Here's some information about the new Zelda game, I'll take out the highlight from the article.

"New Zelda could go casual"

Thanks again for killing yet another of my favorite series, Nintendo.

It'll be a ridiculously easy game that holds your hand throughout the entire thing. Just like every other casual title.

That will not only alienate but eliminate the rest of Ninty's core fanbase.

How about you take the actual quote: "New Zelda should be more accessible". Phantom Hourglass was "accessible" yet it was hardly a casual ruining of the franchise. And what franchises have nintendo killed with this approach:?

The article surmised that this could be the best Zelda yet.... You are pointing out one line, that is still conjecture in itself... Fail.... Troll or what?

"–This "Zelda team" is made of younger developers, it is explained that new faces will possibly bring new ideas to the series."

Assuming this is true this raises my hopes for the project.

What is good on that list? Let me point out some more things. "Zelda herself might play a larger role, or get her own game like Peach did" Bad idea. Just an awful idea. "New Zelda will have its own engine, could use the Wii's full power" Even more gimmicky waggle and no hope of being able to use the gamecube controller. "New Zelda may have more motion control" See above. "Midna may return if the fan support is high enough" Not good at all.

It turned out to be much, much easier than Super Mario 64. That's how it turned out. The only "difficult" challenge in the game was 100 purple coin challenge in Toy Time Galaxy...and even that wasn't all that hard. Galaxy was great fun, no doubt. But it is thes easiest Mario platformer ever made.

Zelda is pretty much already dead. The last great Zelda game was 8 years ago - Majora's Mask. That game was fresh, dark, and innovative, and they took a serious chance changing things around, and it worked. However, ever since then, the series has become very stale, boring and formulaic. The hardcore Nintendo fanboys are to blame for this, because they want the same thing over and over, and any change or improvements they riot against. "ZOMG ACTUAL DIALOGUE INSTEAD OF TEXT? BLASPHEMY!" - for example.

Zelda is THE only nintendo franchise I care about. If its not like OoT or TP and uses motion controls exclusively, no thanks. Sorry I don't want to play a cartoon game while I wave my hands like a retard I just don't. Hopefully they don't fk it up but it sure sounds like it so far.

Yes, it is easier. However, it by no means killed Mario.

Go back and replay SM64. The only time it is noticably more difficult than SMG is when the camera is in an akward place or when to controls are not quite as precise as SMG.

It's not a good quality, obviously. Who wants an easy game? That defeats the entire purpose of video games. I want a game that's so hard that I'll be angrily tossing my controller against the wall, because at the end of the day, those are the games you remember. It also means a lot more when you finally get past what you were having trouble with. Nowadays though, games just aren't very hard. Mostly just extremely easy games that hold your hand throughout the entire thing. I can't think of a single Wii title that was difficult.

Like TP then?

TP was easy with boss battles and such. However, it didn't hold your hand. You could get clues from Midna if you wanted to. It didn't tell you what to do every step of the way. I'm betting that the new Zelda will completely hold your hand every step of the way and alienate the hardcore fans. Nintendo is seeing how casuals are flocking to Wii. Now Nintendo will try to somehow find a balance for Zelda that satifies hardcore fans and new, casual fans. While doing this though, I think the next Zelda will end up making hardcore fans angry because it will be way too simplified.

Agreed, even sm64ds-with its slippery thumb strap control scheme-still proved easier for me when compared to galaxy.

Exactly my thoughts. What they said about the new Zelda is EPIC. A better story Zelda game? Better music, dungeons, overworld? Uses the Wii's Full power? Uses more motion control? Groundbreaking new Zelda features? This Zelda sounds like the one ive been waiting for since Majora's Mask. I hope its dark and I really hope it is a sequal to TP.

Wind Waker is the Zelda game the Nintendo fanboys are most stubborn about; it's possibly the most overrated Nintendo game of the decade. As for Twilight Princess, it was pretty much a boring Ocarina Of Time re-hash. And even in 2006 the graphics and art design looked seriously dated, when even in early 2005 they looked great. I think Ocarina Of Time and Majora's Mask were games that showed true growth in the Zelda series...they dared to change the way Zelda games were. But ever since Wind Waker, the series has become stale and too same-y, with no real change.

I disagree with you about Zelda WW being overated. I don't understand about how the Nintendo fanboys were stubborn about it. Do you mean they disliked it or over praised it? I remember a lot of people complained about Windwaker for being kiddy and not being like the Zelda games on N64. Only thing I will agree with you is how Zelda TP was boring.

Why make a game for a niche crowd when you can appeal to the masses?

I like when people get upset when a source most have never heard of gives lame info.

GinoNYC

I suppose you were in a coma whilst the rest of us were playing Wind Waker, eh?

Because unless you can effectively make the argument that Wind Waker was "stale, boring and formulaic" (doubtful) then you really only have Twilight Princess to attack (on consoles anyway), and that severely limits your "Zelda is pretty much already dead" argument, especially if you are willing to rub your eyes a bit and see that TP, despite not being particularly original, was an excellent game.
