Oblivion just becomes a chore to play, so does the witcher, but to a lesser degree. So I vote for the witcher (also graphically it is more pleasing to me).
Oblivion really didn't feel like an Elder Scrolls game, whereas the Witcher was just an awesome experience. I probably played Oblivion for longer, but that's just because of the nature of the game.
The Witcher has a better sword combat, but has no ranged combat. Obivion's magic department is superior. Oblivion's voice acting is better. And Oblivion has a free roaming system that makes The Witcher's [free roaming system] irrelevant.
For these reasons, I enjoyed Oblivion more. Though The Witcher's story is better (maybe due to the fact that it's more linear).
By the way, Morrowind beats both of them. Hands-down.

The Witcher easily... Geral is simply an incredible character. The story is also quite better and the gameplay is whitout a doubt one of the best since Fallout.

The first chapter introduce a knight and if you do the right things, Gerall seems to believe in him... something he doesn't do with almost 99% of the characters.
He really see him as an exemple person doing the right things, something he isn't.
witcher is much better than oblivion. i wouldn't even touch oblivion without the mods. after applying mods it becomes better, but even them witcher is much better

Am I'm the only one here that thinks the Witcher was awful?
Most of the combat involved moving your mouse cursor over a mob and waiting for it to light up so that you can click. Rinse and repeat for hours. I gave up after getting past the sewers part. The combat system was just too boring for me.
Imo anyone calling the witcher a better rpg than oblivion is just ignorant. I finished the witcher and I'm probably not going to touch it ever again tho it was a good game. I'm currently replaying oblivion my fourth time... But I guess its a matter of preference.
I like TW simply because it is more linear in many ways. The result is you have a tighter and better paced game without all the added fluff that Oblivion sports.
The Witcher by leaps and bounds. Better story, NPCs, environments, story, and just overall presentation and depth.
The Witcher wasn't designed with casual appeal in mind though and I'll have to agree with part of Yahtzee's review about having so many things to do you forget what you main quest is.

Oblivions voice acting is NOT better then the Witchers.
I find TW to be better cause of its deep story and innovative combat.
I havent played The Witcher yet, although I will be picking it up on the 360 this fall. So I cannot make the call at this time. I did like Oblivion, though.

Two Worlds??? Are you serious? And you are calling Oblivion silly?
I really enjoyed Oblivion and I haven't played the Witcher yet (curse my poverty) but from what I've seen of the Witcher and from the demo it looks like a better game.
Although I had serious probelsm with Oblivion, and the Witcher is an awesome game, Oblivion is still a better RPG, as the witcher is very linear, and gives you no options to choose your character, although you do get to pick sides and level up.
Uh... The Witcher sucked less? Oblivion was a shallow action game where you were punished for *not* breaking the gameplay, and The Witcher (even with the EE upgrade) played like something dreamed up by a bunch of pubescent Polish kids (sex trading cards, really?) and localized by someone with only a basic grasp of the English language.
I'm positively surprised to see The Witcher winning the poll. I guess the "omfg oblivion is da best ar pee gee evah!"-hype has finally settled down.HenriH-42

..... My gaming rig is not high enough to handle The Witcher very well. There's no The Witcher for PS3 yet. I have to wait for Rise of the .... Wolf? And it will be much more expensive than buying PC version.
