Less jaggies to be sure but eliminating them completely isn't going to happen for a while.

The baseline I'm expecting for next gen anti aliasing is around Halo 4 (i.e smooth shadows, weapons, most character models). Of course everything else about next gen games will look much better than Halo 4.

Yeah no.

That engine is really bad with aliasing. Even on PC at 2560x1440 and MSAA/FXAA the temproal aliasing adn the texture aliasing is terrible.

On consoles.. it's a joke.

They'll either be non existant or a very rare occurrence. 8GB RAM for the GPU's should all but eliminate them. PS3 has 512MB RAM for it's GPUs and PS4 has 8GB of RAM for its GPUs. That's 16 times the GPU RAM for making smoother and more detailed graphics.

No I'm just saying that the graphics will run much smoother with such higher memory.

Even a lot of high-end rigs still get jaggies.  It will most certainly be better, but they'll still be there.

I don't really want to play any games at 30FPS I prefer 60FPS for all genres everything is smoother with 60FPS.

Performance has about 20% to do with RAM, the rest is almost entirley computaitonal - Ie the GPU.  Hence, RAM will play no role on wheter or not next gen consoles have jaggies.

I wouldn't mind SMAA x2 and SMAA x4 to be used in games more often like it was in Crysis 3.

TXAA is designed to give games a smooth filmic look, instead of an ultra sharp look, so if that's what developers want you'll surely be seeing TXAA going forward.  TXAA is magic AA.

TXAA while gives that sharp look doesn't completely remove aliasing.
TXAA with Downsampling does the trick.

Obviously at a console level its good. I wouldn't say its really bad, definitely good for consoles, probably the best on consoles I'v seen anyway.

1080p is a must or what is the point in the upgrade? anti aliasing should be standard also it literally spoils the image for me. Tommyjeeb
up until xbox360, the resolution was a standard 480, they only upgraded with the "hg" gen. 720/1080 is fine for tv's, and upgrading can give you much better results with things like physics, the amount of objects/characters on screen that you can interact with, other special effects. WIth decent AA i think this gen could be find with 720p and most people wouldn't even notice it.

The thing is that people are thinking that the next gen consoles are comming to solve this gen's problems...they are not. Its obvious that as with this gen, the next gen will focus a lot more on visuals than performance...the same thing happened this gen...PS2 had a lot of graphical issues (AA being one of them) and they didnt fixed it completely this gen, because they rather raising the graphic roof than embellishing the current one.
