Which do you think is a better RPG and why?
I find TW to be better cause of its deep story and innovative combat.

The Witcher has a better sword combat, but has no ranged combat. Obivion's magic department is superior. Oblivion's voice acting is better. And Oblivion has a free roaming system that makes The Witcher's [free roaming system] irrelevant.
For these reasons, I enjoyed Oblivion more. Though The Witcher's story is better (maybe due to the fact that it's more linear).
By the way, Morrowind beats both of them. Hands-down.
There totally different RPG's. Its like comparing Oblivion to a Final Fantasy game.
Anyway, The Witcher wins in my opinion. MUCH better story, MUCH better combat, interesting quests, great dialouge, a decision system that isnt "kill this person or help them like a saint", etc.
The Witcher is the best RPG this gen so far imo.
They both have there ups and downs.
Oblivion has a ranged combat, better magic, lots of places to go, free roaming, excellent voice acting.
The Witcher has a better story but lacks range combat, the magic lacks enough variety and has isometric camera problems.
At this moment i'd go for The Witcher.

The first chapter introduce a knight and if you do the right things, Gerall seems to believe in him... something he doesn't do with almost 99% of the characters.
He really see him as an exemple person doing the right things, something he isn't.
Oblivion, I believe has more depth in the character development department. It offers you more classes and similar stuff.
The Witcher, on the other hand has better fighting mechanics, a great main character, more immersive story etc.
I like the Witcher better, because it holds on Slavenic mythology and culture, and I happen to be a Croat :P A one of the Slavenic breed, lol
Am I'm the only one here that thinks the Witcher was awful?
Most of the combat involved moving your mouse cursor over a mob and waiting for it to light up so that you can click. Rinse and repeat for hours. I gave up after getting past the sewers part. The combat system was just too boring for me.
Imo anyone calling the witcher a better rpg than oblivion is just ignorant. I finished the witcher and I'm probably not going to touch it ever again tho it was a good game. I'm currently replaying oblivion my fourth time... But I guess its a matter of preference.

Oblivions voice acting is NOT better then the Witchers.
But I agree that morrowind is better.

I havent played The Witcher yet, although I will be picking it up on the 360 this fall. So I cannot make the call at this time. I did like Oblivion, though.ahh yet another occasion for SW to bash the lacking rpg elements in oblivion. will it ever get old?cliff122316
this surprises you?...it's the cool thing to hate oblivion.
Oblivion isn't the horrible game people at the Rpg Codex make it out to be,Nor is it tEh Rpg Messiah that Xbox, and Sony gamers say it is.
and i never played the Witcher,My PC is a senile old man:(
I'm positively surprised to see The Witcher winning the poll. I guess the "omfg oblivion is da best ar pee gee evah!"-hype has finally settled down.HenriH-42And has been replaced with "omfg oblivion isnt an ar pee gee!".
