[QUOTE="Thebettertwin"]What's American? I see you are speaking English from good old England. Perhaps you are referring to what is stupidly referred to as "American English" which is just a dumbed down form of the true English for simple-tons. Case and point learn to spell doughnut.Irick_cb

And english is just a dumbed down form of German.

Genitive case say: "OH MY LEGS!"

Nope because it has many different elements, such as the norman elements, roman ones, greek ones and celtic ones too. Unlike "American" which did not adopt aboriginal forms of language it is just essentially english with a few word variations; which in the most part try to make it more simplified. To stay on topic shop around for the best deals and yes we always get ripped off with exchange rates get used to it lol.

The initial post was a quote from a parody, so... lol for taking me seriously :P

Secondly yeah, you guys get screwed in general in the ways of consumer electronics, especially gaming.

From what I know, the EU is the largest PC gaming market on the planet. I couldn't figure out why that is, though.

Linux is also a lot more popular in the EU. The same goes for Firefox. I don't see how that's relevant, though. :P

That's nothing. Both PS3 and 360's hardware and software costs exactly TWICE where I live and there's no official support from both Microsoft and Sony. Infact I have to lie on my whereabouts when I signed in on PSN as it wouldnt even let me use the PSN store as an Israeli.

Because they are paying almost 70EUR and they are getting half of the features, they can't rent movies,or download most of the videos...etc..most of the good feature xbox live offers are only for United States/Canada.. don't get me wrong i love xbox live and i'm not even European, but i have many European friends complaining for these issues and i understand them..they pay way more than us and get half features.

Raining__Blood
For the reacord, Canada's missing lots of stuff also, but you don't have to pay, its allavailable with the Silver membership, which is free.

i agree. lemmings somehow think the online is better just because you pay for it, it's the exact same peer to peer networking. Infact, some playstation online games are better.

Some, but that's it, and they more than likely the Sony games where they're eating themselves into the red with those dedicated servers that have no revenue stream to support them.

I can say the same things about non japanese sony consumers because a lot of PSP games (and a handfull of ps3 games) sometime never sees a non japanese release.

Oh and sure you guys can easily import games, but then might aswell say that non american xbox live users can use another service aside from netflix etc etc.

[QUOTE="Maikedi"]

In Europe, we pay more for games....like 70 euros..... but if we import, it could cost around 40 euros because if im not mistaken, 1 euro is almost 1.5 dollars so with that option, we have some advantage

nunovlopes

I suggest that Europeans buy their games from the UK. The UK is also a PAL territory, part of the EU and part of Europe. A friend of mine recently saved €36.71 by buying three DS games in the UK instead of Germany. Amazon.co.uk, ShopTo.net and Play.com deliver throughout Europe. Be a smart gamer and buy your games in the UK.

dvd.co.uk is also pretty good. What I find amazing about this site is that shipping costs amount to just 1£! I live in Portugal, I have no idea how they manage to ship things to Portugal for just 1£.

:o Hot diggity dang! Thanks for the links. Sounds almost too good to be true.

A typical practice i am not surprised at all by this. My friends who are Xbox owners are excited about these features coming to the UK/Europe so i am assuming that eventually Europe 360 owners will get these features? If not well....

To be fair, every PS3 owner outside of the US doesn't have access to Sony's video store, either. Plus the US store pretty much always gets better content than every other store. Europe always gets the short end of the stick.

And TC, your username has just made me put on some Slayer \m/

they don't have ebay and the like in the eu? what you pay for stuff is your own problem when you can find it cheap if you look hard enough... do you say the car manufacturers ripped people off if you go in and pay sticker for a car?

you are right about the missing features though...that stuff needs to be uniform

What, you cant start one via that? I thought it was streamed online? I knew you would need to pay full price.

You can just use it as a sky box. Everything else is the same. You still need a dish and a subscription.

Well there is, because the UK is rather different and separate from the main continant in both culture, language, currency and in system wars terms, xbox live content.

That's a pretty weak justification in my opinion since every country in Europe tends to have a different language and culture. Not all of them use the euro either. Europe is a diverse entity of which the UK is part of and saying that the UK is not part of Europe because of culture and language means that no country in Europe should actually be part of Europe.

True...

Maybe that is why the PS3 is more popular in europe?

Irick_cb
PS3 and 360 are petty neck and neck in Europe. 360 dominates in the UK which I think accounts for about a third of the Europes total game sales, but I think the PS3 does better in the rest. Not too sure though.

Also, the UK is the least european country in europe, hence why a lot of people consider it separate. Nobody is saying it isn't IN europe, they're just acknowledging the degree of separation, so there's no need to tell people 'it's in europe!' because i'm sure many people are well aware of that.

Was there a study done on this or is this stuff being said out of the blue? I live in the UK and have noticed none of this. What does this mean for Iceland, Ireland, Cyprus and numerous smaller islands?

1. it is no way a waste of money. where else can you see most premier league and champions league matches and all in hd? among all the other thousands of exclusive stuff they have. 2.if its such a waste of money why do you have it?

What is a European country? How is the UK the least European? Where is this coming from? The only people who consider the UK to be separate seem to be we Brits. Is this due to pride? The way I perceive it, many Brits distinguish between the UK and Europe for no plausible reason.

[QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"] I didn't say it wasn't a part of europe. >_> For the purposes of this discussion however, it's quite different in that the UK has most of the content that America/Canada has as opposed to the rest of europe which does not. Also, the UK is the least european country in europe, hence why a lot of people consider it separate. Nobody is saying it isn't IN europe, they're just acknowledging the degree of separation, so there's no need to tell people 'it's in europe!' because i'm sure many people are well aware of that.NinjaMunkey01

What is a European country? How is the UK the least European? Where is this coming from? The only people who consider the UK to be separate seem to be we Brits. Is this due to pride? The way I perceive it, many Brits distinguish between the UK and Europe for no plausible reason.

I live in the UK and Id much rather be percieved as English than European. Nothing against Europe, were just not that European =P

You are European by all means. You are specifically English, though, just like a German is specifically German but European as a whole. Canadians are North American, the Japanese are Asian, Kenyans are African, get my drift?

Besides, Scandinavia is a whole lot more different from the rest of mainland Europe than the U.K are, everyone who has been there can tell you that.

I know politically we are European. But many British people would much rather not be percieved as completely European. =P

Many americans don't want to be called americans, many germans don't want to be called europeans, yadayada. Then lets just forget those names for now.
