Next-gen? Gran Turismo 5 even looks better than this.
GamerwillzPS
Does GT5 have native 1080p at 60fps? does it have dynamic real time reflections? in a screenshot at face value true it can be hard sometimes to see HUGE differences. But in motion Project cars is one of the best things you will ever see.
It's all the little details too like flying along and seeing the rear view mirrors shake in the turbulence.
Will all the trees be in 3D? Cuz I'm pretty sure I saw a 2d tree up in there.
Pray_to_me
A LOT of stuff isn't finished yet. These are all temporary environment objects for the most part. The cars are the only things being really worked on right now and the environment details will be some of the last things done. The game is still a year out from release.
Also to all the "GT5 looks better" people, show me a GT5 screenshot that looks better than this
And no it's not a bullshot like the other games photo modes, it's actual possible in game visuals
The second one looks pretty great, the first one looks good but there's something off about it, I don't know what though :Psoulitane
I think it's because the first one looks a little inconsistent in textures and polycount.
i see lots of things which should have round edges, but don't.

Not untill games don't start using NURBS aka real curved surfaces or very heavy tessellation.
In actual gameplay it doesn´t,photomode isn´t gameplay.[QUOTE="Nanomage"][QUOTE="GamerwillzPS"]

Those pics aren't gameplay either who drives a car with the camera zoomed in on the front left wheel? Still not a "gen" ahead regardless.
Define "gen ahead". Define next gen graphics from now in regards to racing games.[QUOTE="dream431ca"]
GT5 cars look better.

Oh really?
Wow, they look beautiful! But why the inconsistency? I noticed that some other Project Cars screenshots has some jaggies in them, but your shots are actually immaculate.
If the game is going to look like this, then it will surpass GT5 with no doubt.

Downscaling using something like nvidia control panel. The graphics are rendered at very high resolutions then output to lower ones. The same effect is achieved from rescaling the final screenshots, which is probably what has been done with those shots.I hope the PC version will support my Driving Force GT wheel, if it does then I'll be a very happy person.

It's inconsistent due to different hardware configs. Some people like Ben have a 680 to power through it, some don't so it looks noticeably worse. It still has to be optimised and features added. And screenshots are very harsh on visuals anyway, they degrade what you actually see a lot. If you see the game first hand in motion it's hard not be impressed by it.
It will look like this on a good PC but consoles will get a worse looking version of it. Also GT5 is horribly inconsistent too

These two are not my screenshots, the previous ones I posted are. The inconsistencies come from different people with different settings taking screenshots. My screens are 2560x1440 with 8 MSAA, and 8x Sparse Grid Supersampling to get rid of most jaggies.
Here's are video I uploaded with the exact same settings: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmpRDnbkPYw
The option for 1440P res disappeared for some reason.

If those are next gen graphics i want my money back, for real those don't look like anything special infact those pics don't look any better then GT5 photomode pics.
Ben-Buja
These are actual ingame graphics unlike GT5s photomode where it takes the PS3 a minute to render a single frame at this high resolution.
.
These actual ingame shots I've taken with the free cam. Project C.A.R.S. is also still in development, and many effects are not finished yet. I.e. Clouds, dynamic weather and lots of trackside objects etc. are still missing.
You posted much better pics than the OP, and i wasn't saying the game doesn't look better than GT5 gameplay, but the screenshots in the OP looked ugly for something being touted as next gen thats all i was saying.Just out of curiosity, I decided to view all (Project Cars, Forza 4, GT5) the screenshots here on a Mac hooked up to a 32" 720p TV. The Project Cars screenies look awesome compared to the other two games.
You know what those pics look like?
flat panels of colors WITH NO texture Then, carmax ALL speared over like a lady with giant lips...
it better be 60fps.Tessellation
it better be 70!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! even though i cant see that fast. MAHAHAHA
I think you mean things like pump or paralax mapping or mapping effects in general. If my hundred thousand pound car had bumpy paint work I'd be sending it back. You know what those pics look like?

I haven't seen youtube videos go above 1080p.Youtube supports up to 4K resolutions. It shows the quality as "Original" then.
That video looks really good. I'm not a fan of racing games so I probably won't play the game. It's not just the actual detail in the graphics that look good but the general entire effect of everything that looks very realistic. I haven't seen the game in motion until now.

This game is killed by being impossible to play.
ActionRemix
Yeah I just played it for the first time literally 20 mins ago and I SUCK at it. But the cars handle like they would in real life, there is no room for error and you will be punished for being a bad driver. F1 cars spin uncontrollably like they would in real life.

It does realistic lighting better than anyone I think. Sure some games "look" realistic in ways but the lighting in games is always vastly exaggerated to make the game look good. But this is just goes for plain natural lighting and you can add lens flares etc. if you want. But the natural lighting nails the realism. COupled with really high textures and it's even better
Straight from my own system. This is what the game looks like in it's most natural form

Um no. I am building pc around christmas time and getting 720 at launch. This will be an amazing combo for next gen. Do you honestly think 720 won't beat these graphcis? Hell, with the hardware pcs have now, they should be producing visuals far better than this racing game. Current pc hardware is light years ahead of 360 yet Forza looks like this, this is just in higher res. pc devs need to take ADAVNTAGE of the incredible hardware available but they are being lazy except a few devs. These are the exact kinds of images that make consolites think that their current racing games look good.
It's not exactly what they actually play of course.

The 720 will look great at launch no doubt about that but hardware wise the PC will be ahead and keep updating and growing while the consoles are left at the starting line again. BUT the PC will struggle again cos of consoles
And despite what console gamers think Resolution and framerate make just as big a difference as anything else. It's the difference between crystal clear textures and muddy blurry textures. Sure in screenshots it's easy say they look similar, but put both side by side in motion and it's a VERY different story.

I already knew that though. I have seen half life 2, portal at 1080p and 60 fps and blows away my 360 versions and they arent big graphics games. 720 will reset the balance though.[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"][QUOTE="reach3"] Um no. And if they do then at least the PC will also get good visuals for a while at leastfor the first few years before they start dragging it down again
