Official Gears of War 2 hype thread

It feels like an expansion pack just by looking at it.

It should be a good familiar feeling. I thought that picking up the knocked down Locust and using him as a shield was pretty cool. The chainsaw battles feel kinda forced? I dunno, it just doesn't seem like you would have this big chainsaw battle in the middle of a battle, but I dunno.

The game seems to be what you would expect from Gears of War 2.

Pssh on graphics king going to be revealed soon.

There is just so much more in this one it seems and they only showed a short clip. Just like the developers were saying the battles are larger, it is faster paced, better graphics. A lot of those big monster things ( I forget the names).

Yeah they definatly delivered on the epic battle's feel, and you can finally fight the Burmak for the first time (on the 360).

Brumaks. It's funny how just last year Epic said the 360 couldn't handle the one Brumak fight (the one that went to PC),but now look what they're doing.

Notice the larger scale of the environment and the battle itself. Notice the increased number of enemies (literally dozens at one point) on the screen at the same time. Notice the sheer volume of things going on before you without a hint of slowdown. All of these things combine to make Gears of War 2 a better looking game than Gears 1.

Crysis Killer? Hell no. But then again, only the most rabid of fanboys were expecting it to be and as far as consoles go, when this is released, I could easily see it retaking its top spot as the console graphics king.

You're absolutely right,on a technical scale,it's very impressive. But from a pure graphical point of view,it's pretty similar to the first game.

Yeah they didn't necessarily bump up the textures and poly's but they defiantly polished and made a much bigger game than Gears 1. This fight is going to go on forever though, atleast till we see more gameplay.

Actually there is a lot more detail in the animations and things like chainsawing. In Gears 1 if you chainsaw it shoots giblets everywhere rather than just sawing the person in half like it should, but in Gears 2 you see the top part of the body slide off and fall to the ground sepratly.

Heres a compairson between Gears 1 and 2. Not the best footage for either but best I got now. Both are on a moving vehicle so I figured it was close enough.

Cows need to watch both vids and say they look the same. GeoW2 is so much better looking. Oh well, I'd be jealous if I couldn't play it, too.

Strange I just watched it a minute ago...the page took a couple minutes to load though...oh and I watched it with Firefox...it wouldn't open with IE7

I agree with bioshock and i own both games as well.

I agree also, but of course my word isnt as good since Ive only played the demo.

Uncharted looks great no doubt. But the detail on the character models in Gears 1 was much better than Uncharted.
