No, there should be a place where children can enjoy games.

If Nintendo makes violent games on their system, that would mean children playing inappropriate games. Not a good thing.

By grow up you mean offer casual mainstream titles? It wouldn't hurt but I wouldn't define Nintendo's legacy as wanting to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Variety TC...Variety

don't like those kinds of games? Then just shut the hell up and don't play them, how hard is that?

i love my PC, PS3 and 360...but this gen I have also really enjoyed my Wii because of the different kinds of games that it had compared to the other consoles...that's why I buy all the consoles and game on PC...variety

Nintendo doesn't need to do anything...they're still profitable and still making money and that's what companies do and until that stops there is no need for them to "grow up"

of course Nintendo can publish children games as usual. I've nothing against games for kids. I'm saying side by side nintendo should also publish more violent action games ( Bayonetta II) or action rpg ( Mass Effect III) for gamers who love them. Wii U got great potential and this way both section of gamers can enjoy respective games on same console.

Eww.

Also, violence does not mean maturity. Majora's Mask is quite mature, and that was E rated.

Nintendo has a strategy that should keep them around for as long as kids play video games. Sony and Microsoft are currently catering to publishers who are constantly trying to come up with new ways to gouge their adult customers, and I don't think it will be a whole lot longer before adults playing video games will move back out of the mainstream.

For the one millionth time, yes they do. Don't get me wrong, though: I'm not a Nintendo hater. I own a Wii but don't own the other two consoles (since I PC game). I simply get frustrated that game companies stereotype Nintendo as a kids' company. Their consoles never get main-stream games like the others. The GameCube was a great little console with very little wrong with it, yet it still had relatively few games. Maybe Nintendo could improve their image by making new game concepts that are strictly mature in nature (teens and up). The only thing close is Metroid. Sadly, though, I think Nintendo has slipped up quite a bit in the past and I've just lost interrest.

And those games are nothing but re-hashed cash-ins. They suck.

I'm glad Nintendo is staying classy by doing their own thing and being the most original of the big 3 right now. That's one thing I like about them.

Is it wrong that I'm 27 years old but still enjoy playing Zelda, Mario, Metroid, etc? I mean, I like to game on Ps3/PSVita a lot and like what Sony offers, but also at the same time, Nintendo offers some unique games that are hard to miss if you ask me .. That's why I have my Wii/3DS and planning on getting a WiiU

I would like to see changes in the Mario and Zelda games and for there to be less Mario games (c'mon, 2 NSMB games in the same year?) but overall it doesn't really matter to me since I've been more focused on my PS3. Also, I'd love to see some more "hardcore" IPs like Xenoblade.

The ironic thing is that The Legend of Zelda is far more adult and mature than any Call of Duty or Gears of War game. Gratutious violence, sex, and/or gore =/= mature. When you start calling Mario and Legend of Zelda "child games" and disregard them based solely on your insecurity of playing a game that features bright colours, and isn't rated M, well I think in the end that means that you have some growing up to do not Nintendo.

Why do Nintendo supporters always label the critics as fanatics for blood and sex? I'm perfectly fine with Nintendo making exactly what they always have and I even play those games, myself. The problem is that they have developed a label for themselves as dominantly a kids' or family company because all they make are games that the whole family enjoys together. They make nothing else. Why was there only one truely realistic Zelda game (Twilight Princess); one that didn't remind me of after school cartoons? (I'm an adult, btw.) I think the average critic of Nintendo just sees kids' games when they look at them, and that's a serious problem.

The numbers seem fairly accurate based on all the other charts I've seen. Of course it's hard to get a completely accurate number when dealing with such large quantities. It's accurate enough to show a trend.

There's children's games on every console just as their are mature games on every Console. I find it amazing that Nintendo is the only company that gets scrutinized for younger aimed games when they have mature games like ZombiU on the Console. If it were aimed at children, don't you think ZombiU wouldn't be there? Seriously, alot of insecure people here need to grow up.

I don't consider lot's of violence and sex appeal to be "grown up", sure it's for an older audience but not necessarily a "mature" audience. There is a difference.

I like Nintendo, but that's mainly just for their 1st party. I wish Nintendo would make more powerful systems that can give a true next gen experience.
