What are the things in your favorite games that totally destroy the fun/immersion factor?
IMO,the voice acting in ARMA 2 destoys the SP immersion.
For those who have no idea, take a look (contains profane language)

Games you think are open and your free to explore but they end up being completely linear and small.
Both Super Mario Galaxy games (I have a hard time calling Super Mario Galaxy 2 a 3d platformer)
Kingdom hearts 2(this one isnt really that bad though, its still one of my favorite games of all time for some reason)
Ubisoft's DRM.Crimsader
you mean StarForce? yeah, it's a horror. instead, they could just have the game disc in two pieces. try to crack that, YEAH!

Well, to me it's just a part of the package, seeing as its a milsim with many unscripted events and all. Although I've heard there are mods that fix this.
As for me:
- Progress is pretty much dictated by time spent playing. (Lots of RPGs)
- Stealth sections in games with disfunctional stealth gameplay. (Metro 2033)
- Growing emphasis on multiplayer, transforming many potentially enjoyable FPSs into uninspired shooting galleries. (CoD, maybe Crysis 2)
- Bloody screen indicates damage.
- The ridiculous portrayal of Russians and foreigners in general in just about any war-themed game.

they all use Frostbite engineAlso: fighting mechanical things. It's boring as hell. Valve are excellent at this. They ruined the last 25% of HL2 with bore-inducing fights against turrets and striders. It drove me damn nuts and made me appreciate the game a whole lot less. Then they did it again in Portal.

they all use Frostbite enginevery different version of it. except for 1943 and BC2.
you can't really call Unreal Engine 2 and 3 the same engine either.
Unskipable cutscenes.
XenonRadon
Oh hell yes that needs to die. Seeing a good 7 min scene is great the first couple of times. Don't need it after successive play throughs.
Being completely linear or small doesn't stop something from being a 3D platformer.Games you think are open and your free to explore but they end up being completely linear and small.

sluggish controls (KZ2)
i wantaed to like the game so bad but the controls killed the entire experience.

i agree with you about COD but what changes you are talking about BC,BC2 and 1943???Agreed. Mass Effect 2... oh my... :(arbitrary rubbish end bosses in games that don't need them... like uncharted 2

honestly, haven't played 1943 or the first BC, since they are not on PC. this is just my opinion as a PC gamer.
atleast BC didn't have Destruction 2.0, but other than that, i don't know how different it is from Frostbite 1.5. i'm not really counting Heroes, 1943 and Play4Free to the actual Battlefield series.

eh, considering BF3 is heavily rumored for 2011 his arguement will probably hold strong. BF3 in 2011 and BC3 in 2012 all we're realy missing are 3 installments in 03, 07, and 09. It's not as bad as CoD because BF is diffrent than BFBC in a lot of ways.but it getting to be an annual thing.
EDIT: well there was battlefiled 1943 in 09. so technically if you're talking the brand name yes the game is an annual thing. especially if BF3 comes out this year and BC3 comes out the next. that'd be 5 years of annual BF games.

Consolisation, when great PC games are consolised. ( AVP3, Invisible War, OFPDR, Rainbow 6, Ghost Recon ect ect... )
But most of all, cheesy voice acting. Its destroyed the enjoyment of games for me, most recently Arcania Gothic 4, i couldn't bring myself to play that game any longer due to the horrendous voice actors.
