Odyssey will go down as the most overrated Mario game of all time.

Great game and overrated of course

I am enjoying it, but it is a collectathon. It a lot of ways it reminds me of Banjo-Kazooie. I just didn't get the same enjoyment as I did Mario Galaxy 1 & 2. I'm almost 600 moons deep, and will go for the 999 but, I don't know...

At first glance, the big open worlds are neat to explore, but don't seem to offer too much. It's when you start going into these rooms where the game really starts adding a lot of content. Overall, it's better than Sunshine, but worse than the other 3D Mario platformers for me.

Does it deserve it's praise? A lot of gamers, and journalists, have wanted a more open world - any star accessible at any time - experience. So they got it.

For me, and I'll use BoTW as the example - soundtrack wasn't memorable, and actual dungeons non-existent. I feel that there could have been more platforming here - essentially, what made the previous installments so good was missing in both of these titles.

Another factor, the anti-BOTW backlash from Zelda fanboys (to be fair, it happens with every Zelda game because shrugs). They wanted full dungeons and a traditional Zelda experience, yet bashed Skyward Sword when given a traditional Zelda experience with clever dungeons (granted, motion technology's limit was exposed and Fi is hand holding at its worst).

Mario odyssey is easily the best mario ever made imo,it respects the old fans while at the same time appeals to new players the visuals,controls,level designs are simply perfect I am not going to listen to a nit picking pretensious youtuber for two hours just because it did not live up to his expectations the game is a masterpiece plain and simple.
