I couldnt care less for SKY. I have a SKY subscribtion so whats the point of having it on my xbox. SKY is one of the biggest waste's of money in this country!

R_MAHIL

1. it is no way a waste of money. where else can you see most premier league and champions league matches and all in hd? among all the other thousands of exclusive stuff they have. 2.if its such a waste of money why do you have it?

You have to pay extra for sports and I dont follow football much. I can rent the movies from Lovefilm. I basicly pay £15 a month to watch 5 channels. Biggest waste of money and its going at the end of this month.

[QUOTE="NinjaMunkey01"] I live in the UK and Id much rather be percieved as English than European. Nothing against Europe, were just not that European =PNinjaMunkey01

You are European by all means. You are specifically English, though, just like a German is specifically German but European as a whole. Canadians are North American, the Japanese are Asian, Kenyans are African, get my drift?

I know politically we are European. But many British people would much rather not be percieved as completely European. =P

Not just politically, but economically, geographically, etc. I also don't understand why Brits don't want to be perceived as European. It's denial on a national scale. I have tried to understand why people in the UK do not want to be perceived as European and came up with a ridiculous theory which I shall not disclose now.

To go totally geek, though, imagine an inter galactic meeting. Representatives of races from all over the universe are attending and one of them is human. They all introduce themselves and say where they are from. The human, instead of saying that he's from Earth which would be the logical thing to do, says "I am English" and confuses every other member at the meeting. That's silly, no?

I had trouble understanding the last part but what makes the UK so ultra special that it qualifies for being "separate" from Europe? Nobody has told me anything so far. Things have simply been pulled out of the blue. All I can think of is that small body of water.

Every country has its patriots and it's good to be proud of where you're from. It just comes across as a bit excessive and even offensive with us Brits.

The years of constant fighting and wars may have something to do with. Also the UK gets screwed over by Brussels all the time.

Lots of European countries feel that way, for different reasons. Regarding being perceived as English, that used to be a good thing, I'm not so sure now. For a lot of people "being perceived as English" basically means "drunk and trouble-maker"...

They're prouder than most. Think about it. They've so far refused to abandon the Pound, and there's strong resistance to metricate (the US is farther along in some aspects of metrication than the UK).

exactly. i hate when all the ps fanboys or people who just love complaining keep saying "xbox live is £5 a month which is too much". yes £60 a year is too much but why get it direct from ms? in 2007 i found someone on ebay selling the codes for a 12+1 card for £24. i brought 4 of those so im set till 2011 at the earliest.

The BBC licence fee is a waste of money more like, paying for the rightto own a tv wtf. If we didn't have to pay the licence fee more people could afford SKY in the first place.

No, you dont have to have a TV license, you just have to prove that you arent using it for watching television programs. You assumption that more people could pay for SKY is plain stupid. not everyone wants to pay for TV, I sure as hell dont. I only watch about 5 channels. Most of which I can get on freeview.

As an American let me be the first to say "I don't care" I am not sure what you want Joe Public Consumer in America to do for you? I think this would be better served as a letter to Microsoft.

Yes, thats because our government bends over for Brussels.

After doing a bit of research myself, I found out how poignantly wrong that statement is (in that it shows how blinkered and uninformed most anti-EU people are).

See here.

The closer I looked at the figures, the more surprised I was. The survey examines hours worked across 31 countries in Europe, including every member of the EU. Whichever graph I looked at - number of days worked, number of hours, average weekly hours - we were statistically dull. Just to rub things in it was even mentioned in the report. ("Surprisingly, considering the importance of this debate in the British context, the UK's working hours are about average.")

I thought I'd better check the facts before allowing myself to believe that a senior minister in the European Union might just have a better idea of what he was talking about than "Britain's most averagely successful stand-up comedian".

But every survey said the same thing - the British do not work the longest hours in Europe, even before you include those hard-grafting ex-communists and Turkish farmers who boost the "hours-worked" statistics across the continent. The Guardian

Even if Europeans had to pay 50 euros that would be ridiculously overpriced in comparison to the American prices. The exchange rates are much in favor of the Euro, thus, if we have an equal quantity we have a greater value that Europeans have to pay... That some European countries have prices over 50 euros annually is ridiculous and Microsoft should work to change that in my opinion.

Because they are paying almost 70EUR and they are getting half of the features, they can't rent movies,or download most of the videos...etc..most of the good feature xbox live offers are only for United States/Canada.. don't get me wrong i love xbox live and i'm not even European, but i have many European friends complaining for these issues and i understand them..they pay way more than us and get half features.

I believe that we in the UK are simply an ignorant, xenophobic bunch that is too proud for its own good. For example, when it comes to us accepting the euro, the reasons I hear against the notion are usually based on pride while the reasons for consist of the economic benefits. I hope that we somehow overcome this belief that are special since it's offensive and arrogant in my opinion. Instead, we should build strong relationships with other countries.

Then again, why would the rest of Europe want to have anything to do with us? Our teenagers are among the most badly behaved in Europe, our teens are among Europe's worst drinkers, teenage pregnancies are the highest in western Europe, we have the most new HIV cases in Europe, and our obesity levels are the highest in Europe. I suppose we are special but not in the good sense.

Maybe that is why we want to be separate from the rest of Europe, however. We cannot be the worst in Europe in any category if we are separate from Europe, right?

Just like to add seeing as this whole mess was started by me, im from the UK i seperated Europe and the UK due to the fact that, just becuase somthing becomes available in Germany or France dose not mean its available in the UK. This tends to be a common trend across the globe i just happened to seperate the 2.

As far as i know we get games on a differnet date compared to the rest of Europe correct me if im wrong? I know certainly that some things take longer to come to our shores than other countries and this couldnt be more true for Germany with there strict anti violance laws.

I gotta agree with most of that, but we are FAR FROM the most xenophobic actually we are far from Xenophobic in almost anyway. Generally our population is the most accepting of other nations.

Personally i think our culture is screwed.... You get more respect for being nasty than kind here, and more respect for how early you lost your V plates how many people you have stabbed and generally the wrong things. People tend to drink and take drugs way to often here as well, im not sure about other countrys but boy EVERYONE of a certain age gets wasted to the point of no return weekly here including and if not slightly worse the woman.
