They may only make FPS but they have so much variety in that genre.

Left 4 Dead= The best co-op experience out

Half Life 2: Fantastic enviromental storytellng

Portal: Sent puzzlers into the space age, interesting and humourous writing

Team Fortress 2: In my opinion the best multiplayer FPS, great variety in classes, it has REAL character which is something quite rare for MP games, fantastic retro spy artstyle.

I don't see how sticking to a genre makes them the worse. If they continue to both innovate and create fantastic games why the fvck does it matter? Many directors stick to one genre of film but continue to push it foward and maybe take inspiration from other genres, much like Valve does.

The only games they have made that aren't first person shooters or FPAA is the Day of Defeat games (Dota 2 doesn't count since it's not even their idea and is also being made by the original creators of Dota).

Portal is a generic puzzle game with a get to point A to point B game style with a puzzle room in between, sorry that's not innovated at all. Now if Portal had an open world with puzzles then it could be a winner in my book. Wheatley was the only amusing thing about Portal 2.

HLF2 ep 2 and L4D1 are probably their only games that are actually good.
