Wonder if QB and RotTR combined will touch Uncharted 4.
LOL, no they won't. Uncharted 4 is gonna sell gangbusters.
Glad to see R&C sold well. I was one of the many that bought that game, easily one of the best games this gen.

@NathanDrakeSwag: The PS4 is the market leader and suppose to have the best games but for whatever reason their fans aren't buying enough of their exclusives so it could debut number 1 on NPD. PS4 had a drought all year long last year and if U4 doesn't debut at number 1, the drought continues. Again, the PS4 is the market leader, they set the goal post but have failed to score a number 1 debut for their games in almost 2 years now. R&C should've taken the spot since it's like $40 bucks but failed. But U4 will be number 1 next month though.
Hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...
NO wait wait ...hahahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Before NyaDC comes in and tries to use the 'Xbox has a smaller install base' argument, I need to preemptively point out that the difference between the Xbox One and PS4 install bases in the US is minuscule- less than a million units overall. That argument won't fly.
Apparently the PS4 has pulled ahead since the launch of Halo 5, never mind.
That's doesn't matter. You can't hope to cover all the of the variables that nyaDC will quantify this.
My new battlecry, PERSONA 5!!!
Star Fox actually made it to top 10??
Not only did it make top 10, it's the fifth best selling individual SKU for the month.
very surprised.
Same here. I guess it goes to show that it's one of those Japanese IP's that REALLY rely on the west (like Metroid).
Happy to say I supported 2 games on that list, even though I bought Quantam Break digitally so my purchase doesn't count towards that chart.
Everyone should get Dark Souls 3.
Overall:
April retail game sales are down 15% year over year.
Hardware was down 23% year over year.
Retail game sales were down 21% year over year.

Notes:
- Game sales couldn't keep up with Mortal Kombat X last year, which pretty much carried the industry itself.
- “Ratchet & Clank had the best launch of any game in the Ratchet & Clank franchise when adjusting for the number of days sold in the data month, with sales recapturing success not seen for the franchise since the height of the PlayStation 2 era,” said Callahan.
- “The launch of Dark Souls III marked the strongest launch in the franchise’s history,” said Callahan. “Sales for Dark Souls III nearly doubled that of its predecessor, Dark Souls II, when adjusted for days in the market.”
- "[By individual SKUs], Star Fox Zero for the Wii U was No. 5, while the Japanese role-playing game Bravely Second was No. 9. Pokken was No. 10. It’s worth noting that this is different from the NPD’s overall top 10, which combines platforms and things like special editions for a game’s sales."

Sooo.... Quantum Break had a pretty poor debut. I guess it is a niche game now, since we were told that Souls are niche games, and it got beaten out by Dark Souls 3.
Also, congratulations to Ratchet, it seriously deserved the win.
Looks like DS3 dominated and won it all. As for QB, those sales don't include digital, correct? We all know that QB was heavily marketed as digital with the buy one get one free digital copy. EA reported they are at 32% digital now on console, and that is without a digital incentive. Neogaf has QB at 150,000-200,000 not including digital nor PC. Looks like SFV is long gone now too.
NPD is pointless when you can just as easily press a few buttons on your console and buy the game online and download it. I have not bought an xbox one game at a store in over three years and i know my friends are the same. The NPD software sales tells us nothing
And somehow that doesn't apply to PS4?
Of course it does, but we don't know what the numbers are who are buying digitally. I just think NPD is pointless for software sales. Who sold more consoles, it still ok to use NPD.
Im willing to bet there is a correlation between doing well with physical sales and doing well with digital sales.
Dark Souls 3 and TLOU are the best 8/10 GS has ever given. If you miss on this masterpiece, you're a boob.
Any HW #s this month?
Haven't seen numbers but PS4 won the month. PS4 lost last April by about 13K. Xbox numbers then were at about 187K. So PS4 was about 174K.
Since hardware has gone down 23% then PS4 sold about 133K. Pretty low numbers for April. And Xbox One sold less than 133K and WiiU even less.
well sacrifices have to be made, sloppy performance doesn't stop them from being great games, but obviously they could be better, but as long as exclusives are a thing the consumers lose
I wish more gamers understood this. I want exclusivity to die in hell for all eternity and NEVER return again.
I wouldnt mind playing pokemon on my Vita agreed
Further proof that you're a corporate slave and a hypocrite. ;D

That latter by far. First he says Nintendo games are too kiddy and wouldn't mind them going away, but then he says he wouldn't mind playing Pokemon on Sony systems. Sums up the pro-"Nintendo should be third party" crowd in a partial nutshell.
