I can see it now. They get low sales (and high piracy) on the PC version compared to MW1, and then the developers declare that PC Gaming is dead and drop the platform all together.

bad bad bad. Why don't PC gamers boycott this like they did for L4D2? SilenthpsMaybe they will, I think this news just hit, there will be noise, at least the should be. And I'll start my personal boycott right now -
from now on I will not buy a single Activision / Infinity Ward game.. *checks that they have no good games coming* ...yep, like I was saying, no IW/Acti games for me until they remove this **** console online from the PC version!
most of you guys have 360 or PS3 but I only have me beloved PC , I just bought a new Graphics card to keep up with my love MW2 F*** you IW and Avtvision , We don't want to have console XP if we want that we can simply buy console Dark_prince123And you will get the same game as a console user, except you know people will find ways to mod it anyway. This is just over-reacting.
Could be Activision's plan.I can see it now. They get low sales (and high piracy) on the PC version compared to MW1, and then the developers declare that PC Gaming is dead and drop the platform all together.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.
I think it was, to be serious, just that Acti did not want to spend lots of time on the PC version and is just going to give PC the 360 version more or less. It is less work for them, and one more platform they can get sales off of.Activision is really trying to **** over PC gamers, huh?

That's what I was thinking. Finding ways to combat piracy is extremely difficult, and maybe they don't even want to bother with it.
ii think most of the people who were with the COD series from the begining have moved on given the depths the series has sunk toThebettertwinThe cod series died after 2 with me. This further proves why i think that. No dedicated servers? No mods? The mods for COD were amazing, they were one of the reason the 1 and 2 were so great.

But, the 360 MW2 can be ported to PC with very little work since both the 360 and PC are setup very similar in architecture.Activision is really trying to **** over PC gamers, huh?

[QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"]Apparently they will.[QUOTE="GulliversTravel"]You can quote me that theyll be charging us for PC maps too:|
GulliversTravel
Someone posted this one the MW2 board:
• IW has control of the game
• IWnet servers will host multiplayer
• DLC will be a charged item for PC
• No dedicated servers
• Matchmaking system used to play with similarly ranked players
• VAC instead of PB
• Semi-capable password servers
• Semi-capable ad-hoc servers
• Competitive play is dead
• MW2 mods would not be possible
• Full integration into Steam
Just keeps getting worse and worse.:(If true then:

Agreed, this is ridiculous. I hate how console gaming is affecting the PC more and more. At least there's still Blizzard.
This is done because of piracy.Jamex1987
Not that I care because I don't play these sort of games, but how does not having a dedicated server combat piracy?
This is a stupid move on their part. This game is missing essential pc game components. i don't want some matchmaking crap.
Isn't it the same engine though, just some new models and maps thrown in. And I think they would had gone with GFWL if they just wanted to copy the 360 version. I think this is just to stop pirates from using private servers and most of all to create the infrastructure for selling DLC.ManicAceThey also added new game modes and the entire game is redone. C+P would only work for a little bit of it.

Requiring steam for online play. Wait so steam will allow dedicated servers?[QUOTE="AnnoyedDragon"][QUOTE="Jamex1987"]This is done because of piracy.Jamex1987

Pirated copies of cod4 can easily be played online. That would depend on what they mean by dedicated server, as Vandalvideo said.
[QUOTE="Syferonik"]Activision is smart they know PC version won't be selling any close to wut consoles will so why not giving them garbage? lol hermitsManicAceIt's the same system the console versions use ..using that logic they're all garbage...Yup they are all garbage but pc's is moooar garbage than consoles garbage :)
That is BS. The main reason I like CoD4 was because of the freeze tag mod. IW is taking away mods now? Well screw you IW, you dam motherf**kers.
It's the same system the console versions use ..using that logic they're all garbage...Yup they are all garbage but pc's is moooar garbage than consoles garbage :) How so? Even if the two versions are matched completely feature-for-feature, then the PC still has sharper visuals and arguably better controls.[QUOTE="ManicAce"][QUOTE="Syferonik"]Activision is smart they know PC version won't be selling any close to wut consoles will so why not giving them garbage? lol hermitsSyferonik
THANK GOD, finally a decent PC game with no dead or crappy/furry/private infested servers to filter through. Cyber space is getting expensive, time to evolve PC Dev's.
[QUOTE="deleterguy"]402 said it in a podcast on http://www.bashandslash.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=91&Itemid=76darklord888And no mods. Basically, the PC version is dead. PC gamers are getting a 100% console port. Wth, why? Do they not want PC versions to sell?

I doubt it. COD 4 is the best seller and most played fps of our times, and the price of the game was really high in the first 18 months after their launchship -in my country is still at 49.95 € in retail shops-. Ironically, games with tons of free contents made by modders and even free weekend trials in the multiplayer as Ureal Tournament III and Crysis Wars are under the 20 $ barrier.
Are PC gamers really surprised? Developers have been treating you like second class citizens for years now. Wake up and realize where the industry is headed. Consoles is where the cash is, so that's where they go. PC gaming isn't dead, but it's becoming a shell of its former self.

Never mind Activision is annoying everyone these days, the problem must be PC
Last I checked console developers are interested in expanding into PC gaming, odd behaviour considering they are already established on the only platform that apparently matters.

Acceptance is the first step.
