[QUOTE="Shewgenja"] My only gripe with that rumor is that in SLI or Crossfire configurations, dual GPUs really only net up to +60% performance gains over single GPU solutions in graphics. It would be more cost beneficial to ramp up the generation of logic in mass production scale than it would be to print die-space for two separate GPUs.Shewgenja

In all honesty, I don't believe that rumor ether and am just waiting for the horses mouth to speak and all will be set right in the world. :P

Dude... May 21st can't come soon enough. I'm not saying that as a troll, either. This uncertainty is wearing everyone thin. Between you, me and the rest of the planet Earth? I think the best thing would be for the 720 to be a gamer-centric awesome piece of machine and MS announcing some cool games. Xbox and Playstation should torch the earth of all this casualized softcore friendly noobish junk and leave it without a health pack or a regen. That's my God's honest take on the whole thing.

:) Here here but again TBH, both are gonna need a healthy following of teh casuals in order to afford to cater to some of us core and in mah world, that's just fine & dandy since I have many family & friends who aren't core gamers and like playing the Kinect or just easy fun games where all the buttons, sticks and triggers don't overwhelm them so much. :P

No duh, this is fake. Licensing BD is all standardized and straightforward -- you fill out a one-page application and pay the licensing fee ($30,000 for MS, based on a quick look at the BD license office's website). Assuming there was even a problem in the first place (and that's a big assumption, considering the source for this rumour is the Italian equivalent of a Gamestop employee), I think a multi-billion dollar corporation like MS can sort that out between now and November.

The drones are in panic mode

Not any more. So now MS can copy Sony with Bluray. We always knew Bluray was the best.

I agree, but disagree that any platform needs to cater to the casual. In the PS1 and PS2 days, all it took was a dang good system that the core gamer could adopt right away. The casuals trickled in as the developers got more and more ambitious with the actual games they made. Having a console sell 100 million + opened the gates for the kind of crazy stuff we have come to know and love like Katamari Damacy just for instance. The casual rides our coattails, not the other way around. The Wii was a total fluke, and perhaps in a good way since there's at least a little bit of new blood in the mix for gaming because of it. However, if the WiiU is any indication at all, that was a one-trick pony and it also exposes a weakness in the tablet/mobile gaming sector as it is the closes machine to attempt to bridge that gap. We can take back gaming. It is on us, the core gamer, to lead the way again. As far as I'm concerned, whether this is a repeat of the PS1 vs N64 vs Saturn gen or a reboot of the SNES vs Genesis days (by the Gods, let it be!) is entirely up to MS now. Sony has shown, very clearly, that they are out to get their mojo flowing with PS4.

Sony proved shit all. Blu ray is the standard. Thats all. Hence its probable inclusion in the next Xbox.

What can't cows grasp the concept of time? Something unecessary in 2006 may become necessary in 2013. Its pretty simple.

LOL why would they crawl to Sony. Sony are just one of many companies behind blu ray. Even if Sony didn't want the Xbox to use it, the others would overrule it. Sonys influence = nothing lol

but sony is the biggest contributor of the blu ray license, among the Blu-ray Disc Association

I don't see how thats relevant. Did you know that every blu-ray player manufacturer (including Sony) has to licence a codec from Microsoft?

Yeah.....no.....not going to happen. If it's delayed it sure won't be because of a Blu-ray license. People are aware that Blu-ray does run on a MS owned codec right?

Now if they want to delay it and beef up the specs, and available games I'm all for it. However, since they are having the big event on May 21st I doubt anything will be delayed.

Hopefully 720 will have blu-ray like the PS4..
No one can complain about multi-discs and storage and playing movies anymore.
Wii:U cant even play Blu-Ray and DVD.

g0ddyX
I don't think the 720 can afford to use just regular dvds or whatever is being used now.

y'know, i have enjoyed watching movies on bluray for the last 6 years but sometimes it makes me crazy.

who could have imagined you would have to sit and wait while a movie playing from a disc buffered.

for the last 6 years... my movies... have had.... load waits.....

how insane is that?

i'm really hoping the next gen systems get rid of that stuff for movies with faster drives.

it was tough to go from instant dvd times for me for some weird reason.

That would actually be incorrect. Several software studios have licensing rights to H.264. It is not wholly owned by MS and was going to be featured on BluRays regardless of that whole HD-DVD spat. http://www.mpegla.com/main/programs/avc/Pages/Intro.aspx Word up.

He's lying. I've had 4 PS3s since the PS3 launched and I've never had to wait for movies to load or buffer. In fact, the PS3 plays movies better than standalone bluray players that I own.

Take out the red (obviously put in there to draw some parallel of ridiculousness) and you have legitimate concerns of every gamer, fan of MS or not.

Blu-ray load time represents the average time the model took to load our test Blu-ray discs, measured from the time of pressing the 'load' button to the time the first video information is displayed onscreen. Depending on disc, load time may vary from our result.

 they have to crawl to Sony begging them to let them use BluRay now. Lol karma is a b1tch Sony got delayed on the ps3 because M$ conspired with IBM to steal Sony's research funding for the cell. Well deserved.

 another cow that thinks Sony owns BluRay

Sony proved Bluray was the best. Now eat it that MS is copying them. Face it! Lems said-Bluray sucks, not needed, will fail like Beta Max, it's just another failed formatt attempt by Sony.

Lems said Blu-Ray was not need this gen... and they were right.

[QUOTE="I_can_haz"]He's lying. I've had 4 PS3s since the PS3 launched and I've never had to wait for movies to load or buffer. In fact, the PS3 plays movies better than standalone bluray players that I own.

Riverwolf007

I was thinking surely I have heard about this before now. There's no way people would put up for with buffering for a even a short amount of time. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

yeah, i'm a big liar.

sheesh people. can you not accept anything about anything?

here you go... load times for movies.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbV8vf7nuMA

is that acceptable proof for you?

no?

here's another.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7r5c3MGgYI

it's not just a ps3 thing... here is the samsung doing the same thing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FQpwkxcBZM

Blu-ray load time represents the average time the model took to load our test Blu-ray discs, measured from the time of pressing the 'load' button to the time the first video information is displayed onscreen. Depending on disc, load time may vary from our result.

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/blu-ray-players.htm

whaa! gawd riverwolf! you're a big liar whaaa!

****ing fanboys i swear to god...

I hate that load time crap. I put in Battlefield the other day on my brand-fricken-new Blu-Ray player, and I had to wait like 3 minutes before I even got to the title screen. 3 minutes may not seem like much; but when DVDs and On-Demand movies start in a few seconds, 3 minutes is a long time.
