[QUOTE="darkspineslayer"][QUOTE="Giancar"]Truth to be told I haven't downloaded a demo in a long time. And I don't play those more than 3 times. But friends a family play it too. Nintendo should change this. Not deal breaking, but annoying.

Standard family of four all gives it a try twice: 8 Lowest I've ever seen the limit is twelve. 30 is closer to the norm, which is more than reasonable. And the limit is just how many times you boot the game up. Nothing stops you from repeat play in one sitting.

Adventure Time on the 3DS is five tries.

I only played it once I didn't really like the demo at all so I didn't purchase the game.

I think the existence of that game is a bigger issue than the number of plays its demo gets.

Who plays demos more than once or twice anyways?TheGuardian03
If you don't have games I can see it I played some demos for 20 times because I had to wait a month when I first got my PS3 I only had one game and when I finished that game I had to wait a month till Christmas when I could get more games for it so I played demos over and over again just so I had something to play on my PS3.

[QUOTE="Desmonic"]

It's a damn DEMO! If you keep playing it over and over then you OBVIOUSLY want the damn game. It's not rocket science you know? This is a non-issue as far as I'm concerned.

Capitan_Kid

If its a non issue then why the hell is there a limit in the first place? Why are people ok with things being taken away? This is just as bad as that always online nonsense but sheep are taking it up the ass like its nothing.

 this slight annoyance is no where near as draconian as the always online policy and comparing the two is straight up asanine

Yeah this is old, they started this on 3DS. It's stupid, yeah, but who cares. Even my most played demo has probably been about 6 times.

Lol, bad example because they don't lose out from restricting the demo because you don't plan on buying anyway.

Why does every store that sells video games always have a wiiu that lacks playable demos. It's pretty pathetic walking in and only getting videos at your fingertips. Dropped the ball on that.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but I'm sure there are a few sheep out there that came painfully close to those limits because of the amount of games available for the system, or a lack there of....

When I was a little nipper and couldn't afford my own games, I played demos many times. I guess Nintendo understands its audience.

Not really a big deal if you think about it. Then again, if Microsoft did something like this, we'd probably crap ourselves in rage.

If I play a demo three times or so, I'm in all likelyhood not going to buy the game.  If I play it twenty+, I most assuredly am.  Limitations are idiotic.  Christ, game companies just can't fathom the notion that people get enjoyment for....*gasp* FREE, even if it's a thirty minute section of a game.

I love this post. It's so ironic. The consumer is being cheap in the case of constantly replaying demos without buying the game.

If I wanted to play a demo more than 20 times, I obviously enjoy the game, so I wouldn't mind buying it. Btw, I've never ran out of demo play limits (on my 3DS or Wii U) because I either dislike the game and stop after 1 or 2 goes, or buy the game after 1 or 2 goes. That's what a demo is designed for. Complaining about such a thing is silly and unnecessary given that it actually doesn't matter.

Sega did something wierd like this once. They had a time limit on the demo for Sonic Generations or something.

Why not just let people enjoy the demos and if they like it, they can buy the full game, that is the point, why are some companies tight about it?

It's never an issue in practice, but it's so petty that you wonder if they did it just to needle us.

Maybe the Nintendo execs have a meeting once in a while to invent a new arbitrary, mildly irritating restriction that's not a big deal, but reminds the customers who's in control. It would explain friend codes.

This is probably the most legitimate gripe about the Wii U that I have seen. It's laughable that Nintendo would set a limit, but it's also kind of laughable that people even care.

I wasn't trying, but thanks to you, now i've read the thread and gave some light to a cig .. Okai, it's not the same thing. It's a vastly better deal than what i've experienced with some PC demos (30 min. time limit, 5 tries, etc.).

Actually, it doesn't really make any sense whatsoever. You've got a limit of 20 plays on that demo, more than enough than any living soul will ever need.

This is old news. Someone else was whining about demo play limits back in January and Nintendo explained that the limits are controlled by the publishers.

It depends on the demo. I remember Bejeweled 3 having a time limit on its demo, tho i forgot how long you're allowed to play. Zuma aswell.. It's been some time since i downloaded a demo of anything, but once i saw that shot in the thread starter's post, my mind immediately went to a lot of older demos i used to try from indies, that had either a time limit, or a play limit.

That's very interesting unless you figure out that many demos come out before the game does and act as a taster, and people wanting to play them are often waiting for a release date. When you factor that in your argument is worthless. Pity really.

You said it yourself - it's a taster. People can play the taster 20 times within 3 weeks before a game releases if they want. But most will get bored with playing the same segment of a game over and over. And regardless, the game is coming out soon after it still doesn't matter.

Your example is a very specific case, and futhermore, it still doesn't have significance in cases where it does apply. ie your argument is pretty worthless in reality.
