Nintendo will pay for betraying the "hardcore" market

Nintendo should actually be commended for blurring the line between hardcore and casual so well. And while Q3/Q4 2008 hasn't been huge for Nintendo, I'm still enjoying my Wii more and more.

Wiiware, for example, has gone from having the worst to arguably having the best games in the last 6 or so weeks. Not bad.

PS And lets not sit here and talk about how the Xbox360 and PS3 are sooooo "hardcore". Hardcore gaming is dead this generation as far as I'm concerned.

Nintendo has always prayed on the 12 year old girls...They have never had a hardcore market....You just used to be alot younger when you liked their games....All_that_is_Man

Nintendo makes some brutally hard/"hardcore" games, you talk as if all they make is Nintendogs.

Maby not this gen, but eventually, when all the casuals and 12 year old girls get tired of the wii, they will wonder where all there true fanbase went. It might not happen untill next gen but when it does, I for one won't be around to bail them out.

I'm sure you were once a casual 12 year old gamer... I must of missed when they had 'hardcore' games.

I can't belive people think it would of been good buisness to bring out a high powered console like the 360/PS3, the market would of been flooded and one would of surely been killed off... look at the GameCube last time.

Instead they released a cheap/affordable fun for all the famaily console.....

Why can't people realise that gaming is now accessible to all young and old...

Do we really want the 3 consoles both offering the same thing, surely we don't..... The Wii offers something different something more famaily oriented, but in still offering something for the *cough* *cough* ""hardcore" gamer as some claim to be and how they were chucked by Nintendo for the casual market" e.g Fire Emblam, NMH, SMG, MP3, SMBB and with titles like Mad World, Fatel Frame being released soon.

I see the Wii as something that offers something different with games like De Blob, NMH and Zack Wiki which cannot be found on the 360/PS3 and then having the ability to good famaily and friends entertainment accesbile by everyone young and old "hardcore" or casual or "non" gamer....

So stop crying and being so freaking selfish everyone should be able to play games and I mean everyone.....

I really don't see how that relates to hardware... every console can make thoses games.

I was talking about people wanting a high powered Nintendo console which would cost alot and wouldn't of had the same success as the Wii

so those that like to throw "hardcore" around like ive been seeing, i laugh when i see "OMG SMG IS SOOO FREAKING HARDCORE" because, ive never seen mario curse, or princess peach nude, or luigi get decapitated. even though id like to, it would be hilarious.

I want to know how many of you have been playing nintendo games scince the NES? Im talking about being over 25 years old here and actually growing up in the NES and SNES era NOT THE N64 era?

I dont see how you could appreciate this gen from nintendo if you are a hardcore gamer that likes to play ALOT of games.

If he had made the cut off november instead of august on that list wii would have been destroyed. And all the other systems had one thing in common that the wii doesnt have, really awesome third party support. And we knew in detail about titles that were coming at that time, now, were left alone in the dark waiting for any scrap or hope of news for the next zelda or pikmin, or new ip ect.

the only reason the dreamcast failed was because of segas past mistakes at screwing over gamers with their previous systems.. and the promise of the ps2.

nintendo wouldnt not have gone the way of the dreamcast this gen. if they made a system that was capable of producing more hardcore games

So many whine at Nintendo for leaving the hardcore but at the same time we have a lot of people laughing at how "PC gaming is dying", despite the PC is the most hardcore platform there is. I assume it is mainly 360 and PS3 fans that whine at Nintendo for ditching the "hardcore" and then turn around to cackle at the PC.Hexagon_777

People that like new stuff are minority? I guess that's why the Wii is outselling it's competition...
