Considering the amount of time and money that went into SWTOR, it's really no shock that Bioware is charging a monthly fee. However, I agree that buying MMO's at launch is generally a bad idea.

I've been playing SWTOR since the day it went live (birthday present, I didn't physically buy it) and the game is the most polished MMO that I've ever seen at launch. Most of the complaints are computer illiterates who do not realize that their machine cannot handle SWTOR.

yeah I definitely agree with the last part. I know a dude who didn't even check the requirements and tried to run the game off an 13 year old laptop running DOS.

PC Building 101; Just because something is expensive doesn't make it a good product. Any GPU that consumes that much power is a piece of @#$%. You basically went with an expensive rig because you thought it would make you look cool because you can run high-end games.

Definitely. People are going into SWTOR off their machines that crawl while playing WoW and their wondering why they cannot run SWTOR effeciently.

Yeah I know that you think a 850 watt was needed for one GTX 280. Are you kidding me? If you had two, then yeah that would be understandable. But one GTX 280? Really? Wait now you're going to tell us you have two of them, right? A GeForce GTX 280 requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit at minimum if you use it in a high-end system. I don't get it. This is a game at launch, Patch 1.1 is on the PTS, the patch contains fixes to bugs and will be deployed to live servers pretty soon.

I typically use a Dell XPS 17 and it can pretty much run everything on the market, no heating or loud fans noises either.

I agree. Paying for a game should be enough. Paying to play something you paid for is ludicrous.

Well, you came into this thread and proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that you literally have no credible knowledge for PC hardware. I hope you can walk away with more knowledge than you had beforehand so that you may better your skills as a Builder of PCs. If not? Oh well, I guess there's always one somewhere.

Being nitpicky isn't a good characteristic to have. It's better to just admit you have nothing else to say. 850w was needed for preparation.

bullsh*t you need an 850 for a GTX280. It does about 300W at peak so all you'd need is a quality 550W+ (something with 40A on the 12v). People run GTX280s fine on a 650. Also the C2Q Extreme? llololololololololol. 6GB RAM too? LGA775 is dual channel, you're only gimping your machine lol

Judging by your spcecs in your sig (old or new), you don't know anything about computers. Not only that, but you bought an alienware, everyone knows that they are overpriced, you could have built a computer like a million times better than what you have as your main rig and your laptop if you used the money you "saved" by getting that laptop.

lol. I dont know anything about computers because i have money and you dont? Like I said before though... the rig is three years old, stop paying too much attention to it and get the hell over it. I got this laptop for school because I'm a player like that.
