I love it, its the only game this gen that I own on every system its available on
regular edition on PS3
GOTY edition on 360 and PC
my first version of it though was the PS3 one, and the only reason it isnt goty is because they only had regular edition in when I purchased it.
i liked oblivion, but compared to morrowind in some cases it was abit of a downgrade. lawlessxWell at least Oblivion didn't have the horribly infuriating combat mechanics ie. swing your sword 20 times and only hit once while screaming at the monitor before you die *shudders at the horrible memories*.
I....Like....The....Game...
I don't even know why.. It get's so many things wrong and is too shallow in the story department, hell it's ugly to boot (you can't mod it away either).. Still a fun game..
I liked it. It was imperfect, but definitely enjoyable.
(For reference, I also dropped 100+ hours into both Morrowind and Fallout 3 ... I think I would rank them Fallout 3, Oblivion, Morrowind, but they were all good games)
the only quest that was at all interesting imo was the And then there were noneinspired DB quest, also glarthir was probably one of the only cool characters throughout it.
overall, it was definitely a step backward from morrowind in most aspects other than combat and graphics.
Hate it.
It spoiled my all time favorite franchise with dumbed-down RPG mechanics, a lack of unique environments to explore, a lack of unique items to find, a lack of the artistic creativity that made the previous games great, a crappy console UI, and level scaling. My biggest disappointment about a release ever.
I love it to bits. Its not perfect, but there's so much fun content I can easily forgive its problems. Can't believe we have games like that on consoles now :DlocopathoThere was very little content of any substance in the game. That's the point. Much of it was randomly generated goblin dungeons and bandit caves. Literally. Go back and play it, that's half the experience is trekking through some samey looking cave or Oblivion Gate.
I own Oblivion for the 360 and loved every moment of it. I've logged countless numbers of hours into that game. The things I'd really be looking for in a sequel would be a longer single player story (excluding side stuff), further character customization, a bigger and more diverse world to roam in, allow you and the choices you make to have a noticeable impact on the game world, and the ability to totally make a ridiculous custom spell like in Morrowind. Oh and maybe an increased level of property management.
EDIT: Definitely DO NOT want it to turn into an MMO. Wouldn't buy it if that turns out to be the case.

Yeah and I enjoyed that! When a game has literally hundreds of hours of content I can forgive some of it being samey.

Yeah who cares that all I'm doing is beating up the exact same goblins over and over again, it's so much content. Thank you Bethesda for finding the copy paste function, it gives me hours of entertainment. I couldn't get excitement from content rehashed that many times if I had alzheimers.

The problem is, Morrowind had hundreds of hours of content without doing that. Literally every cave is hand made with hand placed unique items hidden in clever places.
Oblivion was such a degredation of the series it's really a travesty. I'll always miss that feeling of exploration.
Granted, I consider Morrowind to be the greatest game ever made mostly because of the unheard of level of detail, but I still hate Oblivion for ending that run.
Played it on PC. Best version imo, because it had three mods that fixed > 10,000 bugs that are still present on the consoles.
I really feel bad for the people who might have the PS3 GotY disc, because that one has a gamebreaker bug that Bethesda knew of early, but never fixed (vampirism quest).

It's not content if it's randomly generated. You might as well make a single room covered in goblin cave textures and just spawn goblins to kill.[QUOTE="superfluidity"][QUOTE="locopatho"] Yeah and I enjoyed that! It's still content, it may not be content you like but in the end it's still content.I liked Oblivion. It was fun, but then I've always been an elder scrolls fan. Certainly played it a good deal, but I burned out from it. Can definitely see why some people may not like it - especially the wide open style of play that it uses.
I warmed up to Oblivion...it's a good simple Open World RPG I even preferred it to Fallout 3.still a joke compared to Morrowind and Daggerfall though.
Apparently theres rumors going around that the Next Elder Scrolls might take place in Skyrim.
I wouldnt mind that if Bethesda makes the setting/atmosphere unique like Morrowind and add in the Snow Elves as a Playable Race.Instead of just making the game "Oblivion:Christmas Edition"
There was also a rumor or two that the next ES might take place in Summerset-isles.
Either of these two provinces would be cool.
Personally,I wanna see the next Elder Scrolls take place in Valenwood...it would be neat having a setting covered in Rainforests and Woodlands as well as Wood Elf Villages built in the trees.
Loved it. Played it on the 360. Own it on the PC though *own the actual complete edition with all the DLC*
P.S: noticed allot of comparisons to morrowind so I'll add that it was better then morrowind...It atleast wasn't filled with loads of useless crap that was just filler in the end.
