First of all, let me just say that the Gamespot review was downright hilarious but for all the wrong reasons.

"It's a decent alternative for those bored with the repetitiveness of going to a gym." Yes, going to a fully functional gym with tons of equipment, facilities and trainers 3 times a week is ALOT more repetitive than limited exercise you can do on a board.I mean they even said so in the review "..although with only 30 moves in total, it'll get old rather quickly." Hit me with the intelligence Gamespot. I WANT MOAR!

Now I've heard some people make a case that American's are over weight and any solution is a good one? Well, how about one that doesn't work properly? "In jogging, you're supposed to either tuck the Wii Remote into a pocket or hold it in your hand while running on the spot, but you can achieve the same effect by simply waggling the Wii Remote."So the exercise part of it is essentially broken and doesn't work properly, not to mention limited variety and bad menu's.

For the "gaming" side of things, there's scant MP options and short shallow mini games. So it doesn't deliver for exercise or as a fun game. To think some people said it would be revolutionary and an actual exercise solution. This video was more accorate than I thought. Wii Fit Parody

I do respect Nintendo's gangsta for releasing turd and marketing it so well that it'll sell regardless. $90 for half assery...priceless.

For the new Nike shoes that have an odometer on them, i can just sit on my butt and beat them on the ground to make it register that I am jogging. There is a way around everything, you just ruin the whole point by doing so.

Heh, don't let your fanboyism get the best of you, I have a feeling there's more to the balance board than you think! I still have yet to get mine, but I appreciate the thought behind nintendo's technology. How much is it by the way? I'll scrape some moolah together and get it this weekend!

BALANCE BOARD! I admit WiiFit is a gimmick to get people to buy it as they want to get fit, but it's a fun gimmick. You could argue a lot of games are gimmicks, just the same as other games in the genre only with certain things changed. But the main cool thing of Wii Fit is the balance board and how that can be incorporated into games. And some of your points are stupid, the controls aren't broken, the Wii remote essentially becomes a pedometer when you use it for running. Ever use one of those? They suck, you can do that, just sit there waggling it and the steps go up, if you tap your foot whilst you are sitting still sometimes they go up. Bad menus? Oh no the game is ruined...

Hmf, I'm most certainly not a fanboy. I'm a PCWII360 gamer and a FAN of nintendo, not a FANBOY. There's a great difference. I like the concept behind the balanceboard and feel that (if used properly) it could be a big step in the right direction for the gaming industry!

According to gamespot they aren't amazing. So, you spent $90 on a game that could be fun for say a week or so just so you can wait a couple months for other implementations. Damn, the milkage... I really respect Nintendo's gangsta.

The fact is that anyone who buys the game knows what they are getting, the casuals who buy it are expecting something they can play for 20 or 30 minutes a day and have some fun, which is what the get, the "hardcore" that bought it know what they are getting, a balance board and a game like Wii Sports and Wii Play, "games" that are merely there to showcase what the equipment can do. And we aren't really waiting for implementations, already 2 games are announced that will make use of the balance board, what about things like Guitar Hero, Rockband, Singstar, Buzz. They are more milkage you are essentially paying for a pheriphal you can only use in one situation, at least the Balance Board can be manipulated and used in whatever game it suits, skating, skiing, driving, whatever.

Calling the jogging part broken because you can waggle instead of actually jog is like calling DDR broken because you can get four people to pound on one arrow each and ace every song.

You fail at insulting Wii Fit, therefore Wii Fit > you.

Milkage is something completley different.

Oh and a guitar peripheral > exercise mat. First off its usable for every sequel to the game. They don't FORCE you to rebuy the guitar and second I'd rather pretend to be a rock star than do Yoga.

Way to read what I said. I never said an exercise board was better, I love Guitar Hero, I don't really think it's milkage but neither is the Balance Board, technically milkage is overpricing periphals that are important to the console, that's what I see it as anyway. Like the xbox wireless adaptor, Wii remote prices, PS3 having DS's released after people have already bought 5 6-axis's. That kind of thing. And again you didn't read what I said with my last thing, I know you can use GH controller for sequel, but can you use it for anything except Guitar rhythm games? No. The balance board can be manipulated to be used in different styles of games, and in loads of different ways, from full control of the game, to just an additional option.

Another thread of anti-Nintendo fanboys spouting BS about something they don't understand. Everyone who took time out of their day to post a negative comment about Wii Fit needs to get a life. It just looks kinda pathetic now, how offended you get around Wii Fit. Go play your awesome hardcore games I'm sure you're just swimming in right now and leave this innovation alone.

WiiFit is a failure in its intended purpose. It's fun for a few minigames essentially, but it gets boring fast and has no real practical use as a vehicle for fitness. Anyone with even basic knowledge of body & health can see that Wiifit is pretty much an overglorified scale which you can stand on while you watch a pixelated character on screen.

I'll save you $80 and a ten pound peripheral you'll never use: spend the money on a digital scale and an excercise mat. Push-ups, yoga, "balance training", and all other gimmicks provided by that mess of a package can be done without the aid of your Wii. I promise. Is going to the gym repetitive? After a while, yes - because repeating excercises with physical resistance builds muscle, stregnth, and endurance. It's supposed to be repetitive because there are a finite number of excercises you can perform.

As someone who enjoys fitness, I tried to go into Wiifit with an open mind but found myself sorely dissapointed by the extremely limited use of an already pretty obnoxious gimmick- and a game which isn't even fun for all it's practical shortcomings. Playing Wiifit for thirty minutes a day isn't any more a cardio workout than walking in place is.

For that matter, playing Wiifit for thirty minutes a day isn't any more fun than any game is; so what's the damned point? Is it supposed to help you stay fit? Because it doesn't. Is it supposed to be fun? Because there are far better uses of $90 than this thing can ever come close.

In conclusion.. There are *way* better titles available for the Wii, and you should buy those instead.

If things are ever going to change and evolve, it has to start somewhere. While the Wiimote and now the balance board (or whatever it is called) may not be perfect, they are at least moving controls more in the direction of virtual reality. These controllers are paving the way for future virtual reality controllers.

How can something fun that's also sold a hell of a lot and gotten great reviews for such a short game be a failure or a gimmick?goblaa

A quick question, because you're largely wrong in your assessment. Are you overweight? I already know the answer to that question, so don't bother responding.

  • OBVIOUSLY this game is NOT for people that already workout regularly
  • OBVIOUSLY this game is NOT for people that are aware of their body and live a healthy lifestyle.
  • OF COURSE you can do this stuff without the balance board, but people DON'T.
  • OF COURSE you can exercise without the balance board, but people DON'T.

There is an element of motivation unhealthy people lack you and many others don't understand. It's incredible to me how many people miss the point. As someone who exercises regularly, you should know that any exercise is better than none, and with some of these kids, stuff like this is the only way to get them active.

I'm guessing you are like most of the GTA critics and haven't even played the game.

"In jogging, you're supposed to either tuck the Wii Remote into a pocket or hold it in your hand while running on the spot, but you can achieve the same effect by simply waggling the Wii Remote." So the exercise part of it is essentially broken and doesn't work properly, not to mention limited variety and bad menu's. For the "gaming" side of things, there's scant MP options and short shallow mini games. So it doesn't deliver for exercise or as a fun game. To think some people said it would be revolutionary and an actual exercise solution. This video was more accorate than I thought. Wii Fit Parody I do respect Nintendo's gangsta for releasing turd and marketing it so well that it'll sell regardless. $90 for half assery...priceless. AC-360

LOL at all sheep. LOL ...I can't stop laughing. Problem is nintendo is going to get away with it and it's going to make alot of money due to the non-gamers that own the wii....7.0 LOL...LOL at person who said its a fun gimmick, that's always the excuse you sheep usually have...It's fun.

Bad menus? Oh no the game is ruined...

bobbetybob

Guitar Hero, Rockband, Singstar, and Buzz are not milkage. That word doesn't even apply to peripherals.

How many skiing games and hoola hoop games until the Wii board proves useless? Look at the wiimote. Hasn't been proven to really work the way Nintendo promised. I don't see the wii board doing any better in that department.
