NPD Leak December Sales: Switch dominated PS4 and Xbox One outsells PS4

Don't agree, facts are not facts unless proven to be. People used to believe the world was flat(some still do). Were those facts because it wasn't proven at that time?

@ermacness: technically we have proof that ps4 outsold the switch as of the last numbers shown. The is no proof who is leading for any day after four either system.

Actually most people knew the Earth was round back then. Flat Earthers were always a minority since most were (still are) not very educated. You know what was a fact? The the Sun revolved around the Earth. Until it was proven wrong and we now know that the Earth revolves around the sun. It was also a fact that bleeding a sick person cured them of disease. Until that was proven wrong as well. Another fact, there's no life on the surface of the sun. But I guess that's not a fact because someone, somewhere might think that life could exist on the sun. So therefore, it's not a fact. RIght?

You're both wrong because this is a philosophical understanding of facts, not a literal one. The sun revolving around the Earth was never a fact; people just thought that was the case, and it turned out that they were wrong. What was and wasn't fact didn't change. Only the understanding of the facts changed.

And rumors about Sony losing December NPD were spread on neogaf since November NPD came out,last year sony didn't win december either.

You can at least remove "NPD Leak" from the title. It's not an NPD leak because there's no NPD data to leak. The tracking period doesn't even end until tomorrow.

Leaked numbers are out for Dec. 2018..

Switch: ~1.77M

XB1: ~920K

PS4: ~800K

LTD for 2018 :

NSW: 5640K

PS4: 5330K

XB1: 4340K

Geez. this was a muted month. PS4 with zero deals with 800k. Switch fell waaaaaaaaay short of expectations. And the real loser here, the Xbox One, which was $100 off for half the month, only managed to sell a little over 100k than the PS4, and did far worse than the prior month. It truly is a dead platform, and MS knows it. That's why they keep having to do these clearance sale deals on it. No wonder they keep talking up Xbox on other platforms in the future.

At the very least, this month got Switch ahead of PS4 for the year. This is the winding down period for PS4, not that it would matter for Xbox One, but both systems should be looking into price cuts this year before the next gen kicks off.

I imagine we'll get a PS4 price cut this year to give a new surge in sales and to capture those last remaining few who are waiting for it to be dirt cheap.

Technically, Microsoft could build Switch like device like Smach Z which runs AMD Ryzen APU, but MS already has Surface Pro and it's Windows 10 clone 2-in-1 tablets industry.

AMD Ryzen APU based hand held would be very close to Xbox One's instruction set architecture.

Intel's incoming 11th generation IGP will introduce it's tile render architecture, hence reducing the need for expensive EDRAM.

Too bad NPD doesn't include Windows 10 x86 mobility devices which out sells desktop PCs.

Clearly it as Sony said it was when they talked about Market Saturation. Anyone that wanted one pretty much has it at this point and it's all down hill from here. Hence why they are looking forward to PS5. (Sorry to those new to the party)

This is not a knock to PS4 the thing did amazing. Xbox X is drawing more and more interest with the price drop, and I would bet a big chunk came from there as that Minecraft S bundle just looked lame.

This is also the part of Gen when the prices all drop prices and gamers like to see what it's like on the other console.

AT £300 it's interesting the switch is still flying off the shelves. Convinced Sony would be closer if they had a price cut. MS are just sleep walking until the generation is over the price cut has helped but only little when you look at the numbers. Switch will over take the Xbox in worldwide sales this year which must be embarrassing for them. I hope ms have learnt from this gen and take it into next gen with a different approach.

Yeah and Spiderman in the $199 PS4 bundle didn't have anything to do with it selling great in Nov. The Switch would have won Nov if it didn't.

I don't know what anything you said, but if a mobile hardware runs full Windows 10, then it's obvious a PC.
