@Jag85: You guys can't decide what generation you want Switch to be part of. And no, it wasn't outclassed by a game with PS2 textures. Rogue Galaxy on the PS2 looks better than BOTW:

Keep trying to copy Pedro and think that deflection would make me mad like Nathan, ROFLMAO! It's sad to see you can't even come up with your own way to deflect from the bu*tthurtness.

Oh and calling Sony first party titles, sophisticated...

lmao you're so casual you censor the word "butthurt"

So, let me guess this is the best that you could come up on your own. Tsk Tsk!

@Jag85: was it, though?

Did you watch the videos? In every way besides visuals, yes. You'll have to excuse Nintendo's dated graphics. While Gorilla was modeling the veins in static blades of grass, Nintendo was busy trying to recreate the laws of physics on weaker hardware.

All that aside though, these are both great games. Horizon prioritized visual fidelity, and largely succeeded. It's a beautiful world they built. I look forward to seeing how they expand in in Forbidden West. Nintendo prioritized interactivity, and largely succeeded. It's a fun sandbox to dick around in. I look forward to how they expand on it in BotW2.

Ratchet and Clank is a perfect example of how crap videogame storytelling really is. When they tried to sell that shit as an actual movie, it was universally shat upon. 21% on Rotten Tomatoes. I wish they spent less time on cutscenes and voice actors, and more time making less floaty jumping physics.

Look, I think these are perfectly good games, but Insomniac should leave the storytelling to Pixar.

Remember when Nintendo tried to sell Mario as a movie?

Okay, that was a pretty funny reply. I tip my hat sir :)

No Sony game is as widely praised as BOTW.

None of the 900 Ubisoft open world game are as polished or as good as BOTW.

Bloodborne has been widely more praised and for longer as well.

Too bad BB on PS5 runs worse than BotW does on a tablet.

Game hasn't been updated in like 6 years. It's a damn shame.

Sure. Fromsoft hasn't learned what optimization means.

Still, BB has always been praised way more than BotW.

In terms of the physics engine, chemistry engine, environmental interactivity, and world design, BOTW completely outclasses HZW and every other PS4/PS5 exclusive to date. And Nintendo were able to achieve it on weaker Switch hardware barely more powerful than the PS3/X360.

If your only response is "muh textures"... then that just makes cows look like a bunch of graphics whores who've never heard of something called "gameplay" before.

Lol, good one. We all know you don't actually play the games you complain about 😆 Have fun with Roblox on the chromebook. It's a system seller!

Why would I play the 'games' I complain about? Just to waste money or not to offend your feelings, bu*thurt cow? I know it's a good one because it's true.

Oh and the irony when Roblox has more gameplay than the entirety of Sony first party combined. ROFLMAO!

True. Roblox does indeed have more gameplay than every first-party Sony game for the PS4 and PS5.

But once again, cows are behaving like a bunch of graphics whores who have no argument besides "muh graphics".

And it was all factually wrong. HZD has better combat, more satisfying weapons, better story, better visuals, a more lively world, more enemy variety, actual boss fights.

BOTW is literally nothing more than a big scavenger hunt to find 900 nuts. Garbage game for sheep with a Peter Pan fetish.

Are you seriously trying to use Ratchet and Clank. As an example of something done right in a thread about story telling?

Also, game in general is the same old same old Ratchet and Clank.

  • Low Skill Ceiling, not a lot of depth
  • Trying too hard to be funny, to compensate for the lack of soul.
  • Super Repetitive, so much so the game outlasts its welcome halfway through.

There is a reason Mario is still king of platformers and Breath of the wild is far more talked about than Horizon.

Sorry to break the news to you, but during the last part of last gen, Sony sold the Playstation name to a shell corp featuring blue haired activists, who took their new Playstation company to progressive HQ USA, aka California.

They didn't want people to know that the new PS brand has cut all ties with the former Playstation associates.

not really...most of these games use pre built engines like the cry engine or the unreal engine. Nintendo also has their own engines, and the work they put into it is the same, even if the hardware is crap.

i disagree...BoTW looks fantastic, its very colorful and pretty. It looks great even on a 65 inch TV. The art style is different, it doesn't focus on details like other games do, but thats fine. Most of the games nintendo makes are great graphically speaking because the art style they use doesn't need as much details. Its too bad 3rd party games translate into trash though, and thats because the realistic direction these games try to push, doesn't sit well with the switch hardware.

TLOU still is pretty far behind games like Gears of War in terms of gunplay. And any god of war has been fairly mediocre in its action adventure aspects. While the new GoW is better than the past ones. But that isnt really a high bar. The new God of War was well executed, but didnt push boundries like Breath of the Wild did.

@blaznwiipspman1: Breath of the wild is low tier graphically. That is not even debatable.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is also stylized but sports upper mid tier graphics.

Nah, they just need to sell all of their games at $20-30 on PC. Maybe even a $5/month sub service. Whenever they try to make a story, we end up with crap like recent Pokemon games, the Xenoblade series, or Other M. Better for them to not even try and just price their games correctly.

Are you serious? TLOU2 has the best gunplay of any third person game. Gears gunplay is stuck in 2006. It feels and plays like an old game.

BOTW did some nice things id like to see in open world games, but at the same time it felt very empty and the shrines are mediocre to say the least.

lets go back a bit, tlou2 sucks ass, and its not even in the same breath as TLOU1. By itself, TLOU2 is a good game, but comparing it to the first, its a big decline. To the point im not even sure its made by the same naughty dog I remember. I'm not even sure why Im dissapointed in it...it just doesn't measure up to the first one in my view. Seeing Joel go out the way he did also left a sour taste. The whole main point of the story diverges from the first one. I mean, they were trying to find a cure, now in the second one its about revenge. Being simpler in story line, scope would have made the game better. Go back to saving the world, that was far simpler and easier to understand.

I mean killing some random npc at the very end of the first game is the entire premise for TLOU2...what a crazy stretch.

See? That's YOUR OPINION. I like GOW over anything released by Nintendo in a decade plus. I like TLOU2 over anything Nintendo released on the WiiU and Switch. Just a few examples.

That's just your opinion. I liked TLOU2 over the first one. From story, to characters and especially gameplay. Looking at its sales and all the awards it got, i am not the only one in that boat, so no, tlou2 does not suck any ass.

people bought tlou2 because of the hype over tlou1..I would know, I'm one of them. I haven't touched it in a while, im maybe 1/4 of the way through but I plan to beat it eventually. I only bought tlou2 back in november, but its been 7 months without much progress. I played tlou1 every day for a month to beat it, it was that good.

False. Months before the game came out, we've learned what happens in the sequel and it got more hate than anything i've seen in years. The said hype from TLOU1 was instantly destroyed. People bought it because if you listen to non biased reviews, everyone is saying that the game is good and its gameplay (the most important portion of game) is the best we've seen from ND. You being at 1/4th of the game almost a year later tells me that you don't care about the series. That's it.

@hardwenzen: Techwise. Definately. Sony has arguablythe best tech in the industry right now. Gameplaywise? Don't make me laugh. Last game with great gameplay Sony published was Bloodborne and that game is over half a decade old.

Yes I am serious. Whether it is feedback, perfect reload, and a lot of other smaller details that add up. Gunplay in Gears of War is arguably the strongest in the genre.

I don't believe you. Its hard for me to imagine someone praising perfect reload in 2021. I praised it in 2006 lmao. How is it that people are even paying attention to something this uninteresting. Maybe because these games have absolutely nothing going for them?

@Maroxad: Agreed. I absolutely love the gunplay in the Gears of War games myself. Love the perfect reload mechanic as well. Becomes like second nature when you get a feel for each weapon and when to time that perfect reload for it. Very nice extra layer to the gameplay.

@hardwenzen: It helps you get a good feel for every weapon and adds a gameplay element to an otherwise piece of gameplay downtime.

It sure is a hell lot more substantial than "YOUR OPINION".

@hardwenzen: obviously that's not it, since I played the tlou daily for a month until I beat it. It's the mark of a great game that it hooks you till the end. In fact I could probably replay tlou1 again and beat it before I touch tlou2. I really don't know why I don't like tlou2 as much, its just the way it is.

I've been playing naughty dog games since back on the ps3 in 2008, the first uncharted. I've been a huge fan of theirs ever since. They are one of my favorite developers not just on the Playstation but across ALL platforms. I was a bit disappointed with tlou2, but I'll stick by ND either way.

I feel like you're trolling me. Saying that the gunplay from Gears, a game that barely has seen any improvements since 2006 is good, makes me laugh a bit. It feels snappy and accurate, yes. But good? lol come on. TLOU2 gunplay destroys gears. You should never even compare the two. There is a reason people are creating montages of simply killing shit in the campaign of tlou2. The whole combat system in that game is so well executed, that its entertaining to watch. Ain't nobody does this shit in gears lmao (or most games for that matter). There's nothing to see in that game, its been dead since Gears 3.

Stay Salty

https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/video-game-movies-ranked-worst-to-best/

Rat**** movie was worse regarded than the Mario movie was. And that was with dozens of failures to learn from.

I'm pretty sure Nathan was joking here. At least I hope he was. The Mario Bros. movie was a bizarre mess that barely had anything to do with the game. Ratchet and Clank strait up used its movie as the cutscenes in the remake, so it perfectly illustrates my point that what passes as good storytelling in videogames does not cut it in a real movie.

@hardwenzen: You accuse me of trolling, yet you cannot even go into the specifics to argue your case. The extremely weighty gunplay of Gears of War is why the multiplayer scene has such a strong playerbase, even today. You are literally the only person I have seen trying to argue this.

There are cropped youtube videos? is this really gonna be your argument? I can pull off something similarly dumb. Gears of War also has something resembling a competitive scene, and have had since the original. TLOU doesnt really have a competitive scene. Unlike TLOU Gears of War doesnt need to be heavily cropped to be interesting to watch.

Gods, I am embarassed for you, first you try to argue "muh opinion", then I go into specifics, and then you deny without providing any actual argument, then you accuse me of trolling while still not providing anything on why TLOU's gunplay is better than GeoW. You are literally trying to argue feelings against facts.

Edit: I can bring it further as well. How much of a speedrunning community does Ratchet even have?

Mario Odyssey has one of the most active speedrunning communities of any game out there, despite the game being a few years old now. How much of any kind of high level gameplay community does ratchet even have? Nada, silch.

Whether it is TLOU or Ratchet, the skill ceiling of both games is simply put too low. Sorry, but I am not entertained by such shallow games. Outside of Gran Turismo, Sony's game's lack any kind of competitive scene, whether it is competitive multiplayer found in Halo, Gears, Smash and Pokemon, or the Speedrunning communitities popular in Nintendo games.

What games does Sony have that actually let people be good at their games?

Gears 5 is the 48th most played game on Xbox. No one gives a flying fart about it in 2021. You undercover lemmings posing as sheep is getting sad. Please join us in the year 2021. It's not 2007 anymore.

I showed you a gunplay specific video. This should be enough for you to see how much of a massive difference there is between the two. When was the last time you've heard a single person praising Gears gunplay? Maybe 2008. Its outdated. It feels clunky. Characters aren't "extremely weighty" but instead have very robotic animations like they were animated over ten years ago.

The fluidity of the gunplay & melee in TLOU2 is unmatched in a third person game. You can deny it all you want, but there's a reason why some games such as RDR2 & TLOU2 are being praised for their animations, while nobody even cares about them in Gears of War. Animations in a third person game are one of the most important aspects, and barrel rolling and sticking to walls like we in 2006 ain't it lmao.

Are you really trying to insinuate that the fluidity of a melee/ranged comes close to actual character action games like Bayonetta or DMC? You know where you actually weave in the two? Not to mention, this has nothing to do with Gunplay.

And animations is all you got? Sorry I prefer substance over flash. They are important for feel. But that is it.

Since I was too late in my edit I will post it here so you can see it:

I can bring it further as well. How much of a speedrunning community does Ratchet even have?

Undercover lemming? My entire point is that Sony just does third rate gameplay coupled with second rate cinematics.

Why wont you guys try to actually provide anything substantive? Rather than baseless arguments. Your arguments are extremely weak.
