just leave the link below for discussion.

Epic Games is 40 percent owned by Chinese Tencent
https://www.lowyinstitute.org/the-interpreter/china-how-big-tech-learning-love-party
Wang Xiaochuan, CEO of Sogou, a Tencent-backed search engine, explained this dynamic explicitly in a quote leaked in March of this year:
We’re entering an era in which we'll be fused together. It might be that there will be a request to establish a Party committee within your company, or that you should let state investors take a stake, you know, as a form of mixed ownership
I'm not going to support Epic store.

Steam it self is enough. When Epic left PC gaming and was sucking MS balls and chanting about the death of PC gaming calling all PC players pirates, It was Valve with STeam that made PC gaming what it is today. Now they want a piece of that pie and doing anti-consumer, anti competitive practices like consoles to get those sweet money from PC gamers.
But, that's not all. Steam controller, Steam VR, Linux gaming, Mod Workshop, no censorship, refunds, Third party bundles, sales. All of that is done by Valve as well as funding and allowing modders to work on their IP. All that in addition to what some people has already listed out the differences between Steam and Epic store.
Lastly, I don't need any bull$hit from the fanbase preaching to PC gamers when they lost their $hit over MS one year exclusivity of ROTTR which wasn't even close to the bull$hit Epic/Deep Silver has done. Contrary to them MS also invested in the development.

You spoke well PC_Rocks :)
The only fans were upset over Rise of the Tomb Raider timely exclusive was Sony fans and the PC version of the game was only 3 months after the Xbox One version release which wasn't a big deal. And yes, Steam made what PC it is today. I for one don't have problems with Steam, they been good to me and still good in my opinion. Steam supports CDKeys, Epic does not and Epic Store is just as bad as Windows 10 store to say the least.
