lol people have to pay to unlock hard mode, a t-shirt with Switch logo
"Finally?"
Did you miss Mario Kart 8's DLC?
Did you miss Hyrule Warriors?
Did you forget Smash 4 exists? where there's a whole $80 extra to that game?
This is also not the first time Nintendo has decided to explore extra content for their Zelda games. They've wanted to sell us Expansions since Ocarina of Time or heck probably earlier with A Link to the Past using Satellaview.
Heck just look at some recently re-released Zeldas like Ocarina of Time 3D or Twilight Princess. Ocarina of Time 3D adds in hint statues and Twilight Princess adds in a whole new dungeon (which you can only access through amiibo which can be seen as "DLC") and Hero Mode which I don't remember EVER being an option for that game on the Gamecube OR the Wii version.
So really the idea of Zelda having Expansive content isn't all that "new". But it is interesting.
@nintendoboy16: Proof they held this back from the main game?
My question is this. You're still replying to me after my Kimishima/Trump comparison?
Besides probably the hard mode... admittedly, none! Maybe not the best quote to pick given their former stance on DLC, but announcing this before the damn game even releases does NOT give good vibes here. I mean, for f*** sake, OoT 3D never had "Master Quest" behind a paywall. You'd think they'd know better. Guess not!
So no proof. Thought so.
>Actually got personally insulted by fucking optional Cloud DLC
>Rational thought
I wonder if this will attract more MS/Sony fanbois cause they secretly love this stuff. It's been the norm there. I guess we'll see how well the DLC turns out. People here are outright negative when most Nintendo DLC has been good or skippable stuff. I'm kinda excited to see Zelda being supported after the launch.
I've never bought a season pass and I don't plan on it now. If devs want to withhold content 99% of the time I'll get the game used out of the bargain bin. I'm a die hard Zelda fan and I'm going to make an exception this time. But if I feel they screwed me on content it will be the last time I buy a Zelda game. I'm at the end of my rope with modern gaming. I'm sick of shady business practices. So much so I've been temped to get rid of my modern systems and go retro only.
The first DLC pack is an easy pass for me. Have no interest in a cave of trials and a stupid Switch shirt lol. Having a difficulty setting as locked DLC content is garbage, but if the base game is decently challenging as is, then I can probably live without it. Only reason Hero mode was of interest to me in A link Between Worlds, as well as the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD remakes because the base games for them all, as much as I like them, are piss easy.
The second one sounds more interesting though, and atleast doesn't come out until the Holidays when BotW will already have been out for a while. The fact that they are announcing this stuff now is kind of suspect, but a long as this new content wasn't held back from the main game and wasn't created until much later in development, I'm not horribly bothered by this for the most part (which is how I feel about DLC in general; it's fine as long as cointent that could easily be in the main game wasn't held back).
I guess I'd need more info about the development and timing behind the DLC stuff, as well as actually play BotW myself before I could ultimately judge how good/bad this is.
Honestly, we should have all seen this coming. Nintendo went from reasonable (MK8) to somewhat bullshit (Smash 4) and now we get total bullshit (Breath of the Wild)
For almost the same amount of content you get for like Dark Souls 3. $20 is a reasonable Price. (Dark Souls 3's season pass is $25)
heck I'd probably argue that this is way more worth it then Uncharted 4's Season pass (which was $25 and they removed it after announcing their Stand alone Project).
No way... This is so stupid... On their launch title... AND ONE OF THE THINGS LOCKED IS HARD MODE!??!?!
I don't get it either. Hero Mode should really be a Standard for Zelda games, but it's only a standard for their Re-released ones. Almost no New Zelda game actually launches with a "Hero" Mode. unless this isn't Hero Mode, but a New Harder one which I doubt it is.
Who knows maybe Nintendo will start dropping the price of games faster too.
Only if they don't sell.
It took between 30 to 60 hours to beat TP. Judging by the size of the world and its reported ''density'', I estimate that Breath of the Wild could have at least 100 hours of content. Just a guess.
So no proof. Thought so.

Because NO ONE has EVER been mad at certain options. Not like no one has ever been mad at on-disc DLC that ws still optional to buy (SFxT).
How many times to I have to state WHY I (and many others) hate Cloud in Smash? Anymore and we'll derail the thread to the point of being unrecognizable.
@LegatoSkyheart: Bro, chill out. I clearly did not mean that they haven't done DLC (especially given the fact that I own Smash, Kart and Splatoon) But the expansion pass wording is new. So is the added content based on story. Clearly this is the first time Nintendo has done story based DLC.
No way... This is so stupid... On their launch title... AND ONE OF THE THINGS LOCKED IS HARD MODE!??!?!
Yup...WTF is Nintendo thinking/smoking???....going down the shit path...like Evil Arts. :P
@sHaDyCuBe321: Nah, Fire Emblem and Mario Kart 8 both have Season Passes. Not "New" to Nintendo.
Also Story DLC is not New to Nintendo either due to Fire Emblem Awakening Existing.

yeah, but it was still a season pass.

It's all because Square ditched NIntendo and put FFVII on the PS1.
So basically he hates Cloud's inclusion because of a business decision that happened two decades ago, while ignoring that:
-Nintendo themselves clearly don't give a s*** anymore abut what happened back then
-Cloud has made appearances in games that have appeared on Nintendo systems, before Smash 4 was even a thing.

I would be super pist if I was a Wii U owner and bought this system early thinking I was getting a great exclusive Zelda. Not only were Wii U owners screwed by what now looks to be intentional delays so the Switch can have a decent launch, but they have the inferior version of a game that was originally created for their console. And to add to it you have DLC. Content you'll have to pay for later to get the full game. Nintendo continues to leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Yes? Or is @DJ-Lafleur right about your lack of logic?

I am a Wii U owner who bought the system for the great exclusive Zelda, who is not super pissed. To add to that:
Give me a break. You're not fooling anyone. This nonsensical concern trolling is getting out of hand.

I think this is his new thing, since he caught shit for constant family guy clips. I dunno if he thinks he's being mysterious or something.

It's actually my reputation overall, which go as far as getting bashed for my own opinions on games I don't agree with people on, and not just my "stupidity" as it's frequently pointed out. And why would anyone like to hear from idiots?
Do you really want to know?
Yes? Or is @DJ-Lafleur right about your lack of logic?
You want to call it lack of logic? Fine! I really don't give a damn...
Yes, Lafleur was right on my reasons for hating Cloud in Smash. However, him citing that Nintendo "doesn't care" about a past event that shaped them up into what they are today is a problem. Relations between Nintendo and third parties (especially Square Enix) have HARDLY changed at all and Smash appearances are NO WAY to improve it. As I keep saying, Final Fantasy VII is pretty much a symbol to how BAD relations between Nintendo and third parties are.
That, he also mentions irrelevant appearances in games that hardly make a dent compared to other guest fighters. A cameo in Thearythym? Several handheld Kingdom Hearts where he's only a cameo? Compare that to the games Snake was playable. Compare that to the games Ryu was playable on.
My stance is never going to change here. It may have for Bayonetta (where I just realized my hypocrisy in bashing her in a kids fighter by playing a LEGO Marvel game with R rated characters and replaying Brawl), but not for Cloud. Pardon me for not agreeing that there is anything good...
*sigh*
This is a load of BS. We can choose to not comply, though. If we vote with our wallets and show that this BS won't fly, they will hopefully get the message.

I sure as hell won't be buying the DLC. Breath of the Wild is lucky it didn't hit my boycott list alongside Street Fighter X Tekken.

FFVII is almost 20 years old. You are complaining about a DLC character from a game that is over 15 years old.
Yeah this is very illogical. Almost as illogical as Sonic fans fighting over voice actors.
This is a load of BS. We can choose to not comply, though. If we vote with our wallets and show that this BS won't fly, they will hopefully get the message.
Pray for that to happen. While non-Nintendo or non-Zelda fans will not buy the DLC, Nintendo or Zelda fans may.
For anyone that will try the lazy and stupid defense for that difficulty mode being dlc, as it could be a masterquest mix up difficulty. Yeah games like Bayonetta exist, Bayonetta has higher difficulties that changes entire enemy layouts during the game, harder enemies showing up earlier, higher quantity of enemies, the enemies gain new mechanics on said higher difficulties, and you the player lose a mechanic (witch time), because the combat engine is fleshed out enough that you should be able to go buck wild without it.
Not fucking dlc. On the fucking disc.
Nintendo having a dull dlc pack with "passable content" would be a who fucking cares, chances are it would be utterly throw away content that barely adds to the game, and is borderline addition by subtraction. A difficulty mode is a little different, especially for an open world sandbox game that has some light survival mechanics thrown in now.
"well they are just being like everyone else"...except that's not common for dlc in other triple a products. It's actually rare you get shit like Metro Last Light's ranger mode being preorder dlc, and it goes without saying Nintendo should be expected to do something like what CDPR did with their dlc, not somehow go below the shit tier of the likes EA, Ubisoft, n Activision.
So far, Nintendos DLC was well worth the asking price (especially in Mario Kart 8), so I'm looking forward to how much content we actually get.
@nintendoboy16: You're honestly going to boycot a game for having optional DLC? You could just take the mature approach and just like, you know, not buy the optional DLC?
This comment makes you sound like a 6-year old having a tantrum.
No! Breath of the Wild, I'm not boycotting. Hence the term "It's lucky it's not on the boycott list as Street Fighter X Tekken (a game I did boycott, still am, for it's on disc DLC practices)".

And speaking of "Master Quest" funny that, the most recent re-release of Ocarina of Time on 3DS INCLUDED that with no cost. There is no justification for this crap!

This sounds a lot worse than any of those, though.

The only thing that sounds bad is the vagueness of it all. Really all you're paying for is $20 for a Story Expansion sometime in the Winter.
@nintendoboy16: No one think they put Cloud in Smash to improve their relation with Square Enix... He's just there because he's popular. That's it. N64 cartrigdes limited space, GC disk spaces, Wii limited hardware, WiiU unpopularity and limited hardware..... Nintendo is the one to blame for losing 3rd party. Nintendo moved on but apparently you didn't.
Your only good point is that he wasn't playable on a Nintendo console.
The main complain is the hard mode in paid DLC, which is stupid, yes. If it wasn't for that, I don't think there would a problem.

Which is still better then what most companies do. Heck FF 15 was a $30 season pass with ZERO information and no one complained.

I think will only be bad if the hard mode isnt unique. They might do something cool for such a big world.

It doesn't matter who is to blame (and Nintendo didn't move on, if they did, third parties would be crawling back... and that ain't happening). What does matter is the criteria and Cloud doesn't fit in at all.

And? A 15+ year old game that Nintendo still has yet to even see approach their consoles.
If it's illogical to complain about a guest star. Then how come NO ONE complained with Soul Calibur fans criticizing Star Wars characters in Soul Calibur IV and no one said a thing to Naruto fans when they complained about a Tekken character in one of the UNS games?
$20 for a season pass isn't that bad tbh
the standard range of prices for season passes for other games is $25-$40
and for what you're getting for $20, it's pretty good

1. So what?
2. If that's true then it is illogical too (assuming you can provide proof). Either way gamers on the web complain about dumb shit. In other news water is wet and people are stupid.
3. Your "argument" is still illogical

I meant that they moved on from the Square Enix FFVII ditch. 3rd party are not crawling back because Nintendo didn't learn from their past mistakes.... so far.
