Not really. Early impressions have the game controlling awkwardly hence the need for the "stand".

* Stand is optional * Gee, you have the full game and finished?WTF!?
They might as well just straight out admit that's it's blimmin difficult to play that machine with 3D turned on and not lose the 3D effect often.
So, instead of making a better glasses-free 3D screen that actually has a decent viewing angle, where you don't constantly lose the 3D effect, here's the rather crap short-term solution.
Cheers Nintendo.
Stand for Kid Icarus = Wii Wheel for Mario Kart Seriously, CHILL. ALL of you !!WTF!?

It is something free that some people might use, why the hell is so many people complaining about something free and optional. And for all the people saying "lol portable lawls" I hope none of you ever turn on your portable system of choice while at home. I end up playing mine more while at home while watching TV or before bed sometimes. Even with the stand it is still a portable because you can move it anywhere that you want, your aren't limited to wherever the TV is. Oh and onemore time, it is FREE and OPTIONAL
Lol, I have nothing with this, finally I will be able to play my 3DS on the table without having the 3DS lay ontop of my fingers.
Not sure why people care that it comes with a stand so much. It's not like it's going to be required to play the game. Nintendo is trying to make something that will make you more conformable when playing the game. HarlockJC
This.
People, calm down please. Its just a stand, you can play both your 3DS and Kid Icarus without the stand if you so feel like it or you can play using the stand. Whatever you find more comfortable.

So Because Nintendo's giving a free stand with each copy of the game, the game is gonna 'flop hard.' You're logic is flawed and idiotic. What the hell are you talking about? First off, as was already stated twice in this thread, the stand has nothing to do with the 3D, it's there to help support your hand since the controls require the stylus. Also, the 3D screen on the 3DS is fine. Much better than wearing glasses. I have no problem with an extra, free accessory, I just don't see how this is necessary, since many DS games also used a stylus and didn't need a stand.WTF!?

Well it is Nintendo.....you have to expect retarded moves by this company. No DVD, no HD, Virtual Boy, Robots, power gloves, the Wii, Vitality Sensor......They have a history of stupidity.

That looks utterly useless. Heil68
Holding the 3DS on one hand while using the slide pad+left shoulder button all at once is not viable for long play sessions so the stand will be a necessity for Kid Icarus.

The Power Glove was third party but ofcourse when somebody says that people ignore it because it is one more thing to bash Nintendo on when it isn't even from Nintendo.
Nintendo isn't responsible for the Power Glove.
Mattel is the creator of the Power Glove.
Is the next Pokemon game coming with an attachable remote-sized control panel for the pokedex interface?
BTW, why couldn't Ocarina of Time come with an extra mute button to make Navi shut the **** up?

3DS was never designed to be held with one hand for long periods of time like the DS. At least people who aren't a fan of hand cramps have something that alleviates the strain. I've been hearing complaints from gaming "journalists" about this particular games controls for a while now. MFDOOM1983Lol "hand cramps" Then you should all buff up and stop acting like a bunch of pansies.

If it was a normal DS title there wouldn't be that problem because they could just rest the DS on their lap and still see the screen.
But with the 3DS you can't do that the system has to be lifted up so it is in the proper viewing angle.
When I get this game I will probably just play it at home so I don't have to carry the stand.

Now all nintendo needs to do is invest in their online infrastructure and make a account based system. Sucks to be a fanboy and praise everything a company does. the stand is for people playing in 3d. because if u tilt the 3ds the 3d will get distorted, but while using the stand the 3ds will not tilt thus u can enjoy the game which uses touch gameplay in 3d

Also journalist that played the game had trouble using the touchscreen with the slide-pad and their hands started cramping this is supposed to stop their hands from cramping.[QUOTE="MFDOOM1983"]3DS was never designed to be held with one hand for long periods of time like the DS. 3DS is the worst Nintendo handheld when it comes to comfort, not saying much though but it's still holds this title. Kid Icarus needs this stand, at least for me. I have medium sized hands for the record.
Kid Icarus: Uprising has an uncomfortable control scheme, thus the stand to make it easier to play it. lol @ people saying it's because its so you don't lose the 3D effect. Smh.HaziqonfireBut you do lose the effect when you press buttons, it only takes a tiny movement to ruin the 3D effect and even my 7 year old has taken to just turning it off now (she does however love that console regardless).

Pricing: Bought the original price, worth it since I have 20 free games
Analogue: Seriously? A second one isn't NEEDED. A gyroscope or touch screen can EASILY replace it
Software: 3 AAA games 8 AA games 15 A games
Nothing to do with fanboyism  its not even an insult. If I see a mistake, I mention it. For example, the 3DS launch line-up was lackluster with the exception of a game or two, but now its irrelevant. According to your logic, you're an attention-seeking troll. Sucks to be a troll and bash everything a company does. But I guess providing valid arguments in Nintendo's defense is "fanboyism", right? ;)

I didn't need to do that in 3D Land or OoT, but I have to turn it off in MK7 because turning the slide pad fast like I do in MK7 moves the system itself and it gets annoying when I play competetively.
However I can speedrun and whatnot in 3D Land without any issues with the 3D. I actually use the 3D all the time because it helps me judge where I am better.

In most of the games I play the 3D is always at max.I still need 3D Land and MK7 but I will probably only turn the 3D off in MK7.
It uses the stylus AND the analog for control. A stand is better than holding the 3DS with one hand.

No it won't. A good amount DS games and probably 3DS games will still use Dpad/analog/buttons mainly, with maybe some secondary touch control. SuperMario 3D land still used the analog nub and buttons.
Makes sense. It's pretty hard to hold the thing up while using the analog plus touch screen scheme. It's not so much a design flaw as an inevitability when utilizing a stylus-based touch screen.
You could argue that this is evidence for a second analog stick. Problem is the second stick would essentially replace the stylus, something which Nintendo isn't willing to do. It would take away the signature touch controls and make the thing just another console controller.
