Agreed, even Uncharted 2 does this. UC2 doesnt use Pre-Rendered videos, lol. ohhhh boy, i better go back to my more mature forum, this place is just too much. Yeh, it does actually....and no one really cares because on the plus side it lets them hide load screens.[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"][QUOTE="lawlessx"] that's really the first thing i popped in my head. [QUOTE="OhSnapitz"][QUOTE="navyguy21"] I read the link when it was posted 2 times earlier today (yes, you are late) and it referenced to the parts that WERE pre-rendered. On top of that, it said it was IN-ENGINE! No different from the in-engine cutscenes of UC2, MGS4, and a host of other games. However, there WAS some gameplay shown in the vid (check the gif above) where there were jaggies present. Cutscenes dont have jaggies dude. Just let it go, the game will look very close to what was shown. Heck, the E3 presentation should tell you that. Why are you exerting so much energy into trying to prove that it was not gameplay? Does it bother you that much?Bazooka_4ME
Yes because that's what haters do... It is a well known fact that nearly all great looking games "cheat" a little when it comes to the cut-scenes. As the dev rep stated, it cuts back on using precious processing power that could be better spent on the actual game and it shaves down load times. So my advice is let them talk... The Sony defense force will be in full effect when this game comes out stating that it looks terrible.. $ when infact it will rival anything on the PS3.
Except those great looking games on PS3 doesn't "cheat".as said above. UC2 uses them.
if it didn't, you'd have load times, I'm sure....Google it, it's all across PS3 boards saying longer scenes are pre-rendered.

That's the point! I'm sick of people here who are nitpicking and trying to claim ownage.
-Lack of loading time when you start up the movie
-The better light effects and facial models than what is used in real time
-The smoother animation that is used and motion captured (which the process can be viewed in the unlockables)
-If you change your character skin or costume with an unlockable outfit, it does NOT show up in the cutscene because the cutscenes were prerendered with the original outfits. If the cutscenes were in real time the unlockable outfits would show in the cutscenes.
The one in darker orange explains a lot in this petty argument.....

Uncharted 2 does VERY much use pre-rendered cutscenes. They even have improved shaders and ambient occlussion during the cutscenes.
Much like with Alan Wake, their reasons aren't necessarily for better graphics. It is more about being able to load the next level while the cutscene plays.

I'm not saying it wont but you people really need to wait for games to come out before saying such things. That goes for PS3 fanboys too. I'm saying that because I have confidence in the devs and the game based on what I've seen thus far.. I'm not calling it a "console graphics king" because I find the term hypocritcial since the sw's doesn't count "console exclusives." I'm not saying it'll be teh best looking game on the planet. I'm saying that it (along with the gears series and ME series) will rival the PS3's best efforts. I could be right, I could be wrong but I stand by my statement.[QUOTE="Bazooka_4ME"]

using pre rendered cut scenes, that is what he is implying, like UC2 for example.
I just dont get how he considers that cheating????/ Now if they used crappy textures and covered that with LOTS of blur then well..............................[QUOTE="lawlessx"]

Overall, Alan Wake's lighting engine is far superior.
Why?
It has the following features that KZ2 does not.
Dynamic Volumetric lighting(all of KZ2's volumetric lighting is static and precalculated)
Day/Night Cycle(essentially means that the sun is a massive light source. It is dynamic. KZ2, the natural lighting is all pre-baked and pre-calculated, not at all dynamic)
SSAO(Alan Wake has SSAO. KZ2 does not. It uses pre-baked AO)
It has dynamic lighting. In general, the lighting engine in Alan Wake is superior to the one in KZ2. It certainly has more features, and isn't really lacking anything significant next to KZ2...

Yep, still all looks great - especially those .gif's .Unless I missed some threads where lemmings were hyping a cutscene or something like that, I don't see the point here.

I'm not sure where you're going with this considering we've already seen gameplay video's ? We know the game looks great ?
lol, its still "in-engine" so i dont get what this post is supposed to prove. Cows used the same argument with MGS4, Heavy Rain, and UC2. Same applies here, the final game will look really close to what we saw in the vid. And not ALL of it was pre-rendered, i saw jaggies in the cafe' scene ;)navyguy21Yeah what? Its still in engine and not separately created media. Its Alan Wake graphics. Cows feeling insecure eh
Its still using the "in-game" engine to render those scenes. Its just been recorded before hand so it doesnt make a difference, Its just to cover up load times. I never saw anyone complaining at the fact that FFXIII had actual non ingame prerenderings? Now that its Alan Wake its a big deal?

uncharted 2 not eligible for graphics king either? considering it also uses pre-rendered cutscenes which look better than gameplay, I fail to see how the two games are different.
