Because they can't handle all the crying but I can I babysit all the time I'm used to it;)
when it comes to the high end, big budget block buster games....i think hes right. from a business perspective it just doesent make sense to make a high end game exclusive to the PC (or any other platform for that matter). the userbase at that level is too small to really justify the costs and risks associated with making a big title just for the PC.
devs and publishers who were traditionally PC only are going to start taking consoles seriously (and vice versa...capcom for example is actually interested in the PC and kojima has also remarked that hed like to make a PC game. these used to be console only companies). epic are on consoles (hell it could be argued that epic have jumped the PC ship..theres almost no goood will between epic and PC gamers), bethesda are on consoles, as are ID. creative assembly are making console games (in an interview with PC gamer UK, they even mentioned bringing the next total war game to the consoles), valve are making console games, i could go on.
this is the price we pay for our demands for the latest tech and best of everything. a company would have to be a bit crazy to make a console exclusive for the high end markets. the risks and costs are to high for exclusivity (bar a few exception. well espablished series like halo or MGS are going to sell no matter what platform there on).
of course it has an upside..if multiplat becomes more prevelent then the need to get all platform greatly diminishes (im already feeling that this gen...i have more wii games than PS3 and 360 games combined because alot of the big games that i want also come out for PC).
however, where the PC will get its exclusives will be with developers who are learning the ropes, small devs who want to control distribution themselves and low budget games that just wouldnt work on a console (like sins). most of the time u dont hear of these games because the press doesent know about them and doesent have the time to find them.

I agree with your post the only question I have here is wont that be like the games on Xbox live arcade. More of the smaller type games/devs?
No I owned! The fact is exclusives will be less and less! Get over it! I think I will take the word of someone in the industry over PC fans;)jasonheyman
I will take reality and facts over your rambling. And fact there will be more and more PC exclusives.
On the other hand console exclusives (outside of 1st party ones) are dead
"Nvidia's VP of content business development, Roy Taylor, has said he believes the value of consoles means "no-one is going to make PC-exclusive games in the future".
"I think we have to face the facts - the value of consoles is such that no-one is going to make a PC-exclusive game in the future. Why would they? Why would they ignore consoles?" said Taylor."
"Most PC gamers also own consoles - not all of them, but a lot of them. What we're seeing happen is that, yes, people are developing for Xbox 360, for PS3 - but they're also developing for PC," he added."
LINK
I don't know how many times I've heard "PC has the most and best exclusives!" Well here is a man in the industry that can admit that the gaming industry is changing and that consoles are the base line and that most PC owners own a console along side their PC...
That being said he does say that the PC version of the games are "better" to him and PC gamers and fans. But he still admits that consoles are coming up to the point where PC will no longer have exclusives it will be a side by side industry;)
jasonheyman
It could also be the other way around?
I love how everyone ignores the two other peeps who came in here and asked a question and posted a statement to back up the article lol this is great:Djasonheyman
Why did you ignore the very very straight forward questions I asked?? lol
I even numbered them for you to save confusion.

oh god no. low budget doesent necessarily mean small or focused or a one trick wonder. sins was developed for less than a million quid i believe, and the game is very big. games like civ are also not that expensive to make but are known to eat lives. smaller devs will become more prevelant on the PC with regard to exclusives (just like many of the big boys now like epic, bioware and ID were once small shareware companies on the PC)but the games are certainly not going to get any smaller.
because the devs dont have any limits or standards they have to meet, they can just go crazy with ambition and be limited only by the hardware itself. i was playing a space game called evechron renegades a few weeks ago and it was crazy. its an old school space sim like elite and u can land on planets, space stations and explore a massive galaxy. it was made by just one guy. it lacks polish (the best PC games usually do :P) but its ambition puts most games out there to shame.
remember that on the PC, there is nothing stopping ppl from making a game, either on their own or in a team. the only things u really need are time and money to live on. all the tools u need are either free or at a very low cost. theres also a massive amount of info on dinternet on how to do it.
[QUOTE="Wasdie"]I want to see a game like Empire Total War work on a console...mo0ksiIt would be difficult. But possible. It's more of an issue of trying to get the battles to work. The campaign map could be done on consoles very well I think.lol, empire total war would barely run on low/med settings on consoles.

Well MS is coming out with something for small devs to get their hands on. I don't know the depth of it or how well it will do it will be interesting to see though...
Here is the LINK to what I'm talking about
"Xbox Community games" I think is the name of it?...
Yep, you're actually the new if not wok7.

Another advantage of the console gaming-world is that every console has exactly the same hardware-configuration. This means, as a game developer, you know the exact configuration of every Playstation 3. So if you develop a game for it, you are able to test it to the fullest and (normally) deliver a game that is free of bugs. When creating PC games, you need to make the game compatible with all sorts of CPU's, video cards, sound cards,...etc
We can conclude from all this that a console evolves with hops and PC's evolve in a more linear way. When a new console comes out, it is better than most PC's on the market at that time, but it doesn't take long for the PC to catch up. Positive about this is that the technologies become more compatible. So in the (hopefully near) future it will be possible for a person with a console to play against people with PC's and have a bigger gaming-community than ever before.
And advantage of PCgaming is that you can take all the time you want while making a game, on consoles anything longer than 3 years dev cycle is suicideAnother advantage of the console gaming-world is that every console has exactly the same hardware-configuration. well it makes sense if you creating a game like call of duty or fear to make it multiplatform.
that said the new deus ex might not come out on the consoles.
operation flash point 2, might be coming out on the consoles, but the pc is vastly superior. eg. more player on multiplayer. and the game is built to scale future pcs.
and the biggie no console version (at least for a while) of the new star wars old republic game.
still no crysis, spore, stalker, demigod etc etc for consoles.
Also all console games seem to be coming out on the pc, saints row 2, burnout, street fighter etc etc
I'm sure Unreal Tournament 3 was so much better and profitbale because of consoles. Yeah right.
PC exclusive games CAN make more profit than inferior multiplats. PC exclusives means zero dumbing down, and the core fanbase knows that the game was designed directly for them. I wouldn't buy Diablo 3 if it was a PSP multiplat for example, since the game would stink bad due to dumbing down.

PC games will be coming to consoles! Just read all the dev articles complaining of piracy! The games may not be on consoles yet but it will happen sooner or later! They want the money made up for what their losing in piracy8)

do u realize that console games are coming to pc's at a much faster rate recently?Kidcool I dnot get your sig. Were 4-3 and I only see us getting better as the year goes on especially since we'll be getting a lot our players back after the bye. Plus we play the lions again. Lol. I do agree though. Do YOU pay attention to my posts:shock: I don't deny that most console games go to PC. But the console versions come out first. And my whole point of this thread is that the gaming industry will be a side by side PC/Console. If PC fans dont want to admit it or not!

I think he should come and talk to us next year when PC gamers yet again will have the most AAE/AAAE games. This trend of people thinking that PC gaming is dying is getting rediculous. This year we have the most AAE/AAAE and yes when GTA4 comes out it will have 1 AAAA. I dont see this trend changing.
ME WANTEmpire Total War
Dawn of War 2
Starcraft 2
Battlefield 3 (best)
Diablo 3
I would say those are upcoming PC exclusives. Wouldn't you?

I guess thats what he saying because if PC/console it becoming more uniformal then everything will be multiplat and then no exclusives will ever exist. Thats his logic.
lol ya we are doing excellent right now, im really happy how orton is looking better and more comfortable each game, and that image was made pretty much right after that game, but i didnt even make, i stole form some guy on a sports forum, i oughtta edit it and get rid off the "lovie:losing games since week2" since thats not really true anymore, but either way, i thought the caption wiht the image was simple yet hilariousKidcool I dnot get your sig. You have failed miserably. You were asked very simple questions by AdrianWerner and you avoided them. He then called you out on avoiding them and you STILL didn't respond. Absolutely pathetic. You will take one person's opinions as absolute FACT and yet when someone uses actual facts to dispute this person's opinion, you completely avoid them. That is the very definition of failure and being owned.

Oh you got me there lmao:roll:
you also are missing a massive massive point. not all games work on a console.
mmos, rts, simulators. to bring them to the console market would dumb them down and while a few will make it, the majority will remain on the PC.
Lets get a few facts straight, up until now there is no console version of a mmo, rts or real simulator thats done really well on a console. we'll see how ubisofts end war fairs. my guess not that well.
also another big point, entry into the world of consoles is difficult. you need dev kits and certification. if you are a brand new company with little money, PC is your only choice.
now i will be proved wrong if some one mentions a mmo, rts or simulator (flight simulator, iracing, lock on etc) that has better critical acclaim and made more money on the consoles.

Blizzard is talking about Diablo 3 coming to console and they said they wouldn't just port it because they don't want to affect the quality! So they think it can be done keeping the quality I don't understand your logic of it being impossible on console because of quality or "dumb them down"?!
I could not care less how many exclusives the PC has. All I care about is what resolution I'm going to be playing at, what mods I'm going to download, and how many days I'm going to stay up playing whatever game I'm playing. While Fallout 3, Dragon Age, and Left4Dead are also for console, I prefer to play them on the PC. Lastly, I don't think an RTS or TBS is all that great on a console. I mean I thought Battle For Middle Earth 2 handled great on the 360 controller, but overall, I prefer the mouse.
Also, all of my favorite games are on the PC. I don't see Fallout 1, Baldur's Gate, or Diablo 2 on a console.
