With the recent rumors coming around again about Elder Scrolls V i was curious how many people actually want this game?

Do you want it to be an MMO? I surely don't. I've been pretty worried its gonna get the Old Republic treatment.

I enjoyed Fallout but i LOVED Oblivion, the soundtrack, quests, everything was spot on, danm near perfect for its time.

I hated it, didnt play it long enough to find many of the game breaking bugs like I did in Morrowind. Bethesda = king of buggy games.

Vanilla Oblivion? *shrugs* It's okay. Modded Oblivion? One of my favourite experiences this gen. Put at least 500 hours into the game both vanilla and modded. Still haven't played Nehrim yet.

The game is decent, but riddled with glitches and design flaws (like level scaling). Mod the game and you can have a nice experience, but unmodded I found the game pretty poor.

Well that can be fixed easy, dont use the quick travel if you dont want to. As for the creatures, did you play Shivering Isles? It had some ugly things. It matched Morrowinds swampy-ness pretty nicely.

I liked Oblivion, only seen it on PC tho, Ive never even seen the console version in action.

The main problem I have with the game, is that it gives a really great first impression lasting for about 5-6 hours, and then it strikes you just how much of the game is "copy pastes" It kills it a bit, but not enough to break it (likesome ubi games).

I would like some more complex bartering systems, weapons/armor and general gameworld for TES V, Id prefer more diverse combat and spells aswell.

And better Stat sysstem.

Above all else tho, Id love to see it on theTech5 engine instead of Gamebyro... that engine needs to die -.- Likely not gonna happen since its comming out so soon, so heres to hope TES VI will have it :P

Oh, and please more indoor textures for dungeons -.-

I definitely wouldn't buy an Elder Scrolls MMO, though.

Shivering Isles was definitely a step in the right direction. It didn't match Morrowind's atmosphere for me, but it was as pretty close.

It's a downgraded Elder Scrolls, much like Fallout 3 is to the Fallout series. I still had fun with it though.

I liked it but I think I was very bad at it. I find it very difficult. I'm the assassin class and I was so weak in melee I started relying a lot on the bow and now I am almost always using the bow, whether I want it or not. Even then it seem to take 20 arrows to take down someone even though I just stealth arrow'd the dude 2 times already. Also, not only that the enemies are often act like they're speed hacking and each hit that I block still takes down 1/3 of my health so yeah...

Oblivion is not a good game. It is an incredibly stupid game. I did enjoy the time i spent playing it regardless, though It certainly hasn't aged well at all.

Mods thankfully help to fix alot of problems with the game, but it's still far from brilliant.

Kokuro_Kun

My PC rocks, i built it myself, however much to my dismay, i dont have the slightest on how to use mods.... care to enlighten me?

There are multiple ways you can mod Oblivion. First you will have to extract the esp file from the rar file. I do it with WinRAR.

One is like this.

  • Put the mods (esp file) in C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data folder (gonna assume you have it like that).
  • After that start up the Oblivion launcher and go to the Data Files section
  • Activate mods by checking them in the window displaying the mods.
  • Start the game

Another method is through the Oblivion Mod Manager

  • Download the Mod Manager
  • UnRAR the contents (I use WinRAR)
  • Install the mod manager
  • Now Start the mod manager
  • In here click the create button button on the bottom area
  • Now in this menu click on add files
  • Go to where you have the mods, for me everything I download comes to the downloads folder.
  • Now select the mod you have downloaded and click open. When you are done with that, name the omod and put in an author name if you wish. After that click on create omod and that mod is done.
  • Now you will see in one of the tabs, you see the omod you created next to a green square, activate that.
  • On the tab to the left you will now see the mods content, make sure the contents are checked.
  • Start the game and enjoy.

If you have any problems feel free to ask :)

Absolutely hated it. I shouldn't need over 20 mods to make it the game that it was supposed to be. Whoever though of that horrid level scaling should hopefully be fired by now.

Definitely. But make it more like Morrowind, Bethesda.

waltefmoney

Eh. I want it to be more like Daggerfall... with procedurally generated environments. The problem when you have to create a massive world, you tend to use copy/paste too much... and it showed in Oblivion.

Also... did you play Shivering Isles? Because that was essentially Morrowind II, except with less content.

I shouldn't need over 20 mods to make it the game that it was supposed to be. ice144

Nope... but that doesn't stop those mods from fixing everything and making it a better game than Bethesda ever had the talent to create. Had they had all the time and money in the world, they just wouldn't have had the great ideas to put together what the mod community has done.

You should try the Nehrim total conversion. From what people have said, it is like a completely different game.

It was okay. Unfortunately I never played Morrowind, but I've heard a lot of good things about it. Oblivion overall was okay, but like many people have said, the setting and story were pretty generic. Nothing that I saw in that game really stood out to me. Also, level scaling is never a good idea in RPGs.

Keep in mind I played it un-modded. I've heard that modding transforms it into a whole 'nother game, might give it another try sometime.

The only thing I liked in the game was the graphics, physics, and riding the horse around the beautiful Imperial Province. Gameplay-wise it was bad compared to the previous The Elder Scrolls.

Today I prefer replaying Arena than try to give another chance to Oblivion. And that's exactly what I'm doing. :D

The Elder Scrolls: Arena
