Ummm on the contrary console market is dying whereas PC gaming is arising as nowadays most games are multiplatforms (once console exclusives releasing on PC as well) and optimised ports. Console gaming got only few exclusives left which draws gamers towards it as Last of us ETC. Otherwise PC gaming is cheap and offers more fun due to mods.Â
Special thanks to steam also for introducing acheivements for current PC games , super steal deals :)
Pc gamers and Nintendo fanboys have a a lot in common. Despite every number showing a decline, and game droughts measured in half decades, you still believe every one else is wrong. And it is just so **** annoying. At this point anyone building a gaming rig, is wasting thousands of dollar for maybe 2 games, and they are not very good when comparing what we had in the late 90s/early 2000. joehult
Can I see these numbers showing a decline in the PC gaming market, please?
Also, how can the platform with the most developer support face a game drought? :?
Slowing =! dying PCs are still going strong but you have to also remember that people tend to upgrade on generational hardware releases and not 'every' year. As the next generation of CPU comes out, and the next GPU sales will spike again. That's the effect of Post-PC era. You just can't evade it. Desktop PCs are indeed dying.

I would too if I found out my $2000 system became obsolete within couple months.

My computer from 10 years ago can play modern games all i needed to do was upgrade the video card.

WTH are you talking about? Where do you see a decline in regards to pc gaming? PC gaming is bigger than ever. Quake 3 was one of the biggest fps of 1999 and it sold 50k copies in the opening week, Black Ops 2 sold about 200k the opening week. Diablo 3 broke sales records. Battlefield 3 pc sold about 1 million in its first week, Battlefield 2 took a month to hit that mark. Plus pc gaming is over 50% digital at this point, digital is a much bigger profit.
As far as hardware sales: http://www.techspot.com/news/48449-pc-gaming-hardware-market-continues-to-grow-despite-rising-competition.html
Fact is, desktop PC continues to decline, and Microsoft will have no choice but to cater to new consumers. Aka abandoning desktops, which is what's happening with Windows 8, and even more so with the rumored Windows Blue/9. Closed door Microsoft store = bye bye Steam. Good luck with software-less Linux cavemen.

[QUOTE="Mr_BillGates"]Which is why we should use Macs amirite? Superior resale value, less hackers, less virus, full desktop with optional iOS features. What's there not to like about OSX. It's superior to Windows nowadays. Using Macs = respected by the public. Using Dells or ghetto custom build computers makes people think you're poor.Fact is, desktop PC continues to decline, and Microsoft will have no choice but to cater to new consumers. Feh. I've seen Macbook Pro-using students in campus. They're just as much a wallflower as anybody else. I use Macs at home. Each of us have a Mini. It sure doesn't make me feel any different.
