Next-gen console specs?

2014 is way too long, many sacrifices will be made in graphics, I'm hoping 2013 at the earliest, though I would prefer 2012.

People forget that Sony and Microsoft usually sell their consoles at an initial loss. Over time technology advances,things get smaller, cheaper and consume less power. Also the console manufacturers will be in a strong position to bargain to keep prices low. You think if Nividia build a custom GPU for MS/Sony that they will charge them per unit the same price as you or I would pay? heck no. we are talking about bulk prices here. imagine 50 million GPUs built for a company in 5 years? that's a LOT of sales and definitley there's room for bargaining.

Yeah but you are nuts if you think Sony and MS weren't paying attention to Nintendo.

I guarantee that both companies will keep the margin of loss in the new consoles a LOT lower than the one for this generation.

I don't know but they'll likely be better than the best gaming rigs today. Especially seeing as they're still a couple of years away from releasing.incuensuocha

What do you all mean? Don't you know the UCE (Unified Console Extreme) from Compaq? Here are the specs:

I dont think Consoles will be that big a leap over what we have now. I reckon the Microsoft Console will be first to launch in either 2012/13 and will feature:

AMD Multi Core CPU - I also wonder could it use some sort of specially designed ARM chip now MS has soc on Arm?

AMD/ATI 1GB DX12 Graphic Card - Possibly 2GB if they go for eyefinity.

2GB System Ram

Proprietary Disc Based Format or slight possibility of Blu Ray

500-1TB HD

Nope, MS is looking at APU tech for their next console and it wont be direct x 12 :lol: At best if out by 2012/2013 low ended quad core with gpu power close to an ATI 5570/5670 with 1gb of memory and 2gb of system memory.

Why will Microsoft not incorporate a DX12 graphic card into the next Xbox? It obviously wont be like an ati 69xx series card but purpose designed like the current xbox card, it would make sense for them to do this and surely DX 12 will be due around 2012/13 anyhow?
