Announcement

Nintendo's upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player's arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo's commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.

Nintendo

True 1 to 1 controls on the Wii. I'm real interested in seeing what they do with this

IT's more accurate. The attachment is an additional sensor, read over the link and you'll understand.

its like the baseball bat in wii sports, as apose to the sword in LoZ:TP

edit: it means instead of waggle you can now control an object in the manner in which you are in real life.

Seems pretty interesting. Looks like Nintendo is fixing the flaws to their console. All they need to do is fix the storage problem and online and it'll be perfect

so are they finally admitting that the wiimote can only sense rudementary motions? how will this come into play unless you have games built that need it?

Interesting. ALthough, I already feel like the Wiimote offers 1-1 motion control. The thing the Wiimote seems to suck at is games where you have to face away from the screen...like with golf games. The controller works amazing when pointing at the screen, or shaking it. But anything that relies on the motion only, and you aren't pointing at the screen, is always glitchy.

Will this add-on fix that problem?

i like the fact that everyine is basically forced to buy it if they want precision like the wii should be in the first place. its like nintendo is saying "yea, the wiimote kinda sucks but for some extra cash you get the real deal"

i found fps control already worked fine because it used the IR sensor which worked well to start. it'll be this like sword fighting and hand manipulation beyond pointing that will benifit the most.

HUGE is the right word, my friend. Combined, all the combo could register with almost perfedct exactitude the arm's movement. Think of all possibilities. This time, they could be almost limitless.

This should've been standard at launch. Something tells me that this will COME with a key first party game soon to be announced. Thats usually how nintendo deals out new tech. (Remember the expansion graphics card that came with Turok II for the N64? Or the rumble pack that came with Starfox? And the horrid Wii Wheel with Mario Kart.)

Yes well, most games woulden't have been designed for perfect 1:1 motion, so I doubt it will just flat out work and make everything flawless.

True, but it will fix many of the problems the games have with controls, but it still won't make Ninjabread Man a good game.

I just realised this is great and all, but are third party developers going to use it well? They can't make a good game with the remote's normal motion sensors...:?

Yeah and when the Wii launched with the wiimote the possibilities were also limitless and they turned out to be pretty damn limited when you look at the software we got afterwards. I wouldn't get my hopes up about this. So far nothing Nintendo does is as we imagined it would be. Their best games rarely use motion at all.
