Hasn't it been all but confirmed that SS will have orchestral music?
AmayaPapaya
It was confirmed by Miyamoto during the Conference thing after E3, when they announced the OOT remake for the 3DS. However, Aonuma said later that the Zelda team didn't really discuss it, and he is not sure why Miyamoto said that. I'm pretty sure though they will have it. Miyamoto must have got a lot of positive feedback from people at E3 about SMG2's orchestrated music.
Yeah Miyamoto said when asked about the music in the Demo at E3 he said it will be changed because he said we can't do what we did for Mario (Adding Orchestrated Music) and not do the same to Zelda. While Link should NEVER be given a voice,at some point the NPCs are gonna need to speak. Even when dealing with Zelda I can't imagine a qualitygame in say.. 10 years that requires you to read what everyone is saying with no speech.

▲ It's 2010, soon to be 2011 and Zelda still doesn't have voice acting. HA HA OH WOW. Nintendo is so cheap despite having billions of money stashed away. Nintendo is so stuck in the past. They simply do not care about this series or the fans at all. In fact this is an insult to the fanbase, this is basically calling all the zelda fans stupid. Why? Because they think zelda fans will buy this despite it being a series stuck in the 90's. Here is what's funny, the fans will still buy this game. Holy cow I'm gonna die. Zelda is dead. wow. ▲

Lets just say you are right about everything. Why is no voice acting big enough to kill a series as big as Zelda?
huhh??? this is the company that makes billions of dollars in profit in one quarter...Why would they care about the costs of voice acting? There never has been voice acting in the history of zelda and to be honest i don't want some wierd voice for link to ruin his character.
[QUOTE="Bread_or_Decide"][QUOTE="Bigboi500"]I think that's why right there, Zelda games don't have much dialogue, so it wouldn't be cost effective to spend money on the best of the best voice actors for a game where story isn't the main feature. This is the weakest argument in the thread. "How would Zelda benefit from voice acting?" If it was a regular staple of the series no body would be asking this question. It would be an accepted part of the franchise. My question is what exactly would Zelda LOSE from having voice acting? Nothing at all. It would be welcomed and if done well would be a part of the over all experience. Voice acting brings the world to life it's really just that simple. It would add that little extra polish to an already good experience. Actually it's the best argument in the thread. It would be like bringing in U2 and paying them millions of $$$ to play one song then leave. True Zelda fans like it the way it is, while others wanna turn it into some mature only for the sake of being mature michael bay cheese festival. I have been playing Zelda games since the NES. That does not mean I want an M rated game full of gore and sex like in your strawman argument, but it does mean I'd like something a bit more complex, mature, and of higher production value than what Nintendo has done recently. If you are perfectly OK with the franchise giving us more of the same and routinely simplifying the formula, then I have to question who the true fan really is.
Actually their has been voice acting in the Zelda series. I'm not talking about the CDi games either. OoT had Voice Acting, same with Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and almost every Zelda released after Ocarina of Time.huhh??? this is the company that makes billions of dollars in profit in one quarter...Why would they care about the costs of voice acting? blaznwiipspman1
It might not be full voice acting but when I was a child playing OoT for the first time I actually thought they had full voice acting because they had grunts, laughing, Screaming, Goron speak, and Navi.
Midna speaks in Twilight Princess.
zelda's charm has always been its simplistic way of conveying its story, characters, and themes.
i don't see why it has to be any different now than in 1999. put your elitist standards aside, this is Zelda we are talking about.

This is so ridiculous and I don't buy it for one second. Eiji Aonuma is just making lame excuses for all the corner cutting they have to do thanks to the tiny budgets Nintendo gives the Zelda team to work with. Does he really expect us to believe he's never heard of Half Life or the many Western RPGs that feature silent protagonists as well as voice acting? I am so sick of Nintendo's bull crap excuses for why they are such cheap bastards when it comes to the Zelda series. I wonder what their excuse is going to be for why the game will have crappy synth music instead of a recorded orchestra? Mario always gets the lion's share when it comes to budgets, but it seems like Nintendo keeps pinching pennies harder and harder when it comes to the Zelda series, and what makes it worse is that they claim it's because of their "artistic integrity" instead of just admitting that they want to crank them out with as little overhead expense as possible.

I disagree, because Voice Acting doesn't magically change a game. I would rather have a Zelda that evolves the gameplay w/out voice acting than a TP/OOT clone with voice acting. But hey, that's what you want.

All your complaining about is VA and saying Zelda is dead because it has non. I just assumed you didn't care about the gameplay, you based the series death around VA.
Metroid Other M is taking a HUGE risk by going in that direction. It could potentially fall flat on it's face trying it too. 3 things I'm certain will happen with Skyward Sword
1. No voice acting (already confirmed)
2. No orchestral music (get ready for MIDI once again)
3. The game won't release until late 2011

With Nintendo's other series the fans actually trust Nintendo to make a great game. But with Zelda it is what people call the Zelda cycle.
Usually links voice is centered around nonsensical squeaking and baby noises. Probably dont need pro talent for that.

[QUOTE="DaViD_99"] Im not too sure if Zelda could pull off voice acting. It would be interesting to see Nintendo try and do it, but the writing and characters in Zelda games are always too crazy and whimsy. In that sense, it reminds of me Paper Mario. VGobbsesser
In what ways? Most of the characters in Zelda are pretty down-to-earth, and there are really only a handful of out-there characters (see: Tingle). Voice acting, to me, at least, would benefit the fantasy feeling of the franchise.
Its not so much the characters, but the writing. But I know I wouldn't really want to hear Gorons or Zoras speak english, probably a low, dumb voice for the former and british voice for the latter. I would much rather Nintendo add a gibberash fake language, with "subtitles". Many of the shopkeepers (little creepy child from Twilight Princess" and game people are also quite strange (OoT, the dancing couple in love), deku shrubs, skull kid, happy mask salesman and more.
I mean I can see Zelda and Ganondor having VA, since they never really had that much character, but it is really all the people you meet on your journey.
Zelda games have always had whimsy, but I do think if Nintendo just adds VA for every character, some of the whimsy would be gone.
That is why I think Zelda games do not really need voice acting, but just some fake languages, or more sound effects, like what they did with Midna.
There are much more other things Nintendo has to update and change around for Skyward Sword.

Oh yeah, also I was playing Twilight Princess the other day and noticed something interesting. Link does actually talk in a cutscene, but the player does not know what he is saying. The focus of the scene was one someone else, and in the background you can see Link having a conversation with someone, and his lips are moving. I found that kind of interesting.
