can't be worse has MS sending me like 3 emails a week telling me buy a movie or some garbage game

[QUOTE="dobzilian"]HMMM... Wut? No offence Nintendo but would it be better to advertise like on TV, Internet, magazines. Nintendo Direct was a great idea but this is just slow thinking as it been better when first released the WiiU rather than now. I've yet to see a game advertised since Xmas for the WiiU when you have had games like MH Tri released upon it but seen gazillion 3DS adverts.aroxx_ab
You seen the Monster Hunter Ultimate advertisement they do at movie-theaters? :P
Not been to a cinema since Dark Knight Rises. I dont have lot of spare time currently.[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"] Nintendo had top notch marketing? When? I only recall a few good commercials from them. Nothing I would call "top notch". Most were just facepalm worthy. charizard1605Well, for starters
But if you want some REAL good Nintendo marketing, look no further than Wii Would Like To Play. An ad that sold a hundred million Wiis.Even though those "Wii would like to play" commercials actually ruined the mood of some games (even if they did sell millions). See: Metroid Prime 3 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.Â
Dat 99 smash bros. commercial.Â
I can only dream of them doing something like that again. VendettaRed07
Besides, didn't people hate those commercials since they showed off how "Wii was for casuals"?
This took them like zero effort and maybe it would clarify what the Wii2 is. You can't first laugh about nobody understanding that its a new console and then critisize every time they try to adress it.
They do that?can't be worse has MS sending me like 3 emails a week telling me buy a movie or some garbage game

I loved getting a message on my Wii. Little thing looks awesome as it is... AND LET THE DISC SLOT GLOW BLUE TO MAKE IT REALLY LOOK COOL SO YOU WILL CREAM YOUR PANTS. And I did. Wii is so f*cking sexy. I humped my Wii. There.freedomfreak
Looked pretty damn sexy on my black Wii.
Wow, what the ***** happened to Nintedo's marketingg:|
I'm seriously starting to question if the marketing devision/budget was one of the first things cut when Nintendo hit profit problems last year.
In a "we're Nintendo, we don't need no stinckin marketing", kind of move.
But if you want some REAL good Nintendo marketing, look no further than Wii Would Like To Play. An ad that sold a hundred million Wiis. There was nothing special at all about the "Wii would like to play" commercials. I remember thinking they were stupid when they came out, and I think people are only looking back at them with rose tinted glasses because the Wii sold so many units. It was not the commercials themselves, but what they were selling that got people's attention. They saw what looked like families tricking their kids into excercising, and that was enough to sell the system. People look at the Wii U and they just see another Wii with a stupid wannabe iPad for a controller, and they don't want it-- especially since everyone and their grandma mothballed their original Wii about a month after buying it.charizard1605

In heat again... ::makes notes::Excuse me?
The problem is that nobody uses their Wii, so how will they get the message?FizzmanI only picked up my Wii to play Final Fantasy 3 (6) on the Virtual Console. Had to clean all the dust off the controllers, get new batteries, and add Wii Points. That's how long its been since I used the damn thing and its to play an old SNES game.
all they need is to drop the price because it seems their fans are not loyal enough to drop nearly $400 to play Mario and a few other games. And the thing is that when you look at the hardware you just have to wonder, why does it even costs that much? It has no blu-ray play, no HDD, the CPU is recycled from the Wii, only 2 Gig's of slow and outdated ram and a GPU that is only slightly more powerful than the Xbox's. This console shouldn't cost more than $200 flat because even $250 would still be pushing it.

What are you suggesting?

Play Your Wii Games And Accessories on the Wii-u
Â
so nintendo wants me to buy a new system thats just a little more powerful then the wii so i can play my Wii games.. ????Â
Â
makes perfect sense
Â
This.I don't even think anyone checks those. If you actually do, you already know that WiiU exists.
try again Nintendo. Make a commercial that doesn't suck horribly, or release some games that people will want/like. Maybe that will work.Â
VendettaRed07
Hey Nintendo... remember when your marketing used to be top notch? What happened?charizard1605Sega stopped doing commercials
No...ÂEven though those "Wii would like to play" commercials actually ruined the mood of some games (even if they did sell millions). See: Metroid Prime 3 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

This was at the peak of the Wii hype. When it hadn't released, when everyone was looking forward to it, and to seeing what the system would do. Wii Would Like to Play was the ultimate battle cry, and everyone rallied.Â
I also don't see how they ruined the mood of any game, especially Brawl.

So, you don't see how a lighthearted set of commercials badly mixed for something dark like Metroid? Imagine commercials like that for games like Mortal Kombat, GTA, or Madworld, that would surely help, would it?No...Â[QUOTE="charizard1605"]

So, you don't see how a lighthearted set of commercials work for something dark like Metroid? Imagine commercials like that for games like Mortal Kombat, GTA, or Madworld, that would surely help, would it? You're missing the point of the commercials: it doesn't matter how dark or light hearted a game is, everyone can play, there's something for everyone. If you're a core gamer who would prefer a shooter like Metroid, Wii has you covered. If you only casually pick the system up during a party, Wii has you covered. That was the promise of the Wii, and the ads delivered on that brilliantly.[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"]So, you don't see how a lighthearted set of commercials work for something dark like Metroid? I see nothing particularly desperate about that. Not that they have no reason to be desperate, of course, because they do.Â
Did they honestly use the term "glorious HD"? :lol:BrunoBRS
Well, yeah. My hypothesis is that they made the Wii U based on notes they took from what forum dwellers were saying. Obviously, it backfired. It HAD to backfire.Â

If this piques anyone's curiosity, then they'll google it, see the negative press and get differed. Meinhard1Like on how past Nintendo consoles post SNES didn't get negative press?
Too little too late.
Nintendo should have acted as soon as they realized that consumers where thinking that the Wii-U was a tablet for the Wii.

I'm absolutely dumbfounded by Nintendo's choices with the Wii U. I've been a fan of Nintendo for years, but this... this is just idiotic.
How about instead of sending a message that next to nobody is going to see, how about you spend all the money you saved by not doing a conference into advertising the Wii U and what it actually does, no I'm not talking about a 15 second clip of a kid playing with a gamepad because that's not going to work, we need to be told what the console is, what the console can do, I don't care if you have to do it in the style of a car commercial, you need to try harder.

That's the problem though, what does the Wii U actually do that the PS3 and 360 don't already do outside of the tablet controller gimmick?

They are probably working on that already.
