Wiiu you gotta tether five or six controllers together. Nintendo has to cut a nickel from production costs so you need a 30 dollar controller to make this 25 dollar thing work. I mean wtf that is just stupid. Believe it or not but even the wiiu fightstick needs you to have a wiimote.

Talk about over exaggeration.

So it's pretty much a reskinned classic controller? Gross. I'll give the Wii U pro controller a shot before buying this.

Aaaaaaaaand my interest is gone.

Seriously ? There's no reason for them to do that. The Wii U pro controllers can connect to the Wii U via wireless tech just fine, why on earth would this controller need a wiimote to connect ?

Much cheaper. The controller is $25 instead of $50 - $60

Except if you don't have a wii controller though, than it becomes much more expensive.

A Wii U pro controller costs 50 euro around here, a wii controller with 'motion plus' built in also costs 50 euro.

@Desmonic: you're making it seem like this Completely difficult for developers to do. BTW. I'm asuming this GameCube controller is nothing more than a Classic Controller which works just the same as a pro controller but also works like a WiiU arcade stick.

So the amount of work devs would put in this is about the same work that they've always been putting into WiiU games.

Wii U Pro Controller will be the only correct way to play this. Way better than that Gamecube pad crap.

@Desmonic: clearly Smash Bros was not meant for an Arcade Stick but you can plug one in and play Brawl with one.

It's stupid to try to play Battlefield 3 or Uncharted with an arcade stick but I did.

Point is its not as big of a deal you're making it out to be.

That is indeed the best way to play Smash Bros. But seriously, enough controllers already. I'll just play with the Pro controller.

@Desmonic: and I'm saying its not as big of a "headache" that you think it is. Like I said, Battlefield, Uncharted, and Smash Bros are not meant for an Arcade Stick. Do you really think some developer went out of their way to code their game so you could test this out? Of course not.

These controllers are just emulating the one controller that is tied down to the game.

Okay seriously? Plugging into the wiimote? Geez :/. What is so hard about just making it a wireless GC like controller?

I actually don't have any of those fancy controllers yet since I never needed one for either Wii or WiiU. I might have to pony up for one of those special controllers since the WiiU isn't compatible with GC controllers...

What is the best controller on market right now for the WiiU that is compatible with everything?

I don't get why some people have this kind of cult love the GameCube controller, it was a pretty awkward controller.

Such a move would be pretty exciting though if they announced they were putting GameCube games up on Wii U's eShop.

Got used to playing Smash with it haha. :P

Even now I think its pretty good though. It still feels pretty good in your hands even after your hands growing bigger over the years.

That's not true. I own a WiiU and I don't own a Wii.

I have a Wii controller though, so I could play splitscreen games on my brothers Wii. But I have zero interest in this controller if it can't connect to the console itself and requires another controller.

Not including a charger, a necessary piece of equipment, was a very lame move by Nintendo. And it made their handheld more expensive than it seemed.

It would be like WiiU not including an adapter or a Wii U gamepad...

The best explanation I got for it is that the bigger side is a resting spot for the bottom of your hand when you are using the analog. It's built for bigger and smaller hands alike.

Honestly kind of pointless though. There aren't very many complaints on hand position issues for tried and true controllers.

It's probably so you can use it for Wiimode as well.

Or for people with a normal hand a small hand:

At a glance, it seems to have more in common with the Sega Saturn Controller than the GC.

Yeah I think it's a stupid way of doing things too. Especially because Wii motes, Wii U pro controller and Wii U gamepad can connect just fine without needing to be plugged in another controller.

The best controller for Wii U at the moment for me is the Wii U pro controller. It has everything, and a very long lasting battery.

But it depends on your definition of everything... because there is no such controller. Wii U pro controller can't play Wii games. Wii controller can only play some Wii U games...

Yeah, I had a definition of everything, but I had a feeling everyone would say Pro so I didn't want to waste my time. :P

The new GC controller is pretty ugly and looks conceptually challenged too. They moved the L & R! I mean wtf? They are perfect as bumpers. Stop screwing things up.

Dunno, I was expecting something completely different than this when they said this was to be inspired by the gamecube controller...

Is this concept art or something :/

The problem was really the two sides of the controller were designed by two different people and one accidentally used metric and the other used imperial.

No it wouldn't. There was not a previous piece of hardware that the market was massively saturated with that came with a wii U gamepad/adapter

Very small graphical differences

And now, the same controller.

Stop making consoles, Nintendo.

Long ago as a child I play the game Street Fighter 2. After many revisions it finally got to Super Turbo. Arcades were on their way out. So that competitive aspect wasn't there as much, which was a huge draw for fighting fans. Anyways, fast forward to Street Fighter 4. Is that around 20 years? A friend of mine invites me over. He's got SF4. Wow, he's got the fightstick and it is the same layout. I ended up winning a lot based on old school sf techniques.

These kinds of posts are downright dense. How can people say such stupid things, really. We've got people that want the same general control layout. Sony keeps the same thing for 20 years. Then there's people that want a new design like the above poster. Nintendo then gives us a fucking stick with a string. Then people like the above poster complain. Then nintendo puts a fucking television on the controller.... lol

Controllers are part of a console.

They have partnered with Nintendo, I'd imagine it has the Nintendo name on it somewhere.

Either way, your analogy still sucks. And my post was perfectly clear. Even if it was slightly off-topic.

Lol

Same game

Very small graphical differences

And now, the same controller.

Stop making consoles, Nintendo.

lol

Then nintendo puts a fucking television on the controller.... lol

Amazing analogy. Too bad it isn't worth a shit because Capcom doesn't make consoles.

This thread is more about controllers than consoles, no? You mention nintendo and consoles. I'm not sure why you did that and you are aware nintendo isn't even producing the controller, right?

Controllers are part of a console.

They have partnered with Nintendo, I'd imagine it has the Nintendo name on it somewhere.

Either way, your analogy still sucks. And my post was perfectly clear. Even if it was slightly off-topic.

Nintendo makes the best games. I think wiiu is underpowered, but Nintendo making consoles allows them to keep their design philosophies, which next to no other game studios carry.

What's your excuse for Sony?

Controllers different

Graphics are better

Games are different

What's your excuse for being an idiot?

Are you sure that it's "Gamecube" inspired? Because I had a controller called the Super Pad 64 Plus and they look really identical.

And it sucked ass.

The NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, Wii U controllers are the same?

Unless you're talking about this gen, Nintendo had better graphics for two gens.

Care to elaborate how Nintendo games are the same?

Such baseless remarks.

That's not true. I own a WiiU and I don't own a Wii. You're probably vastly in the minority

No it wouldn't. There was not a previous piece of hardware that the market was massively saturated with that came with a wii U gamepad/adapter

Keyword: probably. You don't know that. You're just guessing.

Let's just stop this because there is no way either one of us can prove we are right.

And you are not seriously defending Nintendo for not including a charger, are you ?

No I'm not defending that move. I'm just saying that for most people it's cheaper. I think originally you asked why the heck nintendo would make it connect to a wii mote.
