Kinect is incredibly profitable... http://blog.euromonitor.com/2013/01/microsoft-shows-how-to-make-video-game-consoles-profitable-while-it-is-game-over-for-atari.html I'm not a fan, but its a business, and this it what businesses do.[QUOTE="clone01"][QUOTE="Rattlesnake_8"]Of course it won't, they wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot over something like that.. they will however lose sales because they will focus on kinect at not games people actually want.Wickerman777
Yeah, Kinect has sold a lot but in the meantime haven't sales of the Xbox 360 dropped off since its been around?
We will see if Kinect suffers the same fate as Wii U because of casual gaming abandoning consoles.Kinect is incredibly profitable... http://blog.euromonitor.com/2013/01/microsoft-shows-how-to-make-video-game-consoles-profitable-while-it-is-game-over-for-atari.html I'm not a fan, but its a business, and this it what businesses do.[QUOTE="clone01"][QUOTE="Rattlesnake_8"]Of course it won't, they wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot over something like that.. they will however lose sales because they will focus on kinect at not games people actually want.Wickerman777

That, I don't know. I'm just addressing the notion that companies are strictly interested in producing games for gamers. Not true.Yeah, Kinect has sold a lot but in the meantime haven't sales of the Xbox 360 dropped off since its been around?
Wickerman777
Correlation does not imply causation. Whilst it's possible the Kinect has slowed overall sales, it could just as easily be attributed to coming to the end of a generation.

Well, I hope the specs are different. A difference of 600 gflops is just too much for me to stick with Xbox. Xbox is the one I want to get but they have to provide me with a viable option and 1.2 tflops vs 1.8 tflops just isn't. And yeah, I know, I know... it's about the games. Pleasssse, this ain't Nintendo we're talking about here. There will be games aplenty available for both PS4 and Nextbox. I'm confident of that. What I'm not convinced of yet is that both of them are gonna deliver on decent hardware.
the only specs bump possible is the 7790 clocked at 1000MHz and the other 2CU's on and CPU running at 1.8 or 2.0GHz...memory can still be the same or they added more ram.. the SoC rumor can be also be added to the specs bump rumor..Yeah, everybody keeps saying it's impossible for them to add more CUs now. I don't see why it is, if there's a will there's a way it seems to me (And apparently the 12 CUs model has been around since early last year), but if it truly is impossible I guess they've painted themselves into a corner. Just can't imagine when they planning this thing out how someone at MS could have said to someone else, "Epic Games says next-gen should be 2.5 tfllops. Let's give em 1.2 tflops and Kinect instead." "Great idea!"
[QUOTE="Shewgenja"]Or the RUMOURS weren't true?Very releived to hear this. It surprises me it took this long for them to address this to their internal resources. I guess they had a change of heart somewhere along the way.
Well, at least we know the 720 won't be giving Emporer Palpatine lessons on how to be completely evil. That's a start.

He'll never admit to that, ever. He's injured right now so he needs something to cling on to. :P

u do know that ps4 comes with a standard pseye right and the controller has a wii u like touchpad right? lets not rep a particular company and disrespect other companies who are doing the same thing. true meaning of a hypocrite. with that said, i'll get both consoles at some point in the futureAs I said in the thread that got locked that's great. But will Kinect be mandatory and will the specs still suck as they are rumored to? As far as neagative rumors go these last two issues have been a bigger deal to me than the always-online thing. Seems like a bad idea to me to even include Kinect 2 in the box. There's plenty of people that don't even want it and it's money that could have been spent on a beefier graphics chip and/or speedier RAM instead. If it absolutely has to be hooked up for the system to even work that's gonna turn a lot of people off. Should be sold separately for those that want it like the original Kinect was.
Wickerman777
[QUOTE="Jak-25"]This is also a rumor *facepalm*It's funny how people took rumors as facts...

Seems like more than just a rumor to me if it's an email that was sent out internally to the ENTIRE Xbox team. That sounds like something they wanted and expected to get out. And it makes sense to me. It allows them to squash a negative rumor before their big reveal. I don't see them addressing rumors at the reveal because companies like to only talk about positive things at big shows like that. Case in point, I expect that if the specs haven't changed then they won't even talk about specs at all at the reveal.

Disrespect companies? Wtf, not like I personally know them, lol. I bring up Kinect because everytime I say I can't believe it'll be $500 with those specs someone says to me, "Well, Kinect is gonna be included. That's why it'll so high."

Yeah, reminds me of the cows who accepted the AO rumor as a fact so quickly, and claimed countless ownages over it...
We'll know the truth by 21st, but if you ask me, very little chance of AO being necessary for the 720. Doesn't seem overly rational... doubt anyone would risk making such a bold (and negative) move.

I have to question who could be so gullible enough to actually believe some of these rumors? Some of these rumors were so bad and obviously fake that it is almost as if they were pulled an Onion article. I can't wait to really see what Microsoft has planned for the new xbox.

no matter point is Lems need to be more vocal on things that aren't good for them as supporters of the company (MS). That is probably what made MS turn back on this (if this rumor is to be trusted).Fact is Adam Ortho *creative director of Micosoft Studios* was the most credible source of leaks we have heard from and the backlash that followed promted MS to act, first by issuing an public appology, then letting Ortho go as an employee and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the line NOW finally come out saying next box will be playable off line with single player games.

the difference is for every rumor saying AO isn't true there are 99 rumors saying otherwise. What?He was working on a game for xbox fusion and was the creative director of MS studios > you talking about no proof.
All the negative feedback about them requiring one made them change it. Imagine if most people bashed having to pay for xlive and refused. MS would have to greatly reduce it or get rid of the charge altogether. MS is the kind of company that will charge for and control everything they can unless absolutely forced not to.
Paying for basic online gameplay still sounds stupid...and yetI have to say that the whole always online thing sounded dumb to begin with. Did you guys honestly think it would be like that?

The link to what he said doesn't work, but you missed this from your post (I mean why would you put in the part which gives it context  ):Microsoft issued a tersely worded statement about the incident but did not reference the console. "We apologise for the inappropriate comments made by an employee on Twitter yesterday," said the company. "This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views do not reflect the customer-centric approach we take to our products or how we would communicate directly with our loyal consumers. We are very sorry if this offended anyone, however we have not made any announcements about our product roadmap, and have no further comment on this matter."

He lost his job because he reflected badly on the company. But that doesn't prove anything. He may have believed in things being always online - hence the tweets - but that doesn't confirm Microsoft had the same intentions. Yeah, it's amazing how desperate people are to cling to bullshit. The guy was saying he didn't understand why people were upset, but that doesn't mean it was an admission of what tech the new console has in it. It was his personal opinion of what he expected from the internet these days. The problem was that it is the worst possible thing you can do before the launch of a new product; get your personal opinion mixed up with whatever message the company is trying to put forth. It sends mixed messages to the consumer and you definitely don't want that before you launch.
MS was correct in giving him the boot, he was stupid and it probably cost the company a lot of money doing damage control. sometimes it's simply better to just shut the hell up about what you think.
Especially if you are probably pulling six figures and are talking about a touchy subject that can affect the company's bottom line..
