Overall, this gen's console games have experienced an overly stable pricetag. This is how I view it:
-360 games are the second most overpriced, if we consider they're on multilayer DVDs.
-PS3 games have a reasonable pricetag for me, especially if in Blu-Ray. Paying US $60 for a complete, new game for PS3 is reasonable enough for me.
-Wii games could be considered slightly overpriced compared to those of the 360. They come on the Wii Optical Disc (modified DVD), which limits the content between 4.7 & 8.5 GB. The overpricing is most evident considering the overload of shovelware and minigame collections.
Let's thank that downloadable games are cheap enough, allowing for good acessible fun (unless you lack of broadband internet).

Both dual layer DVD's and Blu-Rays are rougly the same price. I thought it was common knowledge that you pay for the resources that go into development, not the actual disc and packaging.[QUOTE="EVOLV3"]In Canada a new game costs like $70 :(Guybrush_3
that's like $56 USD. you pay less than we do
yeah but its not like you can buy a game in canada for 56 american. a job like mcdonalds you make like 8.50 an hour in Canada in America you probably make roughly there same, therefor it would take more time to buy the game in canada,As long as devs get their money and can continue to stay in business... I'm fine with paying $60 until they can lower the price to $30. If I cant afford it, I'll wait.carljohnson3456Or you can trade in an older game. It might just be me, but I'm pretty sure used game sales and trade-in's are far more popular this generation than ever before.

[QUOTE="FirstDiscovery"]Only tools buy games brand new first day from shops:?Cake-SoupThen I have been a tool since SNES lol *goes back into box* Me too I don't mind the price! The only people that probably do are kids and teens who don't have jobs. If you work you realize that people that make games need the profit for their work. It's an artform and they deserve our money. Making it cheaper would mean either crappier big games or more psn/xbla/wii games. I don't want a cut down killzone 3 or Resistanc 3 or gears 3 come on people $60 is not much to ask , if you don't like it, wait and buy the game used a few months down the line. Simple really!

When I was in highschool my average paycheck was $100 a week. Between paying for my own car insurance, buying myself clothes, putting gas in my car, and other necessities, I really didn't have much left for gaming. Gas prices are even higher now, so I'd definately not be a big gamer if I was still in highschool.

It would take longer to earn $60 @ 6.50 than it would to earn $70 @ 8.50. Hell, my first part-time job only paid $5 / hr, and that was only 6 years ago.

70 CAD = 57 USD. :/
Minimum wage is $7.50 USD
At my local walmart here in Canada the price is 59.99$ for a new game... maybe evolve is talking 60$ + taxes...I don't think there was any justification in raising the price $10 this gen. If games are costing THAT much to make this gen then obviously there is something wrong with the current business modelVideoGameGuy
Games are costing that much because thats how much current gen demands.
Current business model? Don't you mean current graphical expectations?
