No I'm not defending that move. I'm just saying that for most people it's cheaper. I think originally you asked why the heck nintendo would make it connect to a wii mote.

Well, yeah, my original question was indeed why that company who makes this controller or nintendo would require another controller to be able to use it.
Okay, it's cheaper. But it's also more cumbersome that way. Why connect two controllers to your wiiu, to play just one, when there is a wireless connection in place there that allows you to connect the one you want.
But I've already said this before. I see you argument, but for me as a Wii U owner this controller is absolutely pointless to me. I only hook up my wiimote when I want to play Wii games, because it's necessary. I'm not going to do so to play Wii U games.
